  1. I like Sellar and feel that Neeld would prefer more big bodies than less.
  2. Travis was either an exceptional or disastrous kick. Never average.
  3. So the club should fight to maintain a players "value", despite the same player doing his unbeknown best to diminish the same "value"? Not in my book.
  4. He'd prefer the doggies as he'd be more likely to be in their team for longer than at Melb given the Hogan recruitment.Dawes is 24 looking to play for 6+ years at his next club and we've just recruited the "next" big gun forward to join Clark...
  5. Our current midfield* stocks Trengove, Grimes, McKenzie, Howe, Jones, Viney, Tapscott, Blease, Sylvia, Jetta, Bail, Nicholson ®, Evans ®, Couch, Magner, Barry Watts, Gysberts, Morton, Taggert, Tynan, Bennell, Sheahan, Williams * broadest definition of midfielder possible.
  6. Good points, and a good argument for us getting Dawes as well (if possible).
  7. A dark horse for pick 4. Big bodied midfielder in the mould of Swans Kennedy?
  8. I think Jamie is safe given the doubt/issues with Barty's knee. Bennell will make a fine small backman.
  9. We'll have to wait for history to reveal itself. Given Hogan was in the MN he was never going to be available next year. Happy with this deal, real quality power forwards are rare and valuable, and as such I'm happy for the MFC to secure one of the best available. And btw we will finish higher than 16th next year.
  10. Like the way we have "won big" in the first 2 days of the draft period. It puts the message out there to prospective players considering Melb that the good ship MFC is on the rise. Additions of Viney, Hogan and Pick 4 are just what the doctor ordered. Well done.
  11. To quote Harrington: "We rate him extremely highly. We think he's going to be someone you can really develop a team around and with. That's a big statement about a 17-year-old, but he's impressed us no end."
  12. Hogan turns 18 in Dec so would be 19 when he hits the ground in 2014, and by all accounts should be cherry ripe by then, after 2 pre-seasons and a year at Casey...
  13. If the Doggies offered pick 5 & 6 for Hogan and pick 10 (say) they'd trump our pick 3...
  14. pick 3 + pick 13 for Hogan + pick 20 + Dom Barry. Assuming Hogan is worth pick 3, then is Dom Barry worth a 7 place downgrade (13th to 20th) in the first round? I'm happy to assume the FD and MN know a good deal for the MFC. From Knightmare on Big footy "#66 Port Adelaide – Dominic Barry (NT) Height: 183cm, Weight: 78kg, DOB: 07/03/1994 Recruited from: North Ballarat Rebels Style: Player comparison: Range: 30-rookie Profile: Very quick outside midfielder with a good combination of speed and endurance. Has a real slippery, evasiveness to him and has really nice agility. The speed is the real feature of his game and both ways it can be a real feature whether it be with his chasing or offensive running when he can get into space. His numbers are very solid for a player of his type but to improve will need to develop some more consistency in his ball use. Why:"
  15. Rounds is a pick 46 who played 1 game for the pies this year... I really should have just ignored this.
  16. Stringer got 30 out of 30 at goal kicking test at the combine, i believe. One of three players to do so.
  17. The club has to assess the prospective players at the combine and if as a result of this assessment they believe that there are better players available for pick 3 then they are acting responsibly drafting them before JV, even if that means we miss on Jack. No Games, just due diligence. I like Jack and think he'll be a good player, but have to back the club to assess and select what is best for the MFC, even if that's not Jack Viney at pick 3.
