PREGAME: Rd 10 vs West Coast
@WalkingCivilWar do you have any inside gossip on whether they're training in WA this time around? My 5 yr old son is super hyped to see the dees so I'm keen to hear about any opportunities there might be for player interaction. How early before bounce down do the players usually warm up before heading back down the race? Cheers.

Keen to get the panels view on the season to date. I'm happy sitting 5-2, but realise we have a tough little block coming up. Whilst our form hasn't been our best in everygame, our results have been about as good as I would have hoped for. Losses to Sydney at the SCG and Brisbane aren't cause for dismay IMO. I think we'll learn alot about where we are at over the next 2-3 weeks, but I am continually frustrated by the posters on demonland and various social media platforms that seem to expect champagne football every week. A win is a win at this stage of the season IMO

Love the pod, and especially love the annual chat around loading/tapering/sports science. Mainly because it has me challenging my own view of elite sports and training. Binmans logic is sound and ready for a challenge as usual, its round 5, not round 15! No doubt we're fatigued from a number of highly intense, contested games. But I couldn't get on board with any of the suggestion that 'maybe' we decided to put additional load into the players. We had an off game. We went in sore and tired - we carried too many half fit guys into the game and lost Salem early. Up against last year's runners up who are starting to hit their stride after a shortened preseason. That's the analysis imo. Additional loads? Yeah, nah.

Um
Interestingly I read this OP before listening to this week's pod, and still didn't have an issue. Anyone referencing stats whilst waxing lyrical on the subject is going to be prone to the odd pause or 'um', and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it imo. Binman is the messiah of Demonland (just wait for the mid season loading/tapering prophecy). Jog on son!

Loving the pod again this year gents. When the crows were making a charge late all of the banter from last weeks match review around MFCSS and the 5 day break were ringing in my ears. Gutsy in the end from the boys, carn you Demons. Keen to see what Binmans analysis of the stats looks like. Lots of low numbers and down performances but ultimately got it done.

About 10 minutes into the game I was completely relaxed, knowing we'd win by 5+ goals. Opposition coaches are scared to kick the ball long and risk turnover to Gawn, May and Lever. I hadn't seen such spineless ball movement since the Neeld era Demons. Question is, does the panel think teams will move the ball with more confidence against a side missing Lever and May? I'm quietly confident that we have the depth to cover them, I'd probably favour Petty going back with Thommo and TMac. Same Forward line as round 1 should be ok

Matthew Lloyd Worried About the Dees in 2024
Everything apart from 'they were found out in the finals'. Our inaccurate kicking caught up with us. I don't think out game style failed us. Maybe it's semantics to some, but I think there's an argument to say we let ourselves down, more so than got found out by opposing teams in those 2 finals. I agree with the instability and the question mark about whether our gamestyle will hold up again.
