  1. pick 3 + pick 13 for Hogan + pick 20 + Dom Barry. Assuming Hogan is worth pick 3, then is Dom Barry worth a 7 place downgrade (13th to 20th) in the first round? I'm happy to assume the FD and MN know a good deal for the MFC. From Knightmare on Big footy "#66 Port Adelaide – Dominic Barry (NT) Height: 183cm, Weight: 78kg, DOB: 07/03/1994 Recruited from: North Ballarat Rebels Style: Player comparison: Range: 30-rookie Profile: Very quick outside midfielder with a good combination of speed and endurance. Has a real slippery, evasiveness to him and has really nice agility. The speed is the real feature of his game and both ways it can be a real feature whether it be with his chasing or offensive running when he can get into space. His numbers are very solid for a player of his type but to improve will need to develop some more consistency in his ball use. Why:"
  2. Rounds is a pick 46 who played 1 game for the pies this year... I really should have just ignored this.
  3. Stringer got 30 out of 30 at goal kicking test at the combine, i believe. One of three players to do so.
  4. The club has to assess the prospective players at the combine and if as a result of this assessment they believe that there are better players available for pick 3 then they are acting responsibly drafting them before JV, even if that means we miss on Jack. No Games, just due diligence. I like Jack and think he'll be a good player, but have to back the club to assess and select what is best for the MFC, even if that's not Jack Viney at pick 3.
  5. How does Gumby compare to Dawes? Who'd we prefer, assuming Gumby can stay fit.
  6. How would Dawes compare to Gumbleton (if we believe he could stay healthy)?
  7. We don't need to say anything. It's implications are obvious. Unless GC strongly rate JV as the 2nd best player on offer (by a fair bit) they'd gain zip for making us take JV at 3, and risk using their 2nd pick on a player they don't rate as 2nd. If they let him slip through they potentially gain something from the MFC in terms of trade (Caddy, Toy, etc...).
  8. We have effectively signaled this through the media aver the past couple of days... I.e. MFC interested in Caddy and Toy + we don't think JV is worth pick 3...
  9. It's like musical chairs. When the music stops and Sharrod hasn't got a seat, he loses comes to the MFC.
  10. Given Neeld was coaching him last year we prob don't need to interview him. Given Pies need to free cap space (after cloke and Lynch deals) we need to deal with them (i.e. what would we trade). If both of those are ticks Sharron is coming to the MFC wheather he meets us or not. He ain't no free agent.
  11. Says more about the player than it does about the MFC. Says to me that Sharrod wants to continue riding on the coat tails of better players who are delivering winning performances rather than rise to the challenge of being one of those player himself. If a prospect does not believe that they can impact and improve the performance of the club they play for, then they are hardly worth the big bickies. So if Sharrod believes delivering success at MFC is beyond him, then good on Sharrod for admitting it. Next.
  12. It's good to spell it out though.
  13. Be happy to pick up Dawes for Martin if we are solid on Hogan in the mini-draft.
  14. I was referring to my not getting excited, Stuie... Day 2 (of 30 odd).
  15. The Wiggles are thinking of entering a team.
  16. We don't have to actually want Caddy or even take him, we just need GC to think we might, sufficiently to let JV through to second round. I don't particularly like Caddy from the accounts I've heard, but keen to have two top 5 picks PLUS JV...
  17. And if GC let JV through then we can make sure Saints use pick 12 on Caddy (which would make GC happy).
  18. An old bull and a young bull stand on a hillside, overlooking a pasture. The young bull says to the old bull, “Hey, let’s run down and blank one of those heifers.” The old bull replies, “let’s walk down and blank ‘em all."
  19. These two items are the crux of our play to get JV with the second round. I.e. Let Jack go through and we'll use pick 13 on Caddy (a better deal than most other suitors can afford)...
