Darren Bennett's goal kicking
You are not missing anything. Was worst ground for an away supporter and even worse than Victoria Park.

Darren Bennett's goal kicking
Darren Bennett’s goal kicking was a wonder for most of his career but like all footballers he had his wobbles. Towards the end of his career with us his general field and goal kicking deteriorated markedly. Lost a lot of confidence due to persistent injuries. If he could have managed his fitness he would have become our all time best goal kicker I believe. He made the right choice going to the NFL where he would only be relying on his prodigious kicking talent with minimal game time and less punishment on his body.

COACHES VOTES: Rd 16 2023
To be fair no one notices GWS players unless playing against their side. The exception is when Toby Green creates another outrage.

Goal kicking accuracy 2023
disregarding total misses which are bad in itself we are the only side with more behinds than goals and by an incredible differential.

POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs GWS
I would like to see our players a little more an adventurous going forward like when approaching i50and taking longer shots at goal. Too many times plonking it 20 metres out with both Gawn and Brown flying for the same ball or hitting up players wide where accuracy is difficult. Opposition defenders know where to congregate. 73 i50’s and no bothered to have a decent long shot. Gotta encourage a little more dare towards goal and break the mold.

We don’t want Brisbane to close in our our percentage. Third spot is still up for grabs.

2023 Injury List
Hard to believe anything the club says about injuries these days.

Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
Whilst our scoring has now dried up our defence appears on paper performing far better compared to earlier in season. In contrast when we were scoring freely earlier in the season our defence was significantly looser compared to the past few seasons and now. One could say our game was more balanced earlier because we were more likely to outscore the opposition with faster riskier ball movement at the expense of conceding a few extra goals. Now to maintain a strong defence we strangle our forward line. Gawn, JVR or who ever are boxed in by defenders and unable to take marks. Small forwards have no room to move. A robbing Peter to pay Paul scenario. We really miss BBB and Tmac who could function in a slow forward ball movement environment.

Has Hardwick been seen checking out Perth realestate these days?

2023 Injury List
Oliver plays out game with hammy. Hibberd plays out game with kidney injury. Allowed to play on both miss games. They should have been subbed out at time of injury.

Sad to see Oliver so far down the list.

Jacko played a ripper of a game for us.

NON-MFC: Rd 15 2023
Though we have a strong percentage, most of our ladder position rivals still have games against WC. Cant take it for granted it gives us an edge over close rivals and we need to keep winning.

WC had had horrendous injuries but they rarely have had a go for the past two season. Surprising Adam Simpson isn’t under serious heat for his job yet. The club is a shambles.

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs Geelong
Having 50% more handballs than Geelong in wet conditions lost us the match. At the longest and narrowest ground in the AFL it should have been about gaining maximum territory at speed instead of passing the ball around in circles in tight slippery conditions. Most times we went forward we came across a well set defence and difficult to penetrate due to slow ball movement. Very poor tactical coaching to allow this to happen. Geelong at the start of last quarter went all in pushing the ball forward which gave them momentum from the centre. And yet again we lost the centre clearance battle badly. A couple of frees to us there made it look slightly better than it actually was.

PREGAME: Rd 15 vs Geelong
An infection that requires IV antibiotics and a relatively long hospital stay for these days would be quite severe and debilitating. He must have had a whopping fever, weight loss and risk of septicaemia and internal organ damage. His appears the type of infection that killed many healthy people in the days before advanced antibiotics. I believe the severity has been downplayed somewhat by the club.

The Hole in the Heart of the AFL
The reality is that now the AFL should be considered as a cultural sports entertainment industry. Creates revenue for media, tourism, employment, airlines, caterers, other ancillary services as well as a public distraction to genuine problems in society. Just another successful business and quasi political tool. The equivalent of Roman circuses hence run by qualified elites.
