  1. It was definately the end of the 07 season. The rookie draft is held at the start of the 08 year so perhaps that is why the anomoly on the website.... He had the full 2008 at Melbourne. That's 5 years buddy. But perhaps that is too difficult for you to comprehend. HOWEVER We are arguing semantics really. As stated previously, love his endeavour, physicality, and heart. And by all accounts a ripping bloke. Just a ripping bloke who is a battler and will only ever be that at AFL level. I don't mean or wish him any ill will or those that know him. But he has had 5 years on the list (and 4 fit given the reco) and is still just a very average tap ruckmen that doesn't even dominate that at either VFL or AFL level. If only Cook was/is given as much time as Spencer is given.....
  2. Wrong Robbie. No mistake on my part this time. Check it out here to get your facts right... Spencer drafted as a rookie end of 07 season. Means he was doing pre-season. Deuce!
  3. HA HA Ha Ha. Clearly one too many victory beers and just the assumption that you two were the same person. Sorry Robbie. I apologise completely for mixing you up with Old Dee...Is that an insult? Whoops!
  4. Spencer's had 5 seasons. More than a couple................
  5. Good luck. Great effort being there...
  6. I'm not attacking you Robbie and clearly you have a tie in with him/his family which may make your opinion biased, but even you said he is likely to be nothing more than depth. And low depth at that. Jamar, Martin and Gawn are/were all clearly ahead of him pre-injury. Fitzpatrick has a couple of strings to his bow given he can play multiple positions which is a MUST for the current day players. I just don't see a Melbourne side that is a serious finals contender that contains Spencer. Oh, and he's played 5 games this year so has built up a reasonable amount of match fitness. Smith is off early with injury and we still LOSE the hitouts. Just some simple facts.
  7. That's just wrong Robbie. The club saw plenty of value in him. But a bloke named Jeff White was the number 1 (oh what a hack) and Jolly wasn't getting the opportunity that could be afforded him elsewhere. He wanted that opportunity. Don't blame him. Don't blame the club. Jolly then left Sydney for Collingwood. Mumford left Geelong for Sydney. Jacobs left Carlton for Adelaide. Hale left North for Hawthorn. Maric left Adelaide for Richmond. It happens with ruckmen.....
  8. I am quite clearly on record as saying that he is not up to it. He played a good first quarter today but before anyone gets carried away, he then faded out of the game badly and we got beaten in the hitouts even after Smith was off injured. I love his endeavour. I just don't see him as anything more than a battler and number 4 ruckman on the list. Perhaps 5 if Fitzpatrick keeps improving.
  9. Caddy can play. Don't worry about that. He is not the 30 plus possession accumulator that others are, but he is hard as nails and is a goalkicker. No selling of the soul for him but certainly worth a shot if we can get at him. For those interested, i can tell you that he is still unsure on what he wants to do with his future. For all the benefits of living on the gold coast, all his mates are here, he likes the idea of playing AFL back in Melbourne for a Melbourne team, close to family and friends and is leaning that way. The question is which team. I believe Essendon is still his preference however Melbourne are well and truly in the market. Source won't be revealed however this is the accurate position of where things are at with him.
  10. You [censored]. Clearly no understanding of what he has been through this year. He couldn't hit the waits for the wrist injury, he then does an ankle in a practice game and loses the fitness that was being pounded into him, he then breaks his jaw and cannot undertake a weight or running program. So lets recap, first year being drafted- all kids on very limited pre-seasons. Second year gets a bigger pre-season and plays some reasonably good games before injury cuts him down again. Third year has an extremely interupted pre-season and first half of actual season. The kid has a good amount of talent. Has shown a very good work ethic to come back from two serious injuries this year and fight his way into the team. He is rusty in his first game back and you lambast him. I repeat. You [censored].
  11. Not only another very good game today but just want to send out a personal appreciation. Post siren when it came to giving out the footy's Jonesy spied my little boy with the number two on his back and made a beeline. Giving him the ball, a ruffle of the hair and some words of encouragement. A truly great moment in his short MFC life and the smile on his face was/is priceless. Thanks Jonesy. Ripping bloke and heart and soul player...
  12. Sad to hear another Demon gone for the year and this time it is Bennell. Ruptured ACL according to Neeld. Regardless of form or position in the team it is a shocking injury and I wish Jamie all the best in his recovery.
  13. Well deserved. Congrats.
  14. Just give us quality mids.....Viney, Toumpas and maybe Stringer/Garlett/Kennedy at 13 or in the ideal world: Wines, Toumpas, Stringer/Garlett/Kennedy and then Viney at 24.
  15. Thanks guys. Donation made via Paypal.
  16. Nice post. Agree wholeheartedly. Use the two top 5 picks ourselves. If a suitable trade comes about for the mid first rounder then so be it but not for picks 3 and 4.
  17. Here's the goals and best players as per the VFL website: Casey Scorpions Goal Kickers: B. Green 6, T. Couch 4, T. Smith 2, N. Page 2, J. Fitzpatrick , A. Davey , L. Williams , N. Jetta Best Players: J. Fitzpatrick, B. Green, T. Couch, C. Morton, L. Tynan
  18. Thanks Fence and KC for the updates.
  19. According to MFC twitter, Gysberts has 19 to 3/4 time with Green and couch on 18 and Davey 17.
  20. He's regularly kicked goals (even last week with limited supply and the team getting smashed). He has also featured in the best players a few times already this year. He's coming off the back of a limited pre-season and has certainly done more than Spencer in the VFL. A solid performance today against good opposition should see him coming close to AFL selection.
  21. Anyone going out there today? Really want Gysberts, Cook, Morts and Petterd to show something against a quality team today.
  22. After not believing the garbage reason given by Richmond for the sacking and suspension I did some digging with some Richmond contacts. Turns out this is not the first time in the last couple of months that Martin and Connors have been on the [censored]. They were smashed a few weeks ago and got in big strife from the club over it, this was a repeat offense and the reason for the suspension of Martin and sacking of Connors. Management of Martins social life is an ongoing problem for Richmond.
  23. Certain this one is a pi$s take....
  24. How many Pick 12's do we have to bargain with Boak Stevens West.... I like your thinking. I'm yet to decide if I agree or disagree. But at least it is a well thought out OP with supporting argument on the trading scenarios.
