  1. Look, i have to admit that i'm worried about what Miller's going to give us this year, but i say he's still in our 22 for round one. Last year he was ravished by the dreaded OP, like Sylvia and Moloney. In that final against Freo, he showed me he still has a passion to for Melbourne, it was the hardest i've ever seen him work. I'm not saying that one game gives him a three year contract, but i think that he'll given a fair enough oportunity to prove himself again. I'd also like to say that i think there's a spot for both Miller and Dunn in our side, they play a much different style of football. With Dunn being forward flanker that plays quite close to goal and Miller being more of a link man in the CHF position. However, Miller i'm sure will admit that his career is at the cross-roads and if he doesn't perform this year, i can't see him being in the Red and Blue for 2008.
  2. I hope he's able to get it all back on track, he seems very genuine about wanting to kick his addiction. Big call on his part though to say "i'll never gamble again". Doesn't really leave much room. Good to hear the players and the club sticking by him to help him through this difficult problem.
  3. Maybe i've been hearing the news wrong, but i was under the impression that they'd got Moloney more or less over his OP. I thought were just playing it extremely conservatively with him, i haven't heard anything against his selection for round 1. The other person that people are forgetting about is Miller having OP last year. Now i was a big rap for him two years ago, since then i, along with many others, have been dissapointed. However, it's clear that ND and others rate him, this seems like a crossraods year for him so i hope for his sake he can stay injury free.
  4. Yeah i thought Belly had a good game tonight, Miller's got to start taking the ball in front again, too often he went chest instead of in front. Bruce showed he wants to make 2007 a big one, and Jones looks like he's fit and ready to take on a freight train. I'm not going to panick, and i'm sure that while everyone would've liked a win tonight, round 1 is what we're focused on.
  5. It's being broadcasted on SEN, Tripple M, and 3AW. You should be able to listen online at the respective websites, although i've been having a bit of trouble with the SEN website. Hope that helps.
  6. Dammit! It sounded like these two were having good pre-seasons, Moloney crawling back from his OP from last year and I hadn't heard any problems with Brock. Good to hear that Jones was dominating though, i get the feeling he'll be getting huge run in the NAB cup. I hope Bruce can recapture the form that saw him Brownlow favourite in 2004, when he's that good he's just unstoppable. I look forward to hearing more reports about today.
  7. Ah no probs mate, i just no that there are a few supporters of other teams that post here. I'm also really gullable.
  8. Eh? Ain't you a Dees man? Great to see Davey's showing some loyalty so early in his career with us.
  9. Even if Foxtel gets the rights, there will be no "footy channel". Fox Footy Channel has been done and dusted, it was costing foxtel too much money. Should they get the rights to 4 games then it will most likely be shown on Fox Sports 3, as the A-League will be finishing soon. As for replays of games on FTA, i don't know whether they'll get that, foxtel might just be content with replaying the games they get to show like what they do with the EPL.
  10. Did anyone go to this? If so, could they give us a report on how the day went?

    new stickers

I was told once that red is the hardest colour on a sticker to keep the same when exposed to sunlight. As undeeniable said, it sometimes just depends on the batch.
  12. Bump
  13. I was under the impression that the training complex was INSIDE the proposed stadium. If the stadium's called off, are you saying that the government is still going to build us (the Melbourne Union [Victory, Storm, MFC]) a seperate training complex?
  14. Tickets $100 - these admit two people Have i read that wrong or is it saying you can only pay minimum of $100, but you can bring someone else in as well? Because if your going on your own i'm not sure many people would want to pay 100 bucks entry, or what happens of there's 3 people that want to go.
  15. I spose we could piggy back onto the redevelopment of Olympic Park, but my first choice is still to be at this new stadium. I think some people might be getting carried away with the success of the Victory, as i said on Demonology i still think that it's a good idea to be playing the bulk of the Victory games at a packed house of about 25-30,000 and then play the marquee matches (Sydney, Adelaide) at Telstra to get maximum attendance. However, if the Victory really want a stadium of 40,000, then the spot that they've got atm won't do and that'll probably leave us (MFC) wandering again. The only other thought is that we take the proposed spot for ourselves and turn it into a training and fitness base, but that cost shitloads and i don't think we have it.

    TV rights

I imagine that the only way full Footy matches will be shown on Foxtel is if Foxtel (and PBL) conceede to 7 and 10's terms, and i can't see that happening. Foxtel having been gunning for the same price, but more games. At first i thought they'd succeed but it looks like 7 and 10 are going to make sure they get the price that THEY want. Foxtel on the other hand are saying that while they'd love to have the Football, if 7 and 10 want to go it alone then Foxtel (and PBL) want to see them do it. Let's not forget that 7 have bought the rights to the V8's as well. I'm not going to be happy about it if it's just going to be FTA because i have foxtel, but as long as i get to see the interstate games that Melbourne are involved in live then i don't mind.
  17. I enjoy the concept of it, but it's really starts to become clear that it's an amateur league versus a professional league because we always seem to run out the series the better. The physicality of the Aussies is how they have been raised to play OUR GAME. If this truly is a hybrid game it would be wrong for us to tell the players to go at it any differently than what they've been taught. The Irish don't go for the biffo, but they act like children baiting a dog. They kick the shins, knee and head butt our players behind play and what the hell do they expect from us. To say thank you, can I have another please? They are certainly not innocent. The Irish media called the last game “tame” and “lacking”, now when there’s some fire in this match the Aussie players are called thugs. I never thought I’d agree with Sheedy, but the Irish media need to get over themselves and their passion, they need to open their eyes and realise that quite often it was an Irish player (in this series) that started a lot of the spot fires, and all in brawls. If they truly want to end this series, then fine. But it won't be our fault, and let's face it, it was our physicality and ability to create this rivalry that got 82,000 people into the ground.
  18. Maybe i'm being biased, but Melbourne seems to be one of the few sides that has actually been able to take advantage of the new quick kick in rule. Plus our zoning when we've got a behind is certainly not full proof, quite often, throught laziness and poor marking, they have been able to get the link man with no troubles.
  19. Ottens's mark was taken over Jolly which is no mean feet, Yze's looks better and, for his size, it looks like he's got up into the heaven's, but i have a feeling it'll either be Mundy or Ottens.
  20. Brent Grgic (spelling?) looked very good for a while then went to crap. I was soooo glad when Geelong picked him up, i believe we even got Bizzell in that deal.
  21. Still getting used to it, huh? It really seems like you guys (admin) have gone all out to make this Demonland better. Let's keep searching for more hidden treasures in this forum!
  22. I'd love to see it back, i started watching footy just around the time that state rep footy was going out of fashion. But as a lot of people have said, the problem is that if someone gets seriously injured and it ends their season or career then clubs will ban players from doing it. I picked alternate years; hopefully it would make it a bigger thing. There needs to be more prestige in being picked, that way the players will want to be picked rather than refuse it. If we were to bring it back, I’d almost think that it'd be at the expense of the International rules. So if Ireland decides they don't want to go a few rounds with us then that might replace it.
  23. Does anyone know what predicted number CJ would've gone at in the draft? Would he be top 10-15?
  24. Ah thanks i knew i'd forgotten someone! Sorry but i don't know much to edit it, i geuss if someone wants to say CJ then just post him in.
  25. Our future doesn't look too bad!
