  1. I agree, but jeez he has been average since coming back. Particularly in terms of turnovers.
  2. I largely agree but I'd play trenners exclusively as a mid. That's his position and if he comes back over his foot problem will be like having a gun recruit
  3. depends what you mean. Of course we can match an offer but unlike the case for a restricted free agent this does not compelled him to stay (or go into the draft)
  4. I reckon a big part of why North has had the wood on us is that prior to the Neeld period (when we just rubbish) we were quite attacking but so were the Roos. Two similar styles but they have been better and their attacking style completely exposed our weak defense. Things are different now and i think we are a much better match up for them (and Geelong for that matter), style wise.
  5. I have some sympathy regarding big statements. My big statements at the beginning of last year about Watts becoming our most important player, pushing for AA selection by 2014 and having 3 AA selections by about 2017 are looking a little shaky. Damn Roos and his focus on players just playing their role!!! Didn't even cross my mind to suggest it would actually be Dunn making AA
  6. I also agree. He flagged today that the dees still needs mids, plural and that's what they would be after come trade period (tall ones at that). Can't see why they wouldn't try a similar strategy that netted Tyson and Salem and i can see the dees developing a good relationship with GWS to engineer trade win wins over the next 2-3 years. Trading back into high draft picks is smart by GWS as it ensures a good age range across their list and mitigates against having a successful side in 3 years but with a bubble of good players around the same age with a drop off in quality behind it.
  7. I agree on Riley. He was poor but Roos doesn't drop players for being poor, particularly after one week. He drops them for not playing their role, which makes me wonder why Terlich was dropped, meaning i wonder if he broke team rules or went away from his assigned roles. Funnily enough i suspect Salem was not dropped last week, despite seemingly needing a rest, because he played poorly and Roos did not want to send the wrong message.
  8. Surely a chance at All Australian? Come on Demonland imagine the embarrassment if he makes AA and is not on our banner! Make it happen.
  9. I think they were saying once Salem marked he should have run to the goal square for a Joe the goose. So much for so called expert comments as that would have been the worst thing he could have done as it would have involved considerable risk. For one thing it would of created a little of confusion in Salem's mind - do I flick it over the top to the senior player or go the shot. We have all seen examples of a player caught in two minds and blowing it (like bail in the 2 q). Imagine if he made a mistake with handball. Also going back and kicking eeked 45 seconds or so of the clock. Dawes immediate reaction was to tell Salem to settle. As a poster has said heady stuff from Dawes and great leadership.
  10. I have to say the bombers fans around me were all pretty good and no one was mouthing off. Mainly families though. Given how loud i was was pleasantry surprised no one had a shot at me (though i didn't bag bombers). I had a similar experience against Tigers. The worst i have had this year was a [censored] head Swans supporter (a straight looking dude with his teenage son) who right from the get go decided that every time i yelled anything he would yell some idiotic response. When Franklin got that super soft free kick i yelled out that with the money he was being paid he didn't need any charity. A pretty mild joke i would have thought. When Franklin got a goal a bit later he yelled 'do you have any more jokes"? I wanted to trot out the old chestnut that a a decent team would be 10 goals up but i figured that would be bagging the dees. Smug and insufferable.
  11. I'm a little gun shy regarding definitive statements after declaring their was no chance of terlich getting dropped so I'll just say I don't think either Salem or bail will be dropped. Salem for obvious reasons and bail because he works so damn hard and xall me crazy but i reckon roos thinks two way gut running is kind of important (which is one reason I rate mat Jones)
  12. it could happen exactly the way we got tyson, who was also contracted.
  13. I thought Blease might be a chance but not on that review. Roos won't make any more than 2 changes, indeed on form perhaps will only make the one. Mckenzie and Kent seem to be the two most likely to go up. I think JKH and Salem will get dropped - with JKH perhaps the more likely of those to to go down.
  14. They could have a lovely chat about offence versus defense. Roosy couldn't help but be impressed by his expertise given how offensive HH can be.
  15. I agree will all of that, though i reckon 39 is no chance of being dropped and nor is Garland (though you're right he is not back anywhere near his best). Cannot take seriously any suggestions that Dawes should be dropped.
  16. There is no chance Terlich will be dropped.
  17. Yep, good point well made. So perhaps not Blease then - but surely McKenzie doesn't help the pace issue, nor Riley or the toump for that matter. So perhaps only Salem out and Kent in.
  18. As others have noted Roos has flagged some changes with his comments in the presser about a coupe of the young players tiring. from that i suspect Salem and JKH might go back. There are a handful of players that meet the Roos test of having strung 5-6 good games together at Casey. These are Nicholson, Mckenzie, Kent and perhaps Blease (who has had at least 3 good games in a row). Add to that Riley and the Toump who have been in and out of the seniors. My tip for who they will bring in (as opposed to who i think they should) is Kent (fast, good penetrating kick, attacking and best 22) and ..drumroll... Blease. We really lack speed of the half back flank and if you look at how Sydney play it is a vital element of the Roos game plan. Also we'replaying at the g and will need pace. He has been ok the last few weeks at Casey and is working on his defensive game - and i gather, playing at half back. Also its getting close to the time where Roos will want to see what he's got to offer at senior AFL level before making a call to keep or trade. The VFL player review will tell a tale i reckon.
  19. ah yes, so it is. In which case you will be able to just about to sit anywhere
  20. I'm almost 100% sure that the only ga at ethisd is the top deck. But there will be no problems whatsoever getting a seat up there. At the city end there is OK bar where you can get heavy beer and an outdoor area. You can go straight upstairs from there.
  21. bollocks, just bollocks. I saw it all along ad did others. If you and others didn't - well what can I say.
  22. could not agree more. Beggars belief that anyone would actually think delisting dunn would have ever been a good idea, let alone after his best session of afl last year
