Good call, but my heart sank for this year when Petty went down. He was the solution, Melky only made it worse. Not our year, but as shown Thursday, the Dees don't get blown away anymore and the forward set-up needs full overhaul for next season. Still in the window, and we have the Pies measure. They'll be runners up this year after seeing the Lions performance last night.

Iv'e forgotten why Woey lost his spot. Did somene come back in. I thought he performed well for one so young and deserves a shot at finals experience. Not in the midfield . JJ to replace Gus, but small forward type role perhaps. Thoughts

It wasn't touched and the call cost us 2nd spot

A good summary and our flag standard defence will be intact. Lions will be tested by us if we get there

Brisbane pf will be twilight to allow hopefully Dee's to fly home that evening before airport curfew.
  6. Doesn't matter. Football action has no standing in the rules. All acts in a game can be deemed football acts. Some just won't meet standards of play and scoring by mro. Careless. High severe impact is all that will be argued by afl. 4 weeks. Maybe 3

I don't like him as a sub. He can stay in or not. We won't win because of him.

Correct. Whately just stated its a Friday night game. As it should be.

Tmac out for me. Sub is the last position he could play. Would offer very little in the final heat of the game.
  10. Excellent summary Daisy and needs to be understood as to why the footy action comment means nothing. Whately said almost imeediately that once Maynard leaves the ground he's careless having lost control of the outcome. . The rest of the argument is just white noise as the subsequent evidnece of Gus stretchedred off etc nails down the penalty.
  11. He's an excellent communicator as shown on his weekly stint with Whateley and treats the public calling in with great respect. Excellent suggestion Macca.
  12. I fear this issue. You wait and watch that card being played by the cave dwellers out there on social media. Absolutely irrelevant but this is Australia (Gillard, Higgins, Tame etc. say hello)
  13. You've nailed a key 'non-Gus' issue for the game at large and I think this weeks commentary will move onto your thoughts. This accident was careless at best and thus must be punished. If not, the AFL is signalling to industry a weakening of their legal defence to the broader claims right in the middle of those claims entering court. Peter Jess and others will have a field day in this regard. That Maynard should be punished is a side issue in the broader context of the AFL mounting a defence, or even mitgating their payout strategy. The media (Cornes and Co) and boys club (Dangerfield and Co.) are niave in the extreme in their commentary. I'm sure the AFL would wish they could just tone them down a bit. Intentional or footy act are irreleavnt in the legal issue IMO. As an aside, if the Dees get up in the SF, it will be one our our greatest moments. I'll be there just to witness it.
  14. Gus is his mate. They played sandy dragons together. Langers too. He will be feeling for Gus But in 50 years of watching football I've never seen such a smother attempt. As Jack Elliot would say "Pigs a___se" it's a smother
  15. Is that true. ? If so great start. But was mro considering nothing to see here
  16. Not correct. Players are required to foreshadow the results of their action. Intention or not. Maynard did not do this. Just went for an outlandish attempt. He didn't mean to hurt Angus but the minute he chose to leave the ground as Goody referred to in presser he's responsible for outcome. 3 weeks will stand. Angus may not play again for some time.
  17. This is make or break for Laura re credibility. Normally I'd agree with grants view. Not this time. I hope the cowardly magpie army are in meltdown.
  18. Roo lucky. Can at least have a chance if we get past blues.
  19. Don't agree. The afl release notes new gm football Laura Kane weighed with mro and endorsed grading giving Maynard 3 weeks. Can't be downgraded due to severe impact. And she needs to see this done. I'm confident his 3 weeks stand. Or we burn down the house and forget any serious discussion on concussion. And fakes like dangerfield who has been disgraceful in this episodes commentary can sit quietly in the corner where he belongs.

    Nailed it.

We don't lose (so far) with May , Lever and Tommo together.
  22. Impressed by Goodwins post match comments. Cut no slack for maynard and told it like it is re: issues and intent. AND emphasised the impact on Angus personally.
  23. Pies are definitely beatable for sure after watching last night. Gaps in performance. Lions must now be clear favourites and have all the weapons, as we had till injuries got us.
  24. Agree, but thuggery, as in the old days, is not the issue anyway. Its all about intent. and Impact. Careless at best, severe. 3 weeks. He jumps in the air in a straight line to Angus. What did he think was going to happen next. Football act my a---e.
  25. I saw the only replay they showed on big screen. He's gone imo
