Scott: 2021 Cats/Dees Prelim Should've Been Postponed
monoccular replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
“…..Until Selwood captains Geelong to a flag, I don't want to hear people talking about him like he is General Douglas MacArthur. ” Maybe a better General for comparison would have been George Custer? 😮 -
Link Round Up: 2021 Premiership - Videos, Articles etc.

I had forgotten just how agile and strong Tom was especially in the first ¾ of the season …. many opportunist goals from strong bustling and breaking clear. -
Scott: 2021 Cats/Dees Prelim Should've Been Postponed

Honestly who is their right mind actually knows what 😮 wanted. Postponement for a week? A month? And if he was so concerned did he contact the AFL and demand that this be done? Contact WA Health expressing concern re some unknown infection afflicting the players to whom he had a duty of care, as well as a duty of care to the opponents and the whole AFL competition, let alone the WA community? Pretty clearly just making excuses for poor list management, poor preparation and poor team selection. -
Why Luke Dunstan came to Melbourne
monoccular replied to george_on_the_outer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe Luke Wanted to play for a coach who was prepared to defy Gil, and have an occasional beer with his players. -
I certainly hope that Stuart Dew didn’t use the “f” word in earshot of the club doctor, or have a beer with any of his players, as this would be a massive scandal and probably force the impartial Gil to close the club down.

Maybe Basil was overseeing it?

Scott: 2021 Cats/Dees Prelim Should've Been Postponed

Maybe the notorious (but now distant history) 186 game should have been postponed - were there not quite a few of our guys ailing from an old fashioned flu or gastro on the day? -
Next Scott will be complaining that Selwood doesn't like playing on JV either
-
Totally unknowable, but would he have responded and bought in to the (tumultuous according to Herald Sun 🤮) 2020 post season player and coaching panel driven, epiphany which set up 2021 and hopefully the next 5+ years?
-
Yes and no ... probably starting to work on continuity with attack from the backline. But that said a one sided game (unless it is the 2021 PF or GF 😃) may not be the best "learnings".

Great observation - will await Gillon's pronouncement from on high (15 hands aloft his polo pony) of just how unacceptable this behaviour was ... of course not nearly as bad as a coach having a beer with his players. -
POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs

I have lived through 8, remember most of 7 …… keen to get to 10 …. oh heck, 12 -
Heard a rumor that RMGC waiting list fees are $20,000 + And the RMGC greens (or at least maybe 6-9) of them are said to be in dire straits, having been “fertilized” with RoundUp.

That is seriously scary, for the opposition 😮 -
Good comment - way back even in our relatively successful times in the 1990s and early 2000s, I used to get so frustrated when a player made a great move or play, then left it at that. Little shepherding, second efforts (Kozzie v North early 2021 was such a great example, and Ed Langdon's GF goal, Kozzies under recognised block freeing Track for "that goal" in the GF), or "dummy leads" knowing they would not get the ball but instead drawing their opponents leaving space for others. We saw far more of these selfless acts in 2021 and long may they continue. ❤️💙

As I recall our own Austin Wonammeri was in a similar situation and never came back near his dynamic best. Good luck Tippa …… hope you can get back to your best (except v MFC of course).

After the really tragic events (a word often overstated) leading up to and including his pelvic fracture, it is truly amazing that Majak is in a position to play footy at any level, let alone to be even in contention for a back up position in an elite AFL Premiership team. This is a fantastic endorsement of his own resilience and of OUR club’s now elite culture and support. Go Majak ….. I hope that you can continue to make a contribution to our ongoing success. Your presence as a back up last season, putting pressure on those ahead of you while providing a fall back option, even without playing a senior game, should not be underestimated. The flag was a genuine full club success story.

Another sad passing from our history, but at least he lived to see us break the drought. Laurie was always hard at the ball and gave no quarter. If I recall correctly it was the 1961 2nd Semi Final where he was dropped behind the play, in what may have been a game changing incident - it was said to be by a Hawk (alleged by some who claim to have seen it happen, one who went on to become a prominent QC or even a judge though my memory may be failing so please don't quote me. Happy to be corrected). No video review in those days so he went on the play in their inaugural premiership.

A lot of water to flow under the bridge before round 1 - IMVHO Hunt is probably in the best 26 (or so) but no lock in for 22. -

MFCSS - Tom’s foot gone for the year 😮😱 -
Cheese, or chocolate? Maybe since Covid there is some obscure Victorian law mandating non sharing of the fondue pots, or at least no double dipping. A market opportunity awaits for multiple mini fondue pots for individual use.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
monoccular replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
I started feeling confident round 12 …. 3 goals down to Brisbane at half time, then a 9 goal to 3 second half. And I must say even at half time, for the first time I felt pretty confident that we could get back. One embarrassing record I don’t think has been mentioned is that we haven’t won 3 flags in a row since 1957 - we need to break that by 2023, then surpass it. 🙄❤️💙 -

Please don’t tell me that since the GF wasn’t at the G or even in our time zone that maybe we didn’t win at all - a total Chanel 7 fabrication (like the so called moon landing)🤭 -

I am sure it is not relevant in any way, but since you bring it up the QLD Health Minister is / was Ms Death (or D’Ath).
