The Breaking of Nathan Jones
When the game is on the line you need/expect the captain of all people to be making the correct decisions.

Trevor Hendy & Mark Visser at the MFC
Actually preferred Akta-Vite to Ovaltine. But been a long time since I've had either.

The Breaking of Nathan Jones
He aint that cool. As demonstrated Rd23 last year against North in the dying minutes with a poor decision/disposal/turnover costing the game.

Robbie Flower: 20 Great Goals
Only repeating what the great man stated in his own book.

The Roar online has us 13th
C'mon man. You can't talk of watching the Bulldogs and Tigers and then throw in Ross Lyons name. Polar opposites. And if we want to build a clubs membership that people want to watch getting free to air TV time and sponsors, you can't have Lyon killing any creativity the players have with his mind numbing game plan.

Agree with the early games comment. A couple poor loses and their confidence will be shot and that .... Will be that.

Jack Viney a Liability?
Even the best can get cleaned up when they're open. Just ask Brereton.

Robbie Flower: 20 Great Goals
Good game that. A rare victory over the Dawks on their own dung heap. Rhino Richards got his name that day when he ran through Dipper and booted a goal. Also up our end ?

Giles got cleaned up in the same pocket. If I was there I woould have remembered it. I was behind the gooals at Princess Park when he got Steven Smith though. From behind, just as cowardly.

Why the Excuses for the Bombers?
My hatred of this arrogant club and their supporters cannot be understated.

Robbie Flower: 20 Great Goals
Flower in this day and age would be an absolute weapon. Imagine a lightning quick hard running wingman with elite skills who played tall and impacted the scoreboard regularly. He'd be writing his own ticket.

Robbie Flower: 20 Great Goals
The goal at 1:49 against Hawthorn. That was late in the last qr infront of me and he got a closeline shepard that should have been a free to Dawks. Exciting game as a Melbourne supporter at the time as we were on the bottom as usual and the Hawks were on top and only lost by a kick. Also read in Flowers book that the song was sung in the rooms by the players after the game despite the loss such was their excitement for pushing the dawks so close. Which he found disappointing.

Lions Trying to Avoid "Doing a Melbourne"
I'll go back to 2001. Grand finalists to 11th. Our history is littered with pathetic. And it does my head in.

Lions Trying to Avoid "Doing a Melbourne"
I watched their nothing club win 3 flags in a row. If only our nothing club could produce something similar.

Mooney backs the Dees
No arguements from me. Roos steadied the ship no doubt but we were still boring to watch. I also knew it would be so when we signed him as when he was at the swans and were on the TV I'd change the channel. Same when Lyon coached the Aints. As for us going forward I feel we need to be watchable to build a club fans and members can get excited by. Which will bring in more members, more free to air TV time, more sponsors and importantly ...... More money.

Mooney backs the Dees
Pretty sure it was Lyons gameplan that Roos used at the Swans so ..... Roos would actually be a cardboard cut out of Ross Lyon. Couldn't handle Lyon at Melbourne though. It's one thing to be garbage but another to be batsheet boring garbage. What he should do is coach one of the womens teams. Those scorelines would suit him down to the ground.

Northey era vs Daniher era
Debatable. 87' premlim. 22pts up at 3/4 time and blew it with poor kicking. Why we let Northey and Spalding walk after is beyond me. And for what it's worth. The Daniher years were a disgrace for the clubs flakiness. Even in the up years they would look unbeatable for a block of games and then lose blocks of games. They'd either come out firing early in the season and then collapse or were poor early season and made late runs to fall into the finals. The 2002 semi final against Adelaide was Melbourne in a nutshell. Gave adelaide and 8goal head start in the 1st qr. Come storming back in the 2nd and 3rd playing some of the best footy I've seen us play and then just stopping dead in the last. Don't get me started on the down years.
