Picked the wrong target for the 'I've dedicated more time and money' defence. Couldn't understand more the position of putting a lot of limited resources into the Club stance, but I'm not going to back away from it being weak to walk out at half-time. It's a hard time for all of us, you keep your head up and you stick it out.

Members Throwing Their Membership Scarfs in the Bin at MCG
Inner Demon replied to MrMoose's topic in Melbourne Demons
When we win a game in the next few weeks and things don't look quite as bleak as they do right now those same people will likely be lining up at the membership tents demanding replacement scarves. Fools. -
There wasn't even a stoppage at this play. What do you want?? The players to abandon the live ball in order to show Roughie they won't have him contesting marks like that??? Shocking example of the point you're trying to present.
-
HT that's the only time in this thread you have correctly identified the true examples of on-field leadership. I didn't see any of our players 'felled behind play' on Saturday but of course if that happened there'd be an element of sticking up for each other. In fact, I'm pretty sure I saw 2 or 3 mini-melees throughout the game where we engaged in some 'shows of strength'.

I think my point may have been missed. I don't disagree at all that Flash spending some time in a FP role would be good, I was more getting at the first need is there to be a marking forward down there for him (or anybody) to crumb from. In any event, a player like Aaron can be moved all over the ground on a given day. He should be spending time in FP, in the middle and across HB. Still don't agree that our 6'1" midfielder who had a bucketload of contested possessions on the weekend would be best served playing a crumbing forward role.
-
So you wanted to see our players 'remonstrate' with Roughead for contesting a pack mark 35m out from goal??? Sounds like the fastest way possible to give away a free kick and set the worst example possible.
-
Given during the majority of our game there's nobody at all playing in the forward 50 I'd say Aaron not being down there isn't the biggest of our problems. Just back on the original post, why in God's name would you want Trengove playing deep forward pocket????? He needs as much time in the middle as possible.
-
Where did this obsession with 'leadership through shoving' come from??? Is Champion Data keeping track of players' chest shoving stats now??? I'd probably prefer to see our players providing some run and creating space and options than have them focus on shoving people to show how tough they are. Given how quickly the ball comes flying into our defensive 50 I'd suggest Matty Warnock is quite rightly too busy keeping tabs on Jarryd Roughead to worry about whether Campbell Brown is niggling James Strauss.

Never, ever, ever leave a game before it's finished. Inexcusable, weakest thing a supporter can ever do. Hang your heads.

Humour me. What fixture are we losing??
-
Hold what fixture??? I don't think we're going to lose the right to play Rnd 1...

People forget all too easily how young this bloke is.

I guess I'm yet to catch on with this 'pack crashing' obsession around here. I'd rather our forwards led to space and took clean marks rather than the ball being thumped to a pack of players that requires someone to 'crash' and hope for a good bounce of the ball when it hits the ground. It's not the 80s-90s anymore.

We must've been watching different games.

Probably a more worthwhile discussion to have at 5pm on April 18.

He's only listed as 4-5 weeks so he wouldn't be on LTI. I also note that Cale is 6-8 so it may just be Jurrah, Tapscott & Gawn on LTI. Still, there's only two rookies worth promoting so it's all a moot point.
-
Connolls will tell anyone who'll listen that Jordie's a 200 game player. He singles him out quite specifically.
-
Just diverting back to the Warnock topic briefly. I'll reserve judgement until he's gone up against Mitch Clark next week. Ty Vickery is just a pup and unfortunately for Troy Simmonds it isn't 2004. Clark is the same age as Warnock and I will be surprised if he doesn't give him a clinic.
-
They were promoted in the same breath as being selected. We'd have Tapscott, Gawn, Jurrah & Morton all on LTI so there's plenty of spots for them to be elevated to.

Our training oval is directly adjacent to where our change rooms are. It's not down the road (which incidentally is what Collingwood have had for years) it might be all of 100m further away than Carlton or Bulldogs. Non-issue. This idea that we drive back and forth between the venues is another misconception. Our AAMI facilities have everything that you're wondering about. The meeting rooms, theatres, recovery, even an in-house physiotherapy practice, the lot. We will not be doing a skills session at Casey then jumping in the cars and heading to AAMI for weights or analysis. Casey, which will have complete gym & recovery facilities within a month or so, will be used in the pre-season while AAMI will be used in-season. The two venues will not be used on the same day. I'm not going to concede this ridiculous idea of the ability to hold 'impromptu sessions'. It's utter nonsense. Every day of the year is planned out in advance with exactly what the training schedule is on that day. There is no such thing as an impromptu session at any AFL football club, anywhere, anytime. Christ, I've never even heard of an impromptu session in amateur footy outside of an impromptu parma & beers session.

If we're going to discuss the circumstances at this exact moment in time, then yes, it is true that our situation is less than perfect, and the gym isn't yet built at Casey and the Olympic Park facility is also incomplete. What I take issue with are the assertions that we will be some kind of second-class citizen at AAMI Park where we won't have access to facilities and that you seem to be dismissing our move there as still not reaching the heights of the other clubs who you seem to believe will continue to have superior facilities to us once we move in. It's certain parts of your rant like sharing the facilities with Melbourne Vixens and that Carlton, Collingwood, Bulldogs have 'home grounds' with year-round access that really make me believe you're just carrying on for the sport of it. 1. In fact, it is Collingwood who share facilities with Melbourne Vixens. Not us. 2. We will have as much of a 'home ground' as any of the clubs you name. It's right there. Right next to our change rooms. None of the Melbourne based clubs train on their 'home ground'. MCG & Etihad are not training venues. 3. The idea that the club might make some kind of last minute decision to pop down for a train at AAMI only to find the Storm are already there is beyond laughable. These things are scheduled months in advance, it is an absolute non-issue that sharing the facilities with other Clubs in some way impinges on our ability to train. And for what it's worth, in just a couple of short months we will have the glorious entry hall complete with the pictures of past players, premiership cups, etc that you see as giving Carlton the spectacular edge that has led them to 3 wooden spoons in the last 5 years.

I also remember when I could get a bag of candy for tuppence and I could go to the pictures for a schilling. That Demetriou took it all away. The scallywag.

Melb has played Geel every year for over 150 years. Every single time it's been the original clubs facing off. We've played in Heritage Rounds and even with an MGS v Scotch curtain raiser to hammer home the original clubs point. But why should anyone care??? It's totally irrelevant. People don't get excited by the idea that people who died a century ago once played for these two clubs. Put yourself in the mind of an Essendon supporter for a moment. Why would you care in the slighest??

Shocking misrepresentation of our circumstances grounded in no informed knowledge of the true state of affairs. All, please disregard this baseless rubbish.
