  1. Assuming 16th finish. Pick 3- for 16th place Pick 4- Scully compo immediately after our first round pick (not used for father/son selections) Then it depends on the finishing positions of Adelaide and the Bulldogs as to where our second Scully compo pick being the "mid first round pick" is positioned but it is likely to be somewhere around Pick 12. Our next pick after this will be our second round pick. Again the number is dependent on the finishing positions of other teams and their use of end of round one compensation picks. It is likely to be somewhere around Pick 23-26. Hope this clarifies it somewhat Belze....
  2. Says me. But don't let me stop the poo spewing forth from your keyboard...
  3. Love the optimism guys. I'll take realism but good on ya for posting something positive which is a change round here...
  4. Wow. RR going way overboard again. So he was a star in the making the last two years but now he is not RR? He is another poor choice? Spare me RR. He is playing hurt- many AFL players do it every week. I'll bet you the injury is one that won't get any worse by playing but that won't be able to be rectified till the end of the year so they are persisting. There's nothing like a bit of good old fashioned RR sensationalism. And disagree with RR at your peril folks, cause he is always right- in his eyes!
  5. ....and another loss tonight. Eat it Bombers!
  6. Cook 7 goals and in the best twice in two weeks is great. I reckon at least one or two more solid VFL performances before he gets a call up. Especially given that Martin again played well and will be the first big man in line to come back in. Likewise i also believe that off the back of this performance, it may be Couch's time for a call up- just a hunch anyway...
  7. Franklin Pendlebury Glass Strength all over the ground....
  8. I don't know it as fact. I am summising. Likewise you are. No-one except those on the inside know the facts. We are both on the same page though and agree the money could be better spent elsewhere and that is why i put forth the rest of my post on trading for role players or players we believe we can develop further rather than an absolute star mid (which as you would/should admit Belz, their is likely to be very few available if any)........
  9. There's no top echelon quality that is available / willing to move. Like i said in a previous post, i believe the target is/should be midfield "role players", or players Neeld will back himself in too develop. Kennedy was never a star before he went to Sydney. Scotland was recruited to Carlton to be a role player and developed really well. If there is no Judd type deal that can be made then this is the method that you build the team through quality trades.
  10. Fantastic. Was an absolutely required player and great to have the deal done. Would assume his deal would also likely be heavily back ended so that when he is eligible for veterans status only half of his salary has to be in the cap. Beamer will sign also. It has been a happy few days for us for once this season!!!
  11. Another reason why throwing the kitchen sink at Cloke is the wrong plan given we already have Clarke. But i digress from another thread... Stynes Tingay Viney
  12. Obviously Frawley will come in. I reckon if Blease is fit that might be the only change and you find Bail is first emergency. I'm taking my best mate into the MCC as a guest for the first time. Unfortunately he is a Filth supporter. He'd be a great bloke otherwise. Might let him loose in the Frank Grey or Sir Berny bars as we watch an historic upset- the Demons costing two teams in two weeks the top spot on the ladder. Then i saw the Pies ins and suddenly me not so confident. But like when Mark Thompson went to Essendon last year and they dismantled Geelong when no-one thought they would, i too am hoping Neeld will be able to dismantle the Pies and we see another rip snorting game of footy!
  13. Thanks Old. And the round 2 pick (assuming of course it hasn't been traded) will be somewhere mid-low 20's. Whether we are forced to take Viney at 3 or get to grab him at 20 something, that is still a healthy bounty of top end picks. (And of course hoping that Viney is at 20 odd). But my biggest hope, is that this year is the last time for a VERY long time that we are looking at high draft picks and the number of early first round selections we have MID SEASON...............
  14. Unfortunately i don't think we will finish any higher than 16th, 15th at a stretch. There are no guarantees, and wins over GWS x2 and GC x1 will still only put us on par with where Brisbane sit currently. Plus our percentage is woeful too. If you look realistically at the ladder as it is and going forward, 15th is about as high as we will climb.
  15. Depends a little on others who use compo picks but the first round would be picks 3, 4 and 12. Next pick would be 20 something...
  16. Well i misunderstood your post and apologise then Chook. I still believe that there has been some ridiculous criticism of Moloney (not a go at you, just in general). Jones is awesome. Hopefully Beamer recaptures his form and silences a few of these critics.
