  1. How long will Zanker’s quad keep her out? Hopefully not long. Replacement Gillard has impressed in her 2 games. Mick Stinear to do some shuffling. Maddie Gay to the midfield? Dees must win at Fortress Casey against the improving Blues this week to secure a top 2 position and a week’s rest. Even better if we improve our percentage above Adelaide’s. Linton St is a hellhole and not nearly as friendly as Norwood Oval, so who knows? Dees women to emulate the men and win the minor premiership. Dees by 17 points.
  2. Wasn’t that awesome to watch. Stinear has our team playing exhilarating footy a la the boys, highly entertaining. Moving from Fremantle oval to Optus Stadium was a win for us, our skills in windless conditions excelled. Also Meggs wanted everyone to know that Freo had a few late withdrawals due to Covid as you may not have heard… Hoping Zanker is ok as we need her on ball and second ruck work. It’s either Scotty or Parry and Demonland prefers Shelley over Jacqui. West and Purcell have allowed Paxy to play wing and it works better. Our multi-faceted forward line has kicked the highest score on AFLW history. It will be our 2022 finals weapon! Collingwood to upset Adelaide tomorrow and we finish on top with a potential grand final at Casey…Meggs likes the sound of that. ps we still need to defeat Carlton next week at Casey Fields.
  3. Isn’t Casey Fields the toughest road trip, we’ve won the last 12? Adelaide beat Freo at Fremantle oval last week and we won there in Round 8 last year but this game is at Optus Stadium, home of a recent and famous drought-breaking Demons triumph. If we have any designs on winning tonight we will need to be a lot tougher than we were against Adelaide at Norwood Oval recently. Meggs will be glued to the tv tonight and has high hopes for a supreme effort, loves the ins and reckons we can win.
  4. Nice inclusions, Gaby Colvin and Megan Fitzsimon. We will give it a crack tomorrow!
  5. Seriously. These new rule interpretations are just crazy. Will they be consistently applied throughout the season?
  6. Yes, @defuture15, Lisa Sthalekar speaks well, makes insightful comments, and was a successful all rounder in her playing day. And Daisy is awesome in so many ways. Don’t understand the negativity.
  7. Nice to see Greg Wells there too. Captain 1977-78. Had a great boot on him and was ever reliable during our lean years of the seventies.
  8. Yes indeed. It was printed that we made a huge off-season play for Chloe Molloy which she turned down. Interestingly, Chloe has not fired so far this year. Whereas Tayla is playing career best footy, outstanding footy really, definitely AA year coming up. Loving watching her. Tays recruitment has turned out very well for both her and the Dees!
  9. 5. K Paxman 4. L Mithen 3. S Heath 4. O Purcell 5. T Harris
  10. Posted this in the VFLW thread: Megan Fitzsimon had 19 disposals, 5 clearances, 3 marks and a goal yesterday in VFLW. Freo are quick so good runners, able tacklers and players with neat skills will be all important next week. Hope she gets a recall. @DeeSpencer agree with you that it’s time for Scott to have rest this week. Gillard is going well and seems more poised with ball in hand vs Gaby, who is more frenzied and unpredictable. Lampard worries me. She has a good kicking action but her passes don’t always end up with a teammate. Gay took some kick-outs yesterday so Mick may seen this too. Also Casey Sheriff appeared hestitant at times yesterday and wonder if this was due to her recent concussion. Next week will be a grind at Freo, very physical so hope she is ok.
  11. Nice to see Megan get amongst it with 19 disposals, 5 clearances, 3 marks and a goal. Freo are quick so runners with neat skills will be important next week. Hope she gets a recall.
  12. Yes, North will be a tough opponent today, certainly a premiership contender in 2022. Their midfield group has 2 good rucks in Emma King and Rennie plus they genuine stars in Jazzy Garner and Ash Riddell with Emma Kearney down back who is playing great footy there intercepting and setting up plays. Bruton, Gavalas, Ashmore, Mia King and Bresnehan are all having good years and Bannister who kicked 2 goals against us last time is finally playing every game and looking dangerous. @BDA Meggs would like to see Kate Hore find some form too. And some others could too. Parry has had one serviceable game all season and Ex skipper Scott has barely imposed herself this year. A pity we dropped Megan Fitzsimon cause she has clean skills and some footy smarts but she’ll be back. Start strong this week please. Gay and Sherrif returning strengthens our team. Really looking forward to this game. We are evenly matched. Should be a cracker! Dees by 1 point.
  13. North are very good and will really test us. However this a strong team we’ve chosen so fingers are crossed for a rippa game. Go Dees.
  14. Magee, Fitzsimon, Caris, Brown, Tarrant, Petrevski all named for Casey this week. So at least 2 outs. Saw Sheriff in training photo so she’s one and Gay must be ready to play too?
  15. Expecting the AFL to remedy this by announcing a change to Round 10 fixture...
  16. Meggs had a squizz this morning. According to the fixture, after tonight's Round 5 catch up game Giants v Saints @Blacktown there needs to be one more game scheduled. That is, Dockers v Bulldogs. Once that's announced, all teams will then have their scheduled 10 games.
  17. Incredible comeback! 5. Harris 4. Hanks 3. Paxy 2. Mithen 1. Birch
  18. Agree. Love Gaby’s Hibbo style efforts, her one-on-ones and her marking which is really solid. Didn’t know she was injured so Gillard gets her opportunity early. Hope she takes her chances. Our backline is a WIP. Libby has been great so far this year and agree we need a gun intercepting tall back. I think some better foot skills would help with transitions. Emma Kearney, North skipper, has moved down back from the midfield and is having a rippa year taking intercept marks and setting up plays. They are also a good team to watch.
  19. Yes BDA, Brisbane tomorrow at Carrara, North at Casey and then Freo at ???. All huge games and then Carlton in the final round 10 game. North were awesome today against the Pies. On team selection this week, not surprised by the outs, Colvin has been quiet all year, Caris needs more game time at Casey and Brown is a good depth player. But Meggs is most impressed with the talent spotting skills of @Dees_In_October now with T. Gillard debuting this week after his glowing comments last week at Casey after he had nominated the recruiting of the rapidly improving Eliza West 😎
  20. Meggs sees Maggie is named as first ruck but no Magee and Gillard who impressed @Dees_In_October last week for Casey is not named. How many emergencies / reserves would they fly to Gold Coast?
  21. Night games at Carrara are dewy and Gold Coast backs couldn’t hold their marks. Lions have tons of talent, speed and pressure. To win next Monday we will have to be at our best and play to the conditions. The premiers are firing after their big round one loss to the Crows. Anyway tonight’s result was: Bris 12.13.85 to GC 2.4.16, a shellacking…
  22. Back to 2 conferences of 9 teams together with EPL relegation/promotion?? 🤔 Maybe a chance for Casey hehe…it’s been too rushed by HQ helped alongside plenty of AFL club fomo…
  23. Mick says Olivia Purcell is likely to debut against the reigning premiers and Casey Sheriff one more week with her concussion recovery. Gay a couple more weeks in rehab with her quad. @Dees_In_October mentioned that Gillard impressed for Casey maybe a swap for Caris? @WERRIDEE might you do some revised changes for our Round 7 clash Monday 21 February at Metricon? No rush 😎
