I don't see Neeld as the Messiah either. He is, however, a coach that has changed us from a team of skinny pretty boys that wait outside the contest and play for uncontested possessions to a team that has to go in hard after the footy at every contest. If players don't do this, they'll be playing in the VFL. JV is the type that the coach likes. He will slot straight into the team, I suspect. He's a 'Neeld Player'. (I'm not going to refrain from using this term).

I worded that poorly. Ricky P can be a game changer. He is not vital to the structure of the team and the team is not drastically altered when he's out. He's a loss though, and would be one of the first I'd pick every week.

I'm well aware that Neeld didn't invent getting the hard ball. But that is the style of player Neeld loves, Jack Viney is that type of player, hence Jack Viney is a Neeld type player. Don't understand your problem with me calling him this.

There was an article on the MFC website last week about Moloney and they spelled his name 'Maloney'. This mistake drives me nuts, but when it's on our club's official website it is very poor. In the Mystery Injury thread it was reported that he was seen in a moon boot, so that would explain it. I find it amusing that many on here were calling for Lawrence to be upgraded when he is still on the brink of playing VFL and VFL reserves.

Hopefully round 1 excitement plays a factor and we can crack the 30k mark. I do agree that 25 is more likely, though.

Yes, that is not a very strong lineup. Frawley, Garland & co. should dominate them. Don't be surprised to see Merrett go forward for them though. Either way, our back line > their forward line. This is probably why Neeld has the confidence in moving players like Grimes into attack.

We've been given tough round 1 games every year in my recent memory. Each year, with the exception of last year, we've been thrashed. I really think we're a chance to break out of our round 1 slump this weekend. I remember that game fondly. I watched most of it in the sports department at Myer.

I'm not surprised at all. There were very few encouraging signs last season to convince people who were on the fence about becoming members to actually sign up. Hopefully this year will be different and we can show some improvement. It all starts on Saturday.

Very true, especially at the G. I loved the Round 14, 2008 game (when we won by a point), as well as Round 5 in 2010 (Ruining their perfect start to the season with a dominant performance). Hopefully there will be positive signs that come out of this weekend.
