  1. My favourite part was seeing the look on Mitch's face when we had obviously lost, but he didnt even play (ws injured). He was hurting. Rawlings and whoever else was behind the Clark coup should take a bow. The guy can play, but seems to be a natural leader and a passionate club man - i havent seen that type of passion from a 1st year recruit EVER
  2. I'd back Henry Rollins haha
  3. Thast actually a really good point. Pendlebury, Beams, Sidebottom, Wellingham, Thomas, Blair arent huge blokes. They're just super fit and strong enough through the core to stand up in tackles and not get pushed off the ball too easily. I'm guessing thats why Neeld asked Beamer to trim down of GTFO!
  4. i wouldnt trade Gysberts for Stevens
  5. Nothing like Masten Shuey or Gaff IMO
  6. i think he would be in line to get more games if WCE didnt have Kerr still playing like a gun. Stevens is by no means a ready to go, AFL standard mid, but given some time playing at that level should be able to make it.
  7. i see it. He has an uncanny nack of making a contest or spoil when he looks like he shouldnt be able to get there, he'sa 1%er expert, and has absolutley no ego about him - i can see how people might rate him highly
  8. righto, well i'll hang my hat on the last point only then! Lets focus on getting our draft pics and recruitment of AFL players right for a year or two and then turn our hand to finding the next Jim Stynes
  9. spot the falcons supporter?!
  10. Unfortunately, I think going for international recruits is somewhat of a luxury, the type of thing you would do if you had a strong list and were able take a punt on your rookie pics I feel we will be trying to recruit football players (WAFL, SANFL & VFL) with these sort of picks, so have no room for speculative guys from overseas. I don't resent the club for this, as I'd be p1ssed if the recruiters were looking for talent overseas when we struggle to make the most of the National Draft as it is!
  11. Kane Mitchell won the Sandover last night with a record number of votes. (same number as Priddis before he was finally drafted). Would be happy to get either of Mitchell or Blackwell with a late draft selection or rookie pick
  12. Yeah great game. Also had chistmas lemmings, which was basically lemmings but they all wore santa hats! class
  13. I actually think he'd be a good player for us and I'd trust neeld to make the right call. Yes he plays in a team where he's a 2nd tier mid, but perhaps he'd thrive from being a key player? If neeld reckons he's worth the big money we should offer it to him. We have no choice but to trust neeld at this stage
  14. agreed mate
  15. totally agree, as a player how frustrating would it be to play finals and not get free's that you had been given all year? The Eagles Pies game had alot of high contact that wasnt paid because there wasnt alot in it, BUT every one of them would have been paid in a home and away fixture. Problem is the AFL chop and change and manipulate the rules as they see fit because they have no international governing body or other Elite comps which might kick back againt their constant tinkering.
  16. I actually hate that the umpires put their whistles away. Its good for the game to keep moving, but in my eyes the game should be umpired the same all season, so i dont like seeing such a drastic change in the way the game is officiated.
  17. the OP is a little heavy handed but I agree that hearing the anthem isnt totally neccesary before evry finals match. However at elast we dont play it before every game like they do with the star spangled banner in the States!
  18. Ouch! / www.problemgambling.vic.gov.au/
  19. Neeld has 2 more years to run in his contract. If he trades gysberts I'll be disappointed but I'll understand. Neeld doesn't have the time to sit around waiting fo potential to come good. If we get Shannon burns and another player or a late pick then we've done ok for our short term needs. Jack viney is likely to get the spot that the gys is after anyway, but gysberts will be a gun at a club like Geelong
  20. I'd prefer to see the pies win I've got 4 cartons riding on it and I HATE west coast
  21. If rivers goes, as it seems could be case, I'd be surprised if he gets more money or a longer contract than what we would offer him. IMO he'd be leaving to chalk up a few wins before he retires, because god knows we still have some pain to go through until we are consistently there or there abouts with the top sides
  22. Moloney and Rivers are expected to leave as free agents, and Jordan Gysberts and Colin Garland have attracted interest from other clubs - HUN Surley we wont trade Garland unless the deal is absolutley awesome?
  23. I generally hedge my bets on 3 favourites depending on the odds. Use the same philosophy in World cups and other round robin type comps. Basically if you can narrow down the field to 3-4 contenders, and the odds are >$3 then you'll always come away with some sort of profit. you have to outlay a fair bit to make it worth while, and hope a rank outsider doesnt win though, so its a bit harder to pull off on the charlie. This year its not as clear cut as previosu years but might go for Cotchin, Watson, Thompson
