He just turned 29 so maybe he is a player Geelong should recruit. The MFC need player with a good upside and around 22-26 years of age.
-
His game in the Grand Final was good but I needs to get better in 2022. He needs a big pre-season training and some good practice games form just to hold his place in the 22 with competition from James Jordan and Luke Dunstan knocking at the door. If players like Bailey Laurie or Fraser Rosman get a clear run without injury or limited match practice and show massive improvement, he will be under more pressure to hold his place.

Are we sure that is Max's child because it has not got a beard yet?
-
I like him from the start of his career but never expected he would become a star in the making. If he can repeat this years effort he will become an AA player.
-
That is a 1 meter child how did she do it.

I think this was his best season of football and after being told to look for a new home at the end of last year. He was rejected by other clubs returning to the MFC and embraced challange and rose to the occassion saving his best for the Grand Final with his gut running and precision passes.

If Mac Andrew is selected as a high draft pick the expectation on him will be enormous and could have mental repercussions down the track. I believe for his own good he should be in the 20-40 range were players like Max Gawn were picked and allowed to mature and developed without pressure. Jackson's are rare and we should enjoy the ride, Luke Jackson is the first true ruckman to win the award and the only player to come close was Adam Goodes.

Maybe the best comparison should be a MFC team of the AFL which was after 1987 the year West Coast and Brisbane were admitted

Frank Adams Frank Adams won 6 flags!!!!!!

Gary Hardeman was a great CHB in the era where CHF were only 185-193 but now with CHF being 194-202 his ability to jump would make him very tired in the 2nd half of games. The fact that players today have only one job makes them fitter and faster than yester year. I have followed the MFC since 1952 and never saw players like Don Cordner, Ivo Warne-Smith, Jack Mueller, Norm Smith Allan La Fontaine, Percy Beams and Albert Chadwick at all. Also prior to the 1950's teams played 4 ruckmen one in the FP, BP and 2 Ruckmen until the advent of the Ruck Rover like Ron Barassi, Serge Silvagni and Ted Whitten. As you can see football has evolved to 2021 where 2 specialist ruckmen have now re appeared but they are now midfielders as well, not lumbering crash and bash players. Changes in the rules has made the lumbering ruckman obsolete like Terry Gleeson. The Cordners where 193-194cm tall and would now be cannon fodder as ruckmen to the modern 200-211cm ruckmen. The MFC team of the century was ok in the 1900's but would struggle against the 2021 professional Demons. The great MFC teams had great rovers which today don't get a look in, Viney at 178cm is tall verses 170cm rovers of yester year.

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
durango replied to TRIGON's topic in Melbourne Demons
I watch the tape and he has no depth in his kicking for his size. -
Just ask Richard Barassi how the much pressure is on the person even at junior level.

EVERY ANGLE: New look at Dees' flag-winning burst

Denis Cometti who would have said the pass by Harmes was 'centimeter perfect' -
Seems the club is proactive in signing its young players to long term contracts like Salem and Petracca.
-
His upside is huge considering he was playing his 34 game in the GF and his position in the side was never in question thru out the season. I still think he will become a wingman in the future because he has that attacking flare for such a young man.

EVERY ANGLE: New look at Dees' flag-winning burst

Sensational is the only word which describes the play, I have watch football since 1952 and this is truly magnificent. The faces of the Bulldogs said it all, we are done! -
His career has started with a rising star award 2021 and a premiership, his father dreamed of playing in finals and a premiership with the Saints and his son in his first season has reached the holy grail of the AFL/VFL. I think he also has a chance of moving into the midfield in the long term and getting an other rising star award in 2022.

Does that mean we use the pick on the Pope but with his age demographics probably wants to go to Geelong anyway?
-
It seemed that the play was mostly on Brayshaws side of the ground in the 3rd quarter and he really got going in the last quarter helping with the 9 goals kicked to the non scoring end since at 3 quarter time James Brayshaw commented that of the 21 goals 17 were scored at the end the Bulldogs were kicking to so it might be an exciting finish.

I think the clubs fortunes will now accelerate due to increased members, attendances and sponsorships but the must never forget the members who stood by the club through the period from 1964 to 2021.
-
Sometimes players and supporters forget the band of trainers who go to every game, getting very little reward for their efforts. The arrive well before the game and stay well after the game and do the training sessions. When I was at the club the players trained around 5pm to 7pm but we where there at 4pm to 8:30pm 2 days a week and match days we would start with the reserves and senior so we attended at 10am to 6:30pm. These people should be remember even though they did not kick a goal or handpass to a player but the show does not go on without them.
-
Remind me where I said what position Mac Andrew would play. Sometimes you should at least read the text and then comment. You don't agree he is tall and mobile. Or you don't agree he needs 3-4 years development.
-
In the case of Luke Jackson remember 2020 he played 1st Ruck when Gawn got injured against Adelaide and unfortunately got injured himself and ended his season. Mac Andrew is tall and mobile but has at least 3-4 years development required before he is ready to play AFL regularly.
-
One fact that Petracca's and Bontempelli's are as rare as Luke Jackson's so how would the 18 teams recruit 396 players of that calibur without losing players like Bowey, Pickett and Daniel etc. Sure the game changes but tall backs will always be needed like May. The game that the MFC played in the Grand Final is not the finished product until they make no disposal errors, decision errors and kick only goals no behinds. This is not a 2 ruck statergy but a 4 midfield statergy at the centre bounce.

When somebody looks at Clayton's statistics over his career todate shows he is virtually elite in most categories. He has 2 AA and Premiership medal to show for his body of work and this year he has increased his kicking disposal and has now included goals, he took on the responiblity of shadowing Bontempelli in the 2nd half of the 3rd quarter helping Petracca to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. If players like Clayton reach their peak at 25 then next year will be sensational.
