I’ve thought that the flag was won on the back of the momentum created by The Sainted One (P Jackson) and Roos. When those two went, things fell apart over time.

May on the field, the irreplaceable Peter Jackson off the field. But brought that rarely seen attribute at the Dees : absolute overt ruthlessness. Can’t be overestimated.

I never thought I’d say this but TMac is now much more reliable by foot. A mixture of not buying of more than he can chew, and improved skill. Early in his career he was…um… a worry!

This has real echoes of the McLardy/Schwab era - so soon after the Jackson/Roos era. That era was just a blip of excellence in a long history of putrid OFF field performances. And the results on-field followed, as they nearly always do.

Um… whoever thought we were contending next year might have to rethink. Buckley might be looking at this and wondering if it’s salvageable…

This whole thing has resonances of the pre-PJ club. The difference is chalk and cheese. I just hope we don't descend into that sort of quagmire. Yep, MFCSS in full flight - but nurtured by years of experience!

I hope it's crystal clear how lucky we were to get P Jackson. I'm worried that our off-field team is not near that class, and won't be able to give the new coach what PJ + Roos gave Goodwin.
