Quarter time. Not looking good at all. Sounds like Geelong's just working harder, and our forward line hasn't taken a mark inside 50. If this continues i can't see how we are going to get the goals. Melb 2.1.13 Geel 5.8.38

Put all your posts on the game in this thread, figured it'd be better than putting it in the same thread as the team. C'mon Melbourne, pull it out!
-
Yes i agree that Daniher is flawed as a coach at times, but to say the problem with our team is him is just stupid. Look at our injury list already: Neitz Robbo Brocky Bartram (all of these guys will be out for at least a month each) Dunn Frawley (these two would have been walk ups with our top line injuries) --------------------- UNDERDONE Pickett Macca He can't stop our players from getting injured, i will judge how he handles them critically but you've got to give some leeway. Not to mention in both games we have been down to a 2 person bench at half time (V Hawthorne).
-
I like your thinking, demondomination, but Pickett is really underdone and i'm not sure he's up to playing in the seniors yet. I realise that we have to make sacrifices with our injuries, but if he's not up to it then we should give someone else a go. You are so friggen right it's not funny, the experiment with Davey in the mid-field should end this week. He's down on confidence, and is getting slaughtered by all that come his way so lets put him at the feet on the forward contests.
-
With both out key forwards out for a couple of weeks, and i know just a month ago i would've been questioning him commitment, but it could be time for Miller to shine. Let's face, he is now the only key forward we have left, and as sad as it is to say, he will have to become our main target up forward. He looked a lot better yesterday, and if nothing else, when we were starting to claw ourselves back into the game he looked like the only person willing to take the game on. One game doesn't make a career, but the game in which everyone jumped on him as our CHF savior was against th dorks in 2003 (i think), maybe that's a sign!
-
Did they actually say panel, it might just be a segment that they're on for.
-
He's young, give him time. He was one among many who backed out of contests, missed targets, and didn't chase. It's the leaders who are supposed to tell him to moves his butt and help out his team mates, if they aren't setting a good example for him than what's he meant to reflect. I've liked the look of him since he debuted, ATM i agree he may not be in our best 22 and should maybe have a spell at Sandy to get some confidence but he'll be a very handy player for us in the future.
-
True, but of those three games only one was that we should have won and none of them were at the G. Round 1 was against the blues and for some reason they always win the first round, round 2 saw us come up against the Bulldogs at their peak of the year, and the last one was against Adelaide at Carrara and we were robbed of at least a draw. I'm certainly not panicking, but it makes our job harder later in the year.
-
I would love that to happen, we've really only seen glimpses of what he can do. Early last year was probably the best i've seen him play. Title of the thread says it all!
-
I agree with most of you here, but one things i'll say is that if he's saying that it was dumb football then that must mean that's not meant to be our style. So here comes the million dollar question, "WHAT IS OUR STYLE"? And if what we played on Friday night isn't what we're supposed to be doing, how can he as our senior coach let that happen? ATM i'm in this kind of under the surface anger, i'm bottling it up in the hope that next week the players will be so effing fired up that we will wipe the floor with Hawthorn and show who we really are. But believe me, if we don't perform well come easter Monday, god help me i will let it out. (Hopefully not on here though!) :D

This has been a dirty weekend so i'm not going to get my hopes up, but i'll just wish Brocky a speedy recovery.

It's nice to see these articles from time to time, it kind of vindicates a lot of our opinions.

Suddenly the saints having some tall timbre in their line up doesn't matter as much. It's a bit hard to gauge at this time who gets the advantage, i wonder whether it'd be harder for those coming in underdone. I still say we should win, but it'll ceratinly make it a tighter contest.
-
It must've been one of the toughest things for him to do. He's got my respect, and i appologise for bagging him a couple of years ago, i was not alone in being ignorant.
-
Injuries are pretty even IMO. I know Riewoldt is a big loss for the Saints, but i think Rivers balances that out as i think he's one of our most important players.
-
ATM about 7.5/10, when i wake up friday though it will be off the charts!!!!!!!
-
Completely agree with you, i am worried that to appoint him too early would harm his development. He WILL captain our club at one stage, but let's make sure the timing is right.
-
Bruce is an awesome player, in fact i don't think we can come close to challenging this year without him having a good season, but i'm not sure that he would be able to play his natural game as captain. I wouldn't be particuarly angry if the club decided to appoint Bruce next year, but i think the club and Cam would be better for if we had someone else.

Has he been on yet, or any word on when he'll be on?
