  1. Roos has been pretty awful on 360 all year. His gaff re the supporters, his continual reference to the past, his inability to adequately answer Mike Sheehan and the way Bucks has shown him up on numerous occasions suggests to me he should give 360 up next year.
  2. I'm with you but sadly we don't get a say.
  3. You're right. I used my eyes when I watched him play and decided he wasn't much good. You should try it.
  4. I was there last night and would encourage everyone to watch the speeches of Daisy Pearce and Peter Jackson when they go up on the website. They were both fantastic and the clear standouts on the night.
  5. You were right. MFC B&F voting was much more generous than Demonland. He got 112 votes and finished 16th. Demonland had him about middle 20's. DL got it pretty much right. Underrated Howe and Garland but the first 5 were spot on. Last night much was made of having a team of competitive footballers. If Roos is true to his word Harry has a bit of work to do.
  6. Supporting someone by comparing them favourably to someone you don't rate at all doesn't help your case. Get off Bail Dazzle. He's achieved more than you ever will on a footy field, nearly lost his career early due to continually putting his head over the ball for the club you love (although you obviously have issues with some of the players) and lived through the dysfunctional years under Connolly, Schwab and Neeld. By AFL standards he falls short but he gave everything he could and deserves our support, not your continual snide remarks to deride him at every opportunity. For a passionate supporter you really are a dunce at times.
  7. 'I had no hesitation at all in the first two years of ensuring this club was well placed for draft picks,'' Bailey said. ''I think what we've done is the right thing by the club, and if it cost me my job, so be it. But the club is always bigger than the individual. 8. On balance I think Roos has been really good for the club but like everything there is good and bad. Those wanting to make a case against can do it based around some poor periods on game day and some rather questionable comments about the past and supporters. They can rightly query his commitment given he was only ever a two to three year coach. The case for is that we have obviously improved. We now look like a footy club, much of the damage of the past FD has been fixed and Roos would have been one of the very few people with enough credits to rectify the carnage perpetrated by previous FD's and administrations. I'm not sure anyone could have done better. If we'd taken a rookie coach and performed at this level there would have been serious questions over his future and if we'd taken someone experienced but less successful we'd be seriously questioned now. Many question Roos' salary. I reckon he's probably paid for it through additional memberships and sponsorships. I think he's been invaluable in making the place attractive to players like Vince (a huge win), Tyson and Lumumba (disappointing) and perhaps his greatest achievement is providing an environment where our young players have been prepared to commit. Many have rightly questioned the succession plan. I think it's been very successful. If Roos' tenure had been open ended imagine the conjecture now or worse still if he decided he didn't want to do it anymore. Roos at least stopped us heading quickly to oblivion. We've now got a stable platform from which to improve. I'm glad he came, I wish we'd improved quicker. Jackson is a very smart strategist. I think he's thought this through very well and got the right person initially. Let's hope Goodwin is a win as well.
  9. Bundled with a draft pick (1st or 2nd) you might pick up something quite good. That's where Jack's value will be in a trade I think, not as a straight pick.
  10. If he's overtaken Grimes who had 24 possessions, 4 tackles and 1 goal then he must be about three laps of the Flemington racecourse in front of Lumumba who managed 27 possessions in his last three completed games and a single possession in the first quarter against Carlton. It's disappointing Dazzle that in the act of praising a terrific first up game from White you couldn't resist a sling at Grimes who, just for the record, was much better than White yesterday. For someone who is so quick to jump on others you certainly put the boots in where you can. I suspect you'll be dancing in the streets when Bail is delisted in the next few weeks. Happy days eh?
  11. You heard right.
  12. Viney Salem Vince Jones Gawn T Mac
  13. There are lots of things that frustrate me. One is Sunday. I'm not sure we're playing our best team. Of course it's moot. I'm sick of losing and I'm sick of complaining and I'm sick of excuses.
