Well the football public is generally pretty stupid and my justification for saying that is a conversation I had the other day with an elderly gentleman down here in geelong the other day. When asked who I followed in the football I answered " I follow the oldest football club in australia, my football club wrote the rules of the game ", " Oh collingwood " he answered. My case rests.

Although you're right and there are people in the world ( like yourself ) that only ever think in terms of money, there are others that don't and value themselves somewhat higher than the dollar. You may not have met such people in your gordon gekko type of existence but that doesn't mean they don't exist. The corporate world will end up climbing up it's own anus and destroying itself. Funny you should mention child-like. All religions abuse children by brainwashing them from an early age. Which gives them little choice of critical reason until they're old enough and courageous enough to question the metaphysical fantasies they've been taught.

The point non religeous people are trying to make is that a couseler should be for everyone. I was in the military as well and would never go near a counseler that I knew got the job because he was religeous. A degree in theology certainly doesn't give you special insight into other peoples problems and conflicts, in fact it may add to them.

I hope so, I believe he would make the best captain our club has had in many years. As I said on SEN many years ago the captaincy actually improves some players games and our Brad is one of them.

If ever a code needed a cultural and heretige commission it is our very own ' australian ' rules football. We are in danger of not being identifiable from other sports especially of the yankee variety. There are people on this thread who wont be happy until we become a US state.

I agree, we have a real cultural cringe in this country. Why couldn't they think of something culturally Australian to call them. This whole thing has that peanut sheedy's fingerprints all over it.

I reckon collingwood should should have it's original jumper as a clash strip. You know the red, white and blue one they wore in the early 1890's when they were known as brittania. The story goes that they couldn't get into what was then the VFA in their original uniform because footscray which was already in that competition had that very same jumper.

I reckon the Demon cartoon on the front of todays sporting Age today is excellent. Having a Demon as a logo has always been a problem, unlike a magpie or a lion who knows what a metaphysical mascot looks like. Still a lot of people over the centuries have had a stab at it and interpretations have been many and varied. But todays Age one is an absolute beauty.

I agree completely. We are the MELBOURNE football club with supporters from all points of the compass. By the way how would the Ballarat Demons feel about traveling to Casey ? Or the Geedees for that matter. No the MCG is our home, sure have a link with the outer suburbs but lets not retreat out there.
