t m I wish people would stop using Port as an example. They had a way better playing group than us as a start. I know is handy to hang to on the Port example to make us all feel like there is a large chance of a big improvement in 2014 .However IMO we do not have the same quality base. As you say above I think the best we can hope for is a couple of more wins and be competitive in most others. It is going to take at minimum 2 years to be a competitive side capable of moving out of the bottom four.

Please don't use that line, I know the reality of the salary cap but it sticks in my gut that we are paying Tapscott and others more than 250k to satisfy our salary cap requirements. It is just monumentally wrong. Players union crap, how do they justify it?

Amen to all the above CBF Especially the last line, mired in early part of the twentieth century. I have been meaning to mention this for two weeks. When my membership renewal came a couple of weeks ago it showed a "members only" cap that was available. Low and behold the logo was the old simple MFC in "Red" and Blue. IMO the only one that should exist, the "new" one is way to complicated. I immediately ordered one as my old simple emblem cap in Red and Blue is getting a bit distressed. I have Disliked all the recent maroon and pink ones.

I tend to agree with you. Our efforts at choosing the wonder child have been a disaster so far. The other neglected subject is we need some improvement in 2014 even if it is only modest. The MFC cannot go on getting belted by 10 goals most weeks

That is true bb, IMO the system is crazy why do the Dees have to pay the same total amount of money as the top few sides. Clearly we have a large number of players who are below the standard of AFL. It beggars belief they have to be paid the same as the Premiers. IT is a bloody Players union rule. Crap I think.

I would love to see the player payments list at the MFC. I have spent the last few days watching successful clubs getting players or making bids for them. I look at Freo, Richmond, Sydney, GWS, North etc and wonder how much we are paying to a large number who are not AFL standard. If we are paying close to the cap then we are grossly over paying a large number.