  17. Well done Chook. You are the case in point. Where did I make that comparison?
  18. They lost in 2011 didnt they? I'm not saying he isn't worth it or that they aren't gold. I am saying that midfields are more important. Cloke and Dawes, Mooney and Hawkins, Reiwoldt and Kozi, fantastic but let's see em kick a winning score and make defenders nervous when the ball is in there only 40 times a game, and delivered poorly on many of those occasions too. They were all supported by awesome midfields. Even buddy and roughy were/are although buddy is an absolute freak and is one of the very few who could do it with a lesser midfield. I'm not saying gorillas aren't valuable, but midfields are more so and we still need far more development there than anywhere else.
  19. Gorilla forwards. Or forwards that are any good. Geelong had two very average forwards in 2007 (Mooney and Ablett). In 2009 they had Mooney and Hawkins. Again they were hardly superstar players then either. And Hawkins played half a game in 2011. West Coast had Lynch but he was hardly a superstar. Collingwood lost with Cloke and Dawes. St Kilda lost with Reiwoldt and Koschitzke. Port Adelaide kept getting done with Tredrea. The pertinent question is actually whether you can name any team of the last 15 years that won a flag with anything less than an outstanding midfield unit in the premiership year. The simple answer is that you cannot. For the time being, Mitch Clark fulfils one of the big key forward roles. We can continue to develop Cook, McDonald, Sheahan, Fitzpatrick, Gawn, Spencer etc whilst we build midfield strenght. If they start seeing the ball 70 times a game like the Geelong, Collingwood teams of recent times, watch how good our forwards will look then!
  20. Good to see this topic has decended into some quality discussion also. Thought this was about Watts and Hurley. Didn't realise it was also about gridiron, basketball, poster insults and some fragile keyboard warriors. Whether it is Watts v Hurley or Nic Nat or Tyrone Vickery or Tom Lynch. The point stands that we are all (or at least 90%) very happy with getting young Jack and hope that he continues the improvement and develop into the weapon we are all hoping for.
  21. For all those who continue potting Moloney and calling for us to trade him, i'll bet my left nut most of you were also in the Jones is a hack / dead wood / trade bait camp pre-season. I shake my head at some of the stupidity spewed forth on here sometimes. The bloke is the reigning B&F winner. He is one of the few blokes over 26 that we have that is any good (albeit in a current form slump). He has 140 games of experience. He has a love of the club. If many of you had your way, we would trade out everyone over 24 and field a team of 18 year olds. Jamar and Moloney are absolutely required players. They offer far more than purely the onfield stuff. At some point in time some of you will realise this. But let's not let logic get in the way of the opinions of a few of the Demonland experts. Continue with the stupidity (sorry for my interruption).
  22. At first i think not. Then i give it more consideration and think maybe. Would Neeld and Co back themselves in to make him better. Will he fill a need. Will he make us better? is he a realistic target? All questions that need to be considered. I'm in the maybe camp.
  23. It's no use having someone like Cloke if the ball only gets inside 50 forty times a game. When the opposition are pumping it in 70 times we will be done far more often than not. Our biggest problems are further up the field. You can win finals and grand finals with a team full of gun midfielders. You cannot win without. The most recent example is Geelong who won 3 with two very average key forwards. Collingwood, Hawthorn, West Coast, Sydney, Port, Brisbane etc. All had gun midfielders that carried them to flags. Some had gun forwards too. But none had a weak midfield. If we are going to spend big on a trade. It needs to be for midfield purposes. The only trouble with this is there is very few "gun" midfielders available. And our current plight won't be helping with the attraction. So it might be a case of trading or recruiting via free agency for some "good-very good" needs players (like a HBF / HFF or two with elite kicking) and developing the midfield players we have further (a la Jones, Moloney, Sylvia, Morton, Couch, Gysberts, Blease, Grimes, Viney, Jones, Taggert, Tynan et al). As has been said- this draft will also be crucial. Whether it is three first rounders before Viney, or Viney and a couple more- we do need more midfielders, goal kicking ones at that.
  24. He goes on to say in further tweets that it is just a rumour that he hopes isn't true. I have a connection close to the North heirachy that is not aligned to Brayshaw. Basically said Brayshaw was talking out his rectum today but never mentioned anything re insolvency. They may be in a real battle at the moment but i highly doubt insolvency. ......boooyah! Champagne stuff WJ
