  1. Footskills footskills footskills - worth repeating 3 times. Crucial out of the back half. I like that we have noticeably increased the talent pool and hopefully any make progress next year. McKenzie will be a great litmus test for us. I like his endeavor but we know his limitations and you want him to struggle to get a game because it means there are 6-8 mids with more talent who are playing up to their ability.
  2. I think we are so used to drafting players that don't get past average and trading in players for various reason haven't been world beaters we are overwhelmed when we trade for a potentially good footballer and in his first season with us he delivers ( probably overdelivered on expectation)
  3. Jonno Brown really was puff and bluff - if only he showed some heart and aggression at the man and contest he could have been an ok footballer.
  4. It's big footy. It's a given.
  5. We cleaned up for one reason and one reason alone ( disclaimer - I am basing this purely on Tysons one season with us and the confidence/hope that his form will continue). We swapped a very high draft pick for a player who in his very first season played for us like a very high draft pick. In my mind that is cleaning up. Giving away 20,and 72 and getting Salem and 53 is yet to play out.
  6. I can think of one poor executioner that earned a contract worth almost double what Frawley is getting. Funnily enough he also originally wore red and blue.
  7. Quick repsonse !!!! Thanks for your email. I saw this post on Demonland yesterday and have actually been working to get the contact details (or provide mine) to the person that posted this message (and ideally ‘The Professors’) to discuss this with them. In terms of what we do for the 50+ year consecutive members it is as follows: - Recognition certificate and pin (for each decade milestone from 10 up to 80) - 50 year member function during the year at the MCG where all 50 year members get the chance to mingle with past and current players, staff and directors where we acknowledge their significant contribution to the Club through their memberships. Members receive a personal invitation in the mail in the months leading up to this event. - Acknowledgement via an honour roll on the website - Coverage of the 50 year member function on the website and social media - Acknowledgement in either the season guide or the yearbook The above acknowledgements are something that I personally introduced 3 years ago and we’ve had great feedback from all of our members that have been with the Club for more than 50 years consecutively. I agree that it is really important to acknowledge these members and was really disappointed to see the comments on Demonland about the perceived lack of acknowledgement for these members, who have stuck by the Club through what many would describe as at times, a challenging period in our Club’s history. IN 2014 we had 115 members that have been members for more than 50 years consecutively, which I agree is a significant achievement.
  8. You summed what I like in movies - very British. British film makers do quirky, left of centre so well.
  9. You are mad. You are delusional. You are demented. I like your style.
  10. I have written to the club ( which is not something I do) as on face value, this is very poor.
  11. Just to get some perspective - This past season - Swans - Buddy 79, Two players hit early 30's, and two players hit mid 20's. The balance was under 20 goals. Taking into account that we will get goals from mids - if we get close to the above goalkicking we will be playing finals.
  12. You can point to other things that "compromise" outcomes. What about the Tribunal going light on suspensions at the end of the year and basically making sure that top players do not get suspend for finals - that has been in vogue for the last 5-10 years. What about a compromised draw ? There will be no asterix - there will just a nice big flag and silverware and the word Premier after the clubs name.
  13. I think you might find it is called learning the game.
  14. If Salem proves to be a good footballer then what does it matter - Roos called the trade a win/win. Again if Salem proves to be a good footballer then we got exactly what we need - the injection of two good footballers into our club instead of one.
  15. In fairness - Cameron went off the boil this season ( mainly because of injury). His first two seasons which totalled 35 games were very very good
  16. two seasons ago I saw the team through hands over my eyes, my head shaking and muttering " oh my god, oh my god, please make this pain go away"
  17. He is definitely marches to the beat of a different drum but I have never had a problem with him. I don't take to some of his preaching but he doesn't go out and get himself messy, he doesn't go out and get punchy, he doesn't dummy spit on the ground. He seems to me like a a good team player and will mentor our younger players well on how the game needs to be played. I am really looking forward to him in our colours and have zero problem with him being part of the leadership group - irrespective if he is or isn't it will not stop him being a leader as he has apparently already shown at training.
  18. I have no doubt that the intensity of the training has progressively got harder since Misson has arrived. I do temper my excitement though over the December/January champions until they reproduce during the real stuff.
  19. No.. I think they have raised bar year on year since Misson has been onboard - exactly like he said he would.
  20. I see the 2015 team through Rose colored glasses - like the majority of Demonland.
  21. I am expecting Hogan to be lining for his 151st goal in the Grand Final against StKilda - I am expecting Cowboy Neale to have punched half his ear off but Hogan to still kick that magical 151st goal. It's December.
  22. Yeah...it's cheap talk. Paul Roos choses words carefully.. "I think Jimmy can be a quality AFL player and I said that to him in his post-season interview," "He (Toumpas) needs to stop worrying about what pick three or pick six is doing, and it can be hard not to do that. But he has got serious talent to be an AFL player." Notice Roos says Jimmy CAN be a quality player ? Notice Roos says he has the talent to BE an AFL player. No grand pronouncements ( contrast to Leon Cameron's ridiculous assertions about "he who shall not be named" last week). The only thing missing from Roos statement is the final line - 'now it's time to deliver"
  23. Obviously you don't read the preseason reports all that much as it was well documented that when Neeld came in and he brought in Dave Misson the comments were that we were light years off in terms of fitness and it would take us at least 3 preseasons to get to the levels that the better clubs were at. And the problem is that we were so far behind that the three preseasons it would take to catch up would only get us to where the good clubs were 3 preseasons ago. Any of this ringing any bells ? It does not surprise me at all that the players are saying this regarding the running and training and I don't think it is bull at all. Again, we can knock Neeld for many things but he certainly implemented a professional fitness regime under Dave Misson ( who had previously worked with Roos)
  24. Gnasher ? ( you only have yourself to blame for opening this up !)
  25. There is a room for improvement in all areas of his game but he is not completely defensively unaccountable. He gets back to help in defence and he chases. To my memory he did not have an opponent that cut him to ribbons last year. He is a 21 year old with 35 games to his name. I stand by the comments that he has displayed all the attributes to have a successful career. I used Morton as the counter to the example as he showed early promise but he not only had areas to improve in - he had areas that he showed no aptitude in at all. Without wanting to reignite the Watts debate - many are saying he will be a very good footballer when he develops a "physical" side to his game. This is not something he needs to improve on - this is more a glaring deficiency and needs to surface. Something that is being displayed so rarely that many question if he will ever find an appetite for the contest. Tyson has areas to improve on but I don't see glaring deficiencies except for the odd fluffed disposal.
