We are going to be very well placed.
Sentiment is running against young players who nominate a club which has to work in our favour on the possible deals.
It seems that Adelaide has not given up on Polec and need our pick to pull it off. Port in a rearguard action are trying to snaffle the picks that might send him to Adelaide. Keep fighting lads.
GWS desperate for pick 2 (but maybe dont really want pick 1) and offering us unders until they can convince Shiel he doesn't get to pick and choose how he returns to Melbourne.
I think this has some way to go but I am getting confident we will see some good results over the next week but it may come down to the wire until the " but i want to go to Disneyland" tantrums subside.

I have suspected we don't want to be in he top picks and are keen on someone mid table this would confirm that. Not convinced by the two on offer who haven't managed to get a game consistently with GWS.
-
Dawes is terrific, absolutely no nonesense and determined to make the best of himself. Loved the line that he think he and Mitch will do some damage.
He must be a chance for leadership this year.
-
It will be slow week until we know what the compensation is. I dont expect a trade before then.

Funniest post for a while, still chuckling.

Dew was clearly the guy we wanted. I guess swans offered him similar deal to take over from longmuire and his partner didn't want to leave Sydney.

AFL trade site reports st Kildare after pick 1. Gws reluctant to trade. We could get involved in that mix somehow.

Either we think we can still get a top mid for pick 2 from somewhere and we are telling the club involved we will wait it out or we dont rate Aish that highly but think there are a few lower down worth a crack so we are looking for a pick in the 7 to 10 range plus a solid mid ready to go.
The good news there is no sense of panic about any of this we are not going to be rolled over by anyone. (the lack of GWS moves at this stage is very encouraging from our point of view).

I have a weird feeling someone will steal Michie under our nose..
That weird feeling is MFCSS.

Hence my trade or re-sign Frawley thread.
When a club puts up an unmatchable offer for Frawley next year all we get is an end of first round pick.
There's an article on melbournefc quoting Frawley saying it's time the players step up.
Well it's time you step up James. Offer him the big contract 5 years 3.5-4 million and tell him he either signs it or we look to trade him now.
Roos is smart he knows that it was a signal about Frawley.

And sewell is not interested either but that does not mean it wont happen. Generally I think most players would not be interested until events start to move and have to decide on what they are going to do.
-
Good luck those wankers at Windy Hill want the Bulldogs first round for Stuart Crameri.. Plz that is massive overs for an ordinary player..
I don't like our chance of drafting anyone from that scumhole. Plus they have Asada looming over their heads..
They are and have always been in denial over the whole affair and have absolutely no trade leverage.

I find this statement interesting.
"Mumford: I never got sat down (to be told I wasn't going to be offered a contract). I put two and two together:"
AFL media reports:
: Shane Mumford tells Trade Radio no player at the Swans had any idea Buddy was going to join the club. Says he wish he could have stayed at Swans but saw the writing on the wall when Buddy signed.
The rot in the culture has started, imagine not telling your players whether they are required or not. Will we see others take a similar view?

A Roos gambit here, I can hear the interview now:
"We are looking for the best candidate and the boys will know who will be coaching them going forward even if that person is not yet available. We will keep our door open to all expressions of interest..... No I have not spoken to Richard . I am still disappointed but I am sure we will speak sometimme in the future. The Buddy thing does surprise me a little and no doubt we will see how his body holds up for 10 years. I cant see us doing a deal like that here at the Dees where we will be trying to build our own culture. I am sure the swans have a plan but its hard to work out what its going to look like. "

Why rush?
Means Roos will stay at least year 3.
I suspect the article is calling the Swans bluff by signalling that he is leaving in a year and we can wait.
By saying there will be no assistant appointed this year because we are waiting for the candidate we want to become available it will do Colless head in.
Dews position at the Swans will be untenable, he would just be gathering more inside information for a year at the swans, and getting close to those who will want to leave because Buddy has all the money.
The swans are about to be out flanked here i suspect.

Who goes out of the Freo 22 to fit him in on a regular basis?
-
Has had a few issues with his groin and hamstrings I assume they are ok now.Luke Shuey and a player for Pick 2 is what I'm hearing.
Source is going to give us a buzz in about 10mins and fill me in with all that he knows. Will post here straight away.
I'd take that in a heartbeat if that eventuates. I'd like WCE to throw in Matt Rosa aswell. Shuey barracked for us as a kid. Wants to comeback to Melbourne.
Get excited people. The kid is a gun.
Sylvia gone aswell.

Free agency only helps clubs in contention and denudes those not.
The AFL scheme gives supporters at the dogs, north and here no hope.

I think he did too 'Jack', the worry is the rubbish that came out of King's mouth a bit later. Get in the game he say's or perish, we now have the US AFL. King is not overly intelligent and thinks clubs can bring in a boom recruit or 2 and win the title like they do in the US, I think it's more likely to be a US model with an EPL result where we will have a few clubs at the top and the rest providing limited competition.
At least in the EPL the season is always kept interesting as there are many prizes on offer, not jut the big one. You have the FA cup, whatever the other cup is called now, playing for a spot in Europe, promotion and relegation.
With our game a lot of clubs are out of the running before the season starts or at least within the first few rounds the rest are effectively dead rubbers. This can't continue.
We're not out of the woods yet by a long shot but you are right with St Kilda, things look very grim down there.
King was talking absolute nonsense. "dont complain just do a better deal" A bit hard to do when the AFL is giving the Swans an extra $1m to play with and they can offer immediate success.
Maybe he should offer to run Nth and find out what the real world is like.

The Trade/Draft Rumour Mill

Maybe just Scully's ashes....
If Frawley is off then a swap this year makes sense but how do they convince him to go to GWS?
You can tell he is just sick of losing and having to try and stem the tide for 80% of a game.
