  1. My band is playing in the Sydney suburb of Engadine (south end of that godforsaken area known as "the Shire") which for me is a 45 minute drive. We start playing at 2pm but I have to get there earlier to make sure everything is ready to go. So, by the time we have played and I've managed to drive back to civilisation, the game will be over.
  2. Gee, some harsh critics on here... but yes, I would have gone for something a little more lyrically appropriate like "Jesus Built My Hot Rod".
  3. I know you have an immediate connection with the club, but is your comment based on that or is it just your own belief? I was wondering whether perhaps Frost had given Goodwin some indication that he was looking elsewhere, as that would make sense of the fact he was dropped to Casey for seemingly doing not too much wrong, and hasn't been able to even get a spot on the emergencies list since. I hope my gut feeling is wrong and that he remains at the club.
  4. I believe it was a severe case of tonsorialitis that did it.
  5. Unfortunately we can't afford a trip to Melbourne at the moment and my son goes in for a full knee reconstruction this Thursday (his arthroscopy of 2 years ago failed) which means travel is out of the question anyway ? I wouldn't write us off against the Swans quite so readily... yes they're the form team of the comp, but they are due for a loss. Having said that, mine was purely selfish motivation and yes, a final against Richmond at the 'G' would be fantastic... I think we would actually send them packing.
  6. I'm torn on this one...I want it to be in Sydney so my son and I can go along to watch the game.
  7. I don't agree entirely... I think a couple of those 50's were the result of over enthusiastic umpiring as our players were given no opportunity at all to get back to the mark. Hogan's should not have been a fifty and a 50 was not given to T Mac (I think it was) for an, unlike in Hogan's case, obvious knocking of the ball from his hands after it had been marked. Really, only 2 of the 50's we gave away were what I would call warranted.
  8. 6. Pederson 5. Hibberd 4.Jones 3. Hogan 2. Melksham 1. Trac
  9. I stated clearly why I thought we probably hadn't got a great return from him yet... injuries and illness cruelling his chances. You however called an act that you had not even seen, a "dog act" and then went on to say that "he is a liability with some talent" and then in your next sentence query what his trade value may be. As I had not used quotation marks, I was obviously not quoting you (and hence not misquoting), but rather I was making what I would have thought was a reasonable extrapolation on your critique.
  10. Everyone seems to be overlooking Essendon in the finals equation. They are not far behind us on percentage (104) and have two very winnable games in the Suns and Dockers. If we lose one game, they could squeeze ahead of us which is why percentage is very important for us in tomorrow's game.
  11. Absolute nonsense... no way he ran too far.
  12. Well there was actually... 50 metres to be exact, to get Adelaide within goal scoring range.
  13. I honestly cannot recall seeing a worse one sided display of umpiring.
  14. Yeah I know what you mean. For a forward that was brought into the team to score goals, surely he should be doing much better than the measley 56 he's scored to date.
  15. I beg to differ SWYL. The tone of your post was suggesting that he should be traded. It really wasn't hard to read between the lines given your "dog act" statement based on no actual actual vision of the incident having been seen by yourself.
  16. In his time at the club, Salem has played just 45 games in total and this year had been averaging a tad over 21 disposals per game, which is not so bad. He has been cruelled by injury and illness. Yes, he might not be elite (although as someone stated, his kicking is), but he is certainly a cut above numerous others on the list, and with a good run free of injury/illness and another preseason under the belt, he will start to show the class that got him drafted by the club. You had him traded earlier this week based purely on what a few people had overstated regarding his being reported on Saturday - if you had actually been at the game and had seen the incident first hand (there was no available footage at the time you made your comments), then your comments may have at least had some validity... but instead, your judgement on that occasion was indeed clouded..
  17. But, but, but... what about all of those saying it was a trading offence?? Surely they can't all have been guessing wrongly, having not attended the game.
  18. Have to disagree on that. The potential for major damage to the face from a straightening (let's call it just short of a kick) leg, studs out, should have meant Greene with his record, sitting out a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks. I may be wrong, but in soccer if a player tackles studs out, isn't it an instant red card, which I assume means a holiday for at least the following week?... why should it be any different in the AFL?
  19. NO!! The law of averages says that you have to get it right eventually, and I'd hate it to be this week. Sunday must be a percentage building game to ensure we can't drop out of the 8 if we lose against the Pies.
  20. So what? Not everybody could afford to go to every home game, others have family commitments on the weekends as it's the only time they have available, others come from country areas or interstate... there are so many valid reasons that people aren't able to be regular attendees. I and my son get to just a couple of games each year because a) We live in Sydney, and b) having no regular income (having been made redundant at the ripe old age of 63) makes it a financial stretch. I still pay mine and my son's memberships every year as do probably many of those you are deriding in your post. But it does beg the question... how do you even know that they aren't regulars?
  21. Rather surprised to see that no one has mentioned the fact that with this win we have surpassed our 10 wins last season. We have officially improved.
  22. Crows possibly, but GWS are still competing for a top 2 finish (and even the Crows can't afford to be complacent). With the bye the week before the finals, I doubt any team in the top 8 will want to rest too many for an extra week or two... they'll want them match fit and firing in the finals.
