GWS can only go into the draft with the same number of picks as vacant spaces on their list, which is why clubs struggle doing those deals this year.
-
True, but those picks probably wouldn't cover one, let alone two.
-
Depends. A club cannot go into the draft with more picks than places vacant on their list. It wouldn't work to trade in three picks to have the points for one F/S.
-
Would help if there was actual humour involved.

You mean like Dom Tyson? Edit. And you're aware Hibberd is only 26?

I think you've got it Moisty!

OMG! Would that make us a 'destination club'? According to some on this thread a few weeks ago (not you qaroks), we are most definitely NOT a destination club. Flat out said we were not. If Hibberd and Lewis land at the Dees, are we officially one of the 'destination clubs'? Or do we need to land a big fish, like one of those kneeless mids from GWS that struggle to get on the park?

Or maybe (heaven forbid) Maple might actually have 'a life'. Always found those from Camaroon to be worldly and balanced in most things.

Makes me laugh all these posters who get their knickers in a knot about whether or not a trade rumour is true on a internet fan forum FCS! It's not a court of law. Take it with a grain of salt, regardless of accuracy.

Edit. Having posted that, I don't believe Lewis is worth anywhere near a 2nd rounder

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JORDAN LEWIS

Suns will play hard ball for OMeara. From the AFL website "Tony Cochrane doesn't bluff, "Google my name and you'll see I don't bluff"" If it goes on into next week, I'd love to see the Dees make serious enquiries. Sure, he's nominated Hawks, but I'd much rather OMeara over Jerry Lewis, pending medical. First and second rounder next year, or the like? Might make it pick 11 and 30 in what is suggested to be a bumper 2017 draft. -
Don't worry mate, it's a compliment to be compared to Dazzle

Can we have a Dean Martin thread as well? -
Interesting that that swap of picks with the Lions now means that GWS have 8 picks going in to the draft. They may well do more trading to reduce this. But the new rule clearly states a club cannot trade and end up with more picks than vacancies on their list. This was to stop the stockpiling of cheap, later picks to use on academy players. And don't GWS have to reduce the number of players on their list next year by 2? Bit of a gamble, but there might be a GWS give away or fire sale of picks/players with a day to go in the trade period.
-
Do you mean because GWS would be less likely to use 2 than 3 on Setterfield if Bombers called their bluff? Or that Brisbane may have called their bluff at 3 if the Bombers didn't? It's certainly a good deal for Brisbane.
-
True, and not saying it would happen, but if a player of Heeney's ilk indicated he might move, we'd be mad not to entertain a reasonable offer. All hypothetical of course.
-
The whole system is open to manipulation and underhanded deals. It's the nature of the business and need to get better at working it. We have improved during Roos' reign, and must continue to under Goodwin
-
Not a pressing need anymore across the backline and the draft cost wouldn't be worth it. Would probably take a future pick away from next year's bumper draft. If we were doing that, I'd rather a high end mid or an experienced key forward who can support Gawn in the ruck. Actually, just the high end mid.

Do not sell your intuition short Mono. Nothing is surer.
