  1. A lot gets said about the tiger's system. And rightfully so. It relies on everyone knowing their role, everyone executing their role and total trust from the team that all players will do so. Goody is a systems man. I reckon there are some players who get games because they do what they are told to. They execute their role. The comment from Macca in that interview marries up with Earle fascinating post that Macca told him at training that some of the young players were not following instructions on game day.
  2. OMac will play senior football next year. Happy to place an avatar bet on it.
  3. I'm pretty sure a Haiku only has three lines. And 17 (5-7-5) syllables. Here's my Haiku reply to your Haiku: Have gone cold on Frost Not such a great defender Omac will shine now
  4. Agree. Going away for a few weeks to think things over is not what you want to hear if you are a pies fan keen to keep him!
  5. Not quite as funny as anyone suggesting dazzler question OMac and see who he has ever beaten. A joke that would be even funner if it was suggested STMJ or jnrmac might want to question OMac and see who he has ever beaten. By the way the answer to the question is Omac has beaten very power forward in the league.
  6. Agree. Ralphy suggesting the club does too.
  7. No. The primary job of a defender is to stop the opposition scoring goals.
  8. Most of all i reckon he needs to get quicker from a standing start. i hope burgess focuses on improving his speed over the first 5 metres
  9. Great post. The bolded bit is why i don't get too caught up in all the trading and drafting shenanigans. What will be will be. I understand that people love the various permutations and back and forths, and good luck to them - i like reading it. But for me its bit like the weather. A persons opinion about it isn't going to have an impact on it. by the by not every one dislikes Oscar. He'll play plenty of senior footy next year, mark my words.
  10. I'm a betting man. And i'm willing to be that some DL posters are more likely to look like idiots again (not you Kent). Actually what i'll bet is that some DL posters will take any frost highlight for the rest of his career as proof positive we made a howler in trading him and Hawks are genius. And hawk fans who watch him week in and week and out will weep at recruiting Frostball.
  11. Funnily enough tigers are using the really long handball to clear an area quite a bit. Robbie was beautiful hand baller wasn't he. On both sides. What a player. With his skills and running ability would thrive in today's footy.
  12. For verisimilitude please rotate your avatar 180 degrees.
  13. This is exactly right. A huge weakness in his game. The issue i think is that he doesn't read the ball well in flight so whist he is strong and one on one really good, a forward who reads the flight of the a ball well will hurt him and often can, wit a slight nudge, get him under the ball. A good example of that was gunston out marking him the semi last year. Frosty is heavier and stronger than gunston but did not have his ability to read the flight of the ball and ended up way out of position.
  14. I get emotionaly attached to players so never like seeing any go. But leaving that aside we won't miss frost (well the fans will miss some of the crazy football moments) from a team perspective. He is not a natural defender but the real issue is his disposal. In a team with so many poor kicks frost would need to be elite in another area (and not speed, sheesh) to overcome his rubbish kicking. It's not just the goals that we concede because of his turovers it the scoring chances we miss out on because the possession chain is broken (sometimes at the first link!). One thing I was surprised at was that goody never experimented with a set play of frosty taking a kick out, playing on and running for the 20 metres that gift them and roosting a torp 60 metres down the ground to a predertimined area (a predetermined spot would be a tad optimistic) to say maxy. That would get the ball well over half way.
  15. What us the stuff about needing frost's speed? Again, we dont need quick key defenders. We need quick, skilled mids and forwards. Everyone is raving about Richmond. Riddle me this - who is their super fast key defender? Or for that matter any other super fast key defender from ine if tbe four preliminary final team?
  16. True (tgough hawks are good in this regard to) but it has taken time to get to the place where they are now in terms of a culture strong enough to absorb and shape perceived bad apples. Easy to forget how long tigers have been building that culture. On that Hardwick can obviously get some credit but much respect must go to O'Neill, gale and their board, particularly back in 2016 when they stuck fat and refused to deviate from their plan.
  17. Agree. I think Smith was a big loss this year. I really rate him and have tge feeking tbat wirh some luck with injury he could become something special. Smith's unavailability exacerbated the issues created by weeds and Mac's struggles and the absence of hannan and avb. We just could not bring the ball to ground often enough. Not that had anyone who could rove the spill. I read an article in the age (I think- I forget by whom - gleeson maybe?) that talked about the importance of lynch and reiwoldt bringing the ball to ground when they were unable to mark (which is increasingly hard to do with zines and floods). I'm sure the plan was for Smith to play that role for the dees. Hit the pack and use his athletism and leap to create araerial contests. I am really pleased he has re signed and really hope he stays fit. If he does he will be like a new recruit for us.
  18. In today's footy, with the use of zones and screens. knowing where to put and being able to do so (e.g. by weighting the ball chipping over a wall etc) is more important than a laser like kick. Just look at how hard tigers made it for gws to get the ball forwa4d of centre. This is one reason why fritter, who is a beautiful kick, turned it over often when playing back. Struggled to get it to where it needed to go.
  19. Not our pick 21 (and maybe a future pick back if they figure he is not worth pick 21)?
  20. Just saw this. 100% agree. I don't mind the priority pick (though you can only laugh when they get a pick right before our first 2 picks). But I will mind if like may, lynch, Martin etc they up and leave in 2 years time
  21. Agree. Im also surprised they didnt get some more support in terms of governance and football department
