The Rise and Fall of VFL Park
Saw plenty of games from the members at Waverly. Only lived 10-15 mins away and had a relo living across the road so would park there till the traffic died down. Best ground away from the MCG. Everywhere else felt like I was slumming it. Also caught some nice redfin in the dam near the freeway. Good little spot.

2024 MRO & Tribunal
AFL deals up another howler straight up in 2024. I knew they would but didn't think it'd be so early in the year. Prepare for more as the season wears on. Mind boggling MRO decisions and corrupt umpiring/goal reviews are the reasons the game's losing its integrity.

Jack Watts interview
Took a small tribe of kids out to Casey to see the boys train back then. Jack Watts and Colin Sylvia were absolute rippers with them. Will always be champs after that in my eyes. And Watts goal against the Pies was one of the true spine tinglers. Was great to see it again. And I always felt for Watts. Very few players had to start their football careers under the microscope like he did.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
The club treated Grundy deplorably. Sang him a sugary song to get him here and then completely gave up on him halfway through the season. Leaving him out of the finals was the final insult. Played tonight like he'd had Gawns picture on the bathroom mirror all pre-season. What concerns me the most is the message that sends to other players we try to entice to the club in future. If things aren't quite clicking you could be frozen out real quick. Does that come under the culture category? I dunno. But it aint a good look.

Angus Brayshaw Forced into Retirement
I don't blame Maynard. Brayshaw is a victim of his own courage. I remember when Hogan and Brayshaw hit the scene together. All the hype was for Hogan but I was more excited about Brayshaw. He was a fearless bull with a splash of class in the middle and would often stick his head where it probably shouldn't go. I also remember he injured his neck (I believe) early on cause he tackled a guy head on head first.

Petracca: "When the pressure mounted... we crumbled"
He doesn't have to do more. Just needs to kick straight. And that goes for the rest of them too. We squandered those 2 finals with atrocious kicking.

2021 - Bang ..... bang, bang, bang.
Finishing on top was huge. Proved to themselves they were the best team of the season. I know I shed a tear when Gawn put it through. First time they'd been even near it in my lifetime. I shed another couple a few weeks later when Gawn slammed this one through. The captain was on a rampage and the boys were takin' us to the Big Show. Happy Days.

2021 - Bang ..... bang, bang, bang.
Since the weekend I've listened to the SEN call of the 2021 Prelim and GF while forking about in the shed. Last night I got home and watched this ....

The Dees Incredibly Frustrating to Watch
I hated watching the Swans under Roos. Refused to watch the Aints and Dockers under Lyon. And now I'm stuck watching us under Goodwin. We play boring, predictable, uninspiring footy and that is no way to build a supporter base while you're in contention. There is a bigger picture here folks.

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
My earliest melbourne memories are of Alves and Wells. The 1st jumper I wore had #15, the 2nd was 11. And Stan Alves was my very 1st autograph. Jolimont end goal square before training. I was so nervous.

Everyone Saying We Will Drop

Farewell James Harmes
Ahhh ... Harmesy. The lifelong Demons supporter who managed to pull on a Melbourne jumper and win us a drought breaking flag. He'll be forever smiling at me with his premiership medal from my shed wall. Good luck in all future endeavours to a forking legend.

First game?
Vaguely remember the head gear. But I do remember booming torp goals while he was CHF which originally caught my attention as a kid. I also remember back in the day when the players would run onto the field they'd boot half a dozen footys into the crowd at different points of the ground. The cheer squad was always on the 2nd tear on the outer wing and of course at least one footy was sent up to us. This day Smith come wandering toward us with his footy. I turned around to enable him to see the #35 on my back. He sent it on it's way and I was gearing up for a chest mark when a big kid in front of me took an overhead. I was spewin'. I remember saving up my pennies to get Steven 35 Smith on my duffle coat which I had ironed on at the sport shop over the off season. Round 1 he trots out in jumper#1. Spewin' again .... I coulda saved about $6 as it was one less number and #1s we're cheaper than 3s & 5s. Think it was about $15 all up. A fortune. Same price as KISS Alive II 😎 I also remember Leigh Matthews knocking him out with a round house king hit at Princess Park. Smith was giving him a bath but we still had a monumental victory that day. One of many false dawns I witnessed. And I saw it Sandy and Bobby. Right in front of me. Should've got about 6weeks but didn't get reported. And didn't we give the blind goal umpire hell about it.
