I think the frustration with Goodwin is about being beaten the same way for his entire tenure. Put one extra back, play fast, and run it out of the backline. How many times have we won i50 and lost the game? That would be a very interesting stat. But nothing has changed. We had a good enough list to win a flag, until the game changed. As said earlier, we're all tooled up to fight the last war.

Where were the on-field leaders getting in his ear? Trac, Lever, Max, Viney?? That was the most disappointing aspect for me. The Pies win this game (nearly) every time because they have (had) a rolled gold system for dealing with the last couple of minutes and leaders (like Pendlebury and Sidebottom) who get to the young/new kids and coach them on the field. And why didn't any journalists ask Goodwin about this?

We won a flag on the back of Peter Jackson and Paul Roos - they turned us into a destination club. Enough smarts in the coaching box (Yze) to help Goodwin get over the line, and the best fitness/high performance bloke in the land (?world) in Burgess. We now have amateur hour at the top (mistaking corporate speak for leadership), coaching stagnation, and serious concerns about fitness/high performance. Turn back the clock. How did we let it fall so fast, so quickly?
