  1. I recently joined the Flat Earth Friends group on Facebook, and I’ve never seen such a busy group in all my years of Facebook use! I’m positive that the vast majority are there to extract the urine, or for the laughs (I sure as hell am), of which there are plenty. You’ll encounter some of the best creative writing you’re likely to read, coupled with ideas and comments that are both pure genius and so astoundingly stupid at the same time, they’ll have you pulling your hair out by the roots… as Molly would say, “Do yourselves a favour…”. But be warned, if you join the page, it will overrun your feed like an out of control Lantana infestation… but still, I cannot recommend it highly enough regardless!!
  2. Yes, bad oversights on my part, but in my defence it was just a quick brain dump of what was in my mind at the time… before The Dingoes I’d probably also have to put Carson (aka Carson County Boogie Band). I’m a bit surprised (disappointed?) with myself for having overlooked the Oils and the Divinyls. I used to go and watch the Divinyls playing in a small Paddington pub (The Grand National) in the early 80’s before they recorded and became ‘famous’… great live band! Theres probably quite a few others that I failed to include such as Chain, The Triffids, The Go-Betweens, The Masters Apprentices and so on. It’s a good memory test 😁
  3. I’ll have a go at a list, but there’s no way I’ll get to anywhere near 100 as im too lazy and for that very reason, they will be in no particular order (won’t bother numbering them). Australasian bands: The Sports Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons Company Caine Spectrum/Indelible Murtceps La De Das Kevin Borich Express Tully Wendy Saddington Renee Geyer Split Enz The Living End Paul Kelly (all incarnations) Archie Roach Warrumpi Band Gurrumul The Loved Ones Easybeats Bee Gees The Purple Hearts Lobby Lloyd X The Boys Next Door The Birthday Party Nick Cave’s Bad Seeds Not Drowning Waving My Friend the Chocolate Cake Mackenzie Theory Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band Bands Outside of Australasia: Mothers of Invention Beatles Rolling Stones The Residents Snakefinger Pretty Things David Bowie Pink Floyd The Specials Elvis Costello (all incarnations) Wilco Billy Bragg Link Wray Tom Waits The Velvet Underground Talking Heads Lou Reed The Members The Clash The Jam Alberto Y Los Trios Paranoias The Bonzo Doo Dah Dog Band Viv Stanshall The Sensational Alex Harvey Band Van Morrison Roy Harper Kevin Coyne Tim Buckley Ry Cooder Ryuichi Sakamoto YMO (Yellow Magic Orchestra) The Blue Hearts Neko Case Genesis (but only with Peter Gabriel) XTC Be Bop Deluxe King Crimson Robert Fripp Fleetwood Mac (but only with Peter Green) Albert Lee Pop Will Eat Itself Hank Williams Robert Gordon Jeff Beck Johnny Burnette’s Rock and Roll Trio Jimi Hendrix Experience/Band of Gypsys Nick Lowe and on it goes…
  4. No Jo Jo Zep, Black Sorrows or The Sports?
  5. I thought it was definitely worth seeing through… the final season was probably the weakest, but it still rates as one of the best shows thanks to it consistently being above average. If you have Netflix and haven’t already been watching, Kim’s Convenience is a terrific series that’s been running for maybe 5 seasons, each of 10 episodes (I think it is).
  6. Yes, but there’s no relationship to Blackadder. 😁
  7. Having parents who had no interest in VFL until I won the autograph of a Saints player at a school training session and gave it to my mum who from then on became a staunch Saints supporter. We finally persuaded my father to take us to the Saints v Dees game in Round 12, 1966 at Moorabin Oval. From memory, it was wet, freezing cold, I was absolutely miserable and we were standing in probably the most exposed part of the ground and, to make matters worse, we had a scoreless last quarter in which they kicked 4.6 to end up winning by 43 points. i did not enjoy my first game at all.
  8. It’s what was reported.
  9. If you have Foxtel there’s now a second season of Julia, which I also highly recommend. It’s based around the TV cooking show host Julia Child. Really well written and cast, it’s a really enjoyable and entertaining show.
  10. I have finally got around to watching Lupin on Netflix, and now I’m kicking myself for leaving it so long! This is seriously one of the best shows I’ve had the pleasure of watching… ever!! Brilliantly acted with Omar Sy from the film Intouchables in the lead role, incredibly well scripted, it’s the TV equivalent to a page turner! I’ve watched this first two seasons in two days and will watch the third and most recent tomorrow and am already feeling sad that I’ll be up to date because that means I know I’ll have a long wait for the next season. If you haven’t already seen this, I urge you to do so now… you will NOT be disappointed!!
  11. Agree… in this case I’m guessing he’s talking about Jefferson.
  12. Old guy here - I like it. Different is good!
  13. My point is that the post you were responding to was about McAdam’s fitness issues and you simply provided a history directly from Adelaide’s web page, which has nothing to do with his fitness issues. Also, if you’re going to quote word for word what is on the site, why not provide a credit?
  14. All you’ve done is copy word for word what is on the Adelaide Crows web page. They’re not going to provide any information about the negative side of his development or his approach to training which is what Deebamboozle is pointing out.
  15. Yes, when we went and stayed at my friend’s place, we had just missed the opportunity to see Commander Cody, who performed there one week earlier. As for me, the chemotherapy is a pretty rough ride with some pretty nasty side effects. An infection I got in a salivary gland hit me so hard that they had to cancel my chemo cycle I was about to start, and then made me an inpatient for 4 days. All is now good and I start back on my sixth fortnightly cycle of chemo next Monday. Still in Sydney but music is not possible yet (one side effect being that it makes my voice very weak - I sound like the godfather being voiced by Elmer Fudd). I’m hoping they might give me an extended break from chemo early next year (lat Jan or early Feb), so I can take the band down to Melbourne for a couple of gigs and do other gigs on the way down and on the way back. Fingers crossed for that wish.
  16. A friend of mine who we’ve stayed with in Pawling, lives just a few minutes away from Darryl’s House. I asked if he was going to see Fripp, but unfortunately, being the online presentation of Darryl’s House, it was a closed session.
  17. I’m finding humour is the best form of combat.
  18. You’re absolutely correct, so please accept my apologies… but I will be having words with my oncologist about the drug regime she currently has me on! 🤣
  19. I thought so too until I did a bit of searching, and it seems How Do You Do… was a Freddie and the Dreamers number.
  20. Yes, I’m not sure that the term is entirely correct, but Zappa was a bit of an anachronism… in that he had very conservative views, but at the same time was light years ahead of his time while being a man of his time. Zappa had all of the traits that you’d expect of a genius.
  21. This got me to reading his history on Wikipedia, and it turned up a few interesting factoids, such as his first band Lowell George and the Factory, appeared on both F-Troop and Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. His time with Zappa was also interesting as were the circumstances leading to his exit from the Mothers… from, he was caught smoking dope, to, he wrote a song (Willin) about smoking dope, to, it was suggested by Zappa that he leave the Mothers and form his own band.
  22. I was thinking of it more from a lyrical aspect rather than musical format.