  14. Let it go Red. Nobody cares anymore other than a few Demon supporters I reckon.
  15. Picket will be happy.
  16. I struggle with the list management side of things. Delist (I don't want these bloke on the list): Bail, McKenzie, Terlich, Riley, Michie, Jamar, M Jones, Newton (can't run, no heart), Lumumba (can't get it, can't use it) Tradeable: Watts, Toump, Grimes, Howe, Spencer, Fitzy, Dawes, Kennedy Harris Undecided: Hunt, Pedersen Promote: King, AVB, Harmes (one year contract but could easily be delisted - can't kick and no tank) Retained Rookies: White That view is ignoring contracts and it's a moving feast because one decision impacts another but IMO there are multiple spaces on the list. I also know some aren't going to be moved on but I'd have Cross ahead of any of the delist group and undecided group. Honestly if MFC are relying on any in the delist group we're not going anywhere. I'd happily pay a large part of Lumumba's salary to go elsewhere. If Cross was happy to play at Casey for the season (in a worst case scenario for him) I'd have kept him. Oh, and what an interesting use of the word "retired". He was sacked/delisted.
  17. I can't and I'd be appreciative if you could explain it to me. He clearly wanted to play on, he would have been told it was possible he'd play the end of his career at Casey and it's just a convenient excuse to say "we want him to finish on top". That's his decision. Leadership, experience, courage, professionalism and most of all he's clearly in our best 22 at present. If he isn't (in the best 22) next year he'd play at Casey and we've kept him for our last pick in the ND. Surely it can't be for LM issues. I count at least 8 players I don't want on the list and another 6 or 7 I'd trade for a reasonable offer. Makes no sense to me but that's not uncommon. I think it's a poor decision.
  18. That's very cruel Hood, lets hope he's run off his feet in a few years time!
  19. I'm waiting for the sequel "Roos v Denis Jones - the Facts" It will make another riveting read.
  20. Well that's certainly killed that discussion!
  21. Just for completeness, can you tell me what the following do? (and apologies, I didn't stop reading) Football Department - Paul Roos - Senior Coach - Todd Viney - Manager Player Personnel - Josh Mahoney - Manager Football Operations - Simon Goodwin - Senior Assistant Coach - Ben Mathews - Midfield Coach - Jade Rawlings - Backline Coach - Daniel McPherson - Forward line Coach - Brendan McCartney - Devlopment and Strategy Coach - Brett Allison - Head of Development - Brad Miller - Development Coach - Shannon Byrnes - Welfare and Development Coach - Justin Plapp - Casey Scorpions Coach - Jason Taylor - National Recruting Manager - Kelly O’Donnell - Pro scouting - Tim Lamb - National Recruiting Officer - David Misson - Elite Performance Manager - Robert Jackson - Strength & Conditioning Manager - Charles Allen - Load Manager - Alex Sakadjian - Sport Science Co-ordinator & Rehabilitation Coach Now if you're talking about the Westminster system of "ultimate responsibility" then it's not Roos but probably McLardy/Bartlett. If you think the coach knows more about draftees than the recruiting manager you live in an alternate universe. It's a team effort Miracle. Your premise is wrong but you've nailed it with your conclusion. Roos is a better coach than Neeld and we are in a better spot than we were 2 years ago. Congrats. The question of course is "are we where we should be"? If you can show me the "facts" about that I'd appreciate it.
  22. I think Goodwin's comments last week about Roos coaching when he first came to MFC were insightful. I made the comment when Roos was appointed that I hoped the game hadn't passed him by. For a coach who's signature characteristic is defence our lack of around the ground pressure is baffling. I think Roos has been good for our club in many ways but it's hard to argue we've been acceptable on field. Roos said that he hoped after 6 games MFC fans would see what we are trying to do on field. I can't. Can someone explain it to me. (this is a serious question, not a dig.)
  23. You've been his biggest fan and have come up with some good stats. I've not been a fan but decided to watch him closely yesterday. His first half was good but he fell away alarmingly in the second and just couldn't keep up with the pace of the game. 15 disposals to half time and 21 for the match. He's often been sub and I seem to recall you saying his game time is low but showing his possessions per minute high. When he's played full games what game time percentage has he played and how does that compare with other mids? I wonder if his major problem is lack of a tank. Have you got any details on his third and forth quarter performances? The club of course will know this but with interchanges mooted to come down this could be a serious issue. I'm still of the view that if he is in our best 22 then we are not where we want to be. But he was good in the first half yesterday before being unsighted in the second.
