Pick 2 in the Preseason Draft
Martin has delisted himself from GCS' list. He can now do that. "Martin delisted himself from Gold Coast on Monday, nominating terms for a new home in the upcoming NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft." Blues set to nab million-dollar Sun in Pre-Season Draft

The Splitting of Pick 8
We are backing ourselves to rise further up the ladder next year. Our 1st might have been 10, 12 or higher. Yet in a draft where up to half of the top 20 are academy or FS, that could easily get pushed to 18 or 20. All hypothetical, but also quite realistic IMO. Good planning, I say

Ben Sokol looks good. But will he be there at our 3rd pick?
-
Dylan Stephens (Drafted by Sydney)
Not sure he'd have anywhere near that space and time at AFL level. But yes, he'd be a great option at 8. Has a lot of class.

Keep up. He nominates a contract amount which must be agreed upon. We can't give him 350 if he has nominated 600

Live Pick Trading and Academy Bid Matching
In that situation, GWS' 17 would get pushed back a number of spots. Even with 20% discount, 14 on its own wouldn't be enough points to match a bid at 5. If by chance we bid at 3, they might need both 14 and 17 to match. 6 on its own could be enough. Wed need to be careful to judge him worth 3 in case GWS pass. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think a club without enough picks left to match the points for a bid could be made to use the following year's pick value in their 1st pick to make up the difference.

Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
Not at all ding I and many others thought @Mach5's comments reasonable and probably the most accurate assessment of the question. That's all.

Or then there's the Richmond model where players openly say it doesnt concern them what others are paid as long as there is success. I heard Jack Revoldt say that very comment about Lynch coming to the tigers. I highly doubt the club would openly use the SC as an excuse for not signing an existing player. That's just flat out poor contract dealing (I'm looking at you Adelaide!). If Martin was to turn around and agree to come to us, which is very unlikely, the FD should absolutely do what they can to fit him in, short of a breach of SC. All clubs would have a Plan B for such events. Players sook about what others are paid in clubs with poor culture and poor communication. If that is us, then we get what we deserve. I don't think it is though, or I bloody well hope not.

Why worry about the price tag? We have a min cap that has to be paid. If there's space, I'm all for it. The cap can be reshuffled in 12 mths tome to accommodate new contracts with others. I don't know why posters are concerned with contract amounts when we have no real idea of our position. Having said that, I still think he's off to the Blues.

But isn't the AFL article today saying that they can do this shuffling? I reckon the 5 minute switcheroo shouldn't be permitted. Once a player is bid upon, match it or don't.

Deven Robertson (Drafted by Brisbane)
Money isn't everything, as they say. Players want money, premierships and to play with mates. Increasingly though, they also want to be around family. Very gen Z. Not everyone is as tough as you DD.
