  1. Hopefully some others take a bundle of marks as well, cos we're currently the 17th ranked marking team in the AFL. It's starting to become very obvious how much we get outmarked, and I think oppo teams are using their talls more astutely to exploit it.
  2. Totally agree Nasher. The eternal double-edged sword.
  3. Forgiven. Having lived pre-Internet, thus pre-forum and social networking, I don't think there's any doubt that having the anonymity it provides changes the nature of people's discourse. The worst variation is trolling and cyber-bullying, where people attack, belittle and spread hate just because they can do so with impunity, or so profiling tells us. Of course Demonland has none of that, but equally I have no doubt if posters on here were face to face rather than behind avatars in front of a keyboard, they would be more respectful. I used 'you' not 'us' probably because I post under my real name, and because the question asked I knew my own answer to.
  4. Of course you must be right. The question remains however. Care to answer it?
  5. What a disgraceful umpiring display.
  6. He's a confidence player big Maxy, and right now he ain't got none. Not sure Darwin is the place to find it either.
  7. Garbage. They have no chance against the speed and efficiency that it's coming back in. The problem is the poor defending from the middle and forward 50. No forward defensive pressure. Nil.
  8. Based on his recent contract extension, I would suggest nor is he.
  9. Agree with Danelska. No one can assume the adverse effect that negative, personal comments have on anybody else, and as such should respect the differences by exercising caution. The biggest issue for mine with online forums in general (and Demonland is by comparison excellent, well done mods) is the protection of anonymity. We all know that 'trolls' and cyber-bullies are a blight, but they only exist through anonymity. No accountability means no responsibility. As a matter of interest, how many of you responding to this topic (or any) would modify the nature of your posting if you were identified by your real names?
  10. There's a bit of that, which is why I think the Crows are ordinary, and Swans unbeatable.
  11. Hard to argue. I too reckon Oscar will be a gun forward in a few years, and has more native talent than Tom.
  12. Forgot about that mark!. Shows everything about Clarrie.....fearless, confident, and incredibly sure-handed. One grab, unsighted, back with the flight. He's a freak.
  13. Back in the day Nasher, I did actually predict Tom McDonald would be David Neitzesque in becoming more dominant as a forward. But I wouldn't know where to find it, so am happy to be considered a hindsight fantasist, self-congratulatory in the secure knowledge of what I really thought. Sounds convincing, huh?
  14. Is a forward and was always going to be .
  15. I hope I don't regret saying this, but TMac is the 'straightest' kick for goal I've seen in years. No curve, fade, or slice, he basically splits the middle off the boot almost (have to put that in to avoid the moz) every time. With Watts, easily the best kicks for goal at the club.
  16. He just continues to impress, couldn't have put down the idiotic questions about culture and the Oliver crowd 'nothing' any better, particularly as I would've told those reporters to go f*** themselves.
  17. Wow, that's just one-eyed wishful thinking. We're scraping home against Collingwood, Eagles and Blues, the Swans and St. Kilda are winning easily.
  18. And in a team that was horribly out-marked today and last week, we need those who can take a grab to stay in.
  19. Anyone know how to break down free kicks quarter by quarter? Also, who said Watts will be back next week? I suspect he'll be 3 to 4 from the pre-swans training session aggravation (a re-tear), so will miss the next 2 at least.
  20. Anyone know how to break down the free kick count into quarters. Did we get one in the last?
  21. Only Carlton's injuries will keep us in this game, otherwise it's sayonara. As we're discovering, it's all about the midfield. Fumbly and too panicky down back. Uncertain and no defensive urgency up forward. And as has been the case all year, oppo's play the width of the MCG much better. We're playing like we've got a lot to lose, which we do, and Carlton are doing the opposite. Yuck.
  22. As has been the key to our success this year, it's all about the midfield. We are 3 of our best starting 4 down. Spells trouble, I fear.
  23. Outstanding, praha. It's a transformed world for exactly those reasons you outline. Back in the 90's it was considered quite a professional challenge for us to manage the psychological issues surrounding a player's time out of the game due to something as simple as a 4 week hamstring. Now they have to deal with the expectations that come from bulging salaries, and the consistent scrutiny and criticism from both pro and social media. These twenty-something men, who we have no right to expect come with an inherent ability to deal with these things, are walking straight into a s**tstorm of psychological peril. We are seeing the tip of a huge iceberg I suspect.
  24. Funny old game, footy. And it's a funny old season. It took just this single game tonight to fully reverse our finals chances. More injuries to key players, and with only Hogan a potential in for next week, I'd be surprised if we're still in the 8 by the end of July. All that talk about us being a Premiership chance now seems so bizarrely premature. As has been said since the game came into being, a week is a long time in football!
  25. An act of mindless idiotic thuggery. 4 to 6 weeks at least, but I'd sit him out for the rest of the season. Not what we want this club to be.
