  1. I love the segment each week. Have to admit when Bomber started at the cats I had my doubts but listening to him over the year has been an eye opener.

I hope the players watch it each week as it must give them confidence we are on the right track.

  2. I was at the game instead of spending time with my daughter, mistake.

We were hopeless and despite that in the game at 3/4 time. When Chip kicked the goal we should have run on but predicably we didn't.

Too many in the team need to go back to Casey for a win. Trengove would have been an asset yesterday as the game wasn't played at speed however I would like to see him play a few games at Casey before he returns.

    The positives:

Dunn is showing signs of what Roos can do with an average player of AFL standard.

Tyson was good but needed help in the centre. (he was a lot better than Kelly who got into the play in junk time).

JKH will be a match winner when he starts to pick up the flow of the game, he needs more game time.

Roos gave Terlich a spray which should ring in his ears for weeks (at Casey).

    Negatives:

Howie just blazed away and his goal square defence was hopeless, not a backman.

Grimes was terrible, I noticed he seemed to be injured in the 1st so not sure if he was carrying something all day but even so missing in action.

No clearances. Forget the forward line we weren't even getting first use of the ball. Jones was not right and looked really dejected. Viney just leapt on the ball and clearly needed a week at Casey before he came back. Spencer was a ladder for Mummy.

I could go on but what was apparent was their tackling to disrupted our game plan. We just didnt hang onto the ball and work it around. Roos will have been wild about that especially in the conditions.

Watts is not right and looks like he is carrying an injury in his leg. He couldn't run at times.

If we play like that again we will not win a game this year.

  3. Just read that but it says Garland wont be in for GWS then later that he will play this week, I assume for the scorps. Not at all clear anyway we should consider him if he is fit for the VFL as we really need him in some capacity. And how does Gawn go from ready to the 2 to 3 week out?

What on earth can Roos do without a forward line?

  4. My team for this week based on Roos mixing it up:

B: Jack Trengove , James Frawley, Alex Georgiou

HB: Jack Grimes,Lynden Dunne, Colin Garland

C: Jeremy Howe, Dom Tyson, Daniel Cross

HF: Jimmy Toumpas, Tom McDonald, Dean Terlich

F: Sam Blease, Max Gawn, Jay Kennedy-Harris

FOLL: Jake Spencer, Nathan Jones, Bernie Vince

I/C: Shannon Byrnes, Viv Michie, Dean Kent, Jack Watts

    EMG:Jack Viney

    Michael Evans, Rohan Bail

I thought of Garland for forward pocket or FF as an option to bring him back with Gawn in the pocket and ruck.

  5. I think Roos said a fresh team the implication being it would cut ties with what just happened to change the mind set. He is trying to get them to forget the past. My bet is he will put Dunn at FF and watts across HF with Gawn at CHF. We need the to provide the crumbs for blease. I expect terlich to be moved forward as well. Perhaps trenners to terlichs position. Howie to the wing. Could be an interesting week.

  6. From big footy.....

"When do we officially get worried about Sylvia? Five disposals at 20% efficiency. That's ******* laughable for an experienced AFL player.

Surely a chance to play for Peel round 1 now."

  7. Georgiou is the sort of guy Roos will like, studied and worked full time whilst playing. Level headed keen to do well.

Whilst I'd love to see Jetta suddenly make it I suspect he wont.

The best bit is we might be starting to develop competition for spots in the side which can only be a good thing.

  8. As stated earlier, these days it is about being a professional footballer. Most who are drafted don't make it to 50 games. If your job had the potential for such a limited tenure, would you not try and maximise your earning potential? Being a football player is Chippers job, not a weekend pastime.

He has every right to explore his career opportunities. That said, he is a loyal servant of the club to this point in time and has right to expect his employer to provide him with some incentive, over and above money, to keep doing his job with the same employer. Unlike other naysayers, I believe that will happen. Chip does not need us to be knocking on the door of the 8 in 2014, he's just looking for the club to be clearly heading in a positive direction. If that happens and I reckon it will this year, Chip stays in my opinion.

Have to agree with this, anyone with eyes has seen how unhappy he has looked in the last 2 years. It has affected his performance along with the never ending rain of sherrins on his head.

I think two things will decide if he stays, an overall improvement and his relationship with Roos.

I think there is no doubt Roos is with us for the 3 years now and once his family is settled in Melbourne we might find he is prepared to stay a bit longer.

If Chippa is smiling by round 7 or so then we are a good chance.

  9. I was at the team photo shoot yesterday.

Grimes and Jones sitting proudly either side of Roos, read into that what you will.

Clark and Frawley either side of them but I don't expect to see a third captain, despite what happened at the Swans.

Done and Dusted i'd say on the basis of this information.

    Grimes and Jones co captains

    Clark and Frawley Vice captains

Good result only improved if they announce Frawley has a new contract.

If Clark is vice captain I guess he really is fit and ready to play.

  10. * Dunn - I am not a huge fan of his but he is working hard and he has a beautfiul kick

    * Pederson - worked his butt off and his defensive pressure on more nimble players was really good today

Any questions I am happy to try and answer.

Jut looked at the pics of training and Dunn looked switched on, is it possible he will improve under Roos? Same, with pederson? I'd be interested in the thoughts of those watching training.

  11. Rjay Condolences, a tough time for your family.

To all the demonlanders family my very uncreative wish is you all have a relaxing and happy christmas with your loved ones and thanks for the discussion this year.

Lets hope Mr Roos turns out to be santa and brings us many wins.

  12. This may be worth a thread on its own but can we get rid of Bradshaw from the commentary. He drives me nuts saying the obvious and the down right wrong. At least chappelli can blame his age for his failings, his anti sledging rant in which he claimed it didn't happen on his watch was breath taking.

    Anyone else want Bradshaw removed?

  13. Good luck to Aaron. He's embarking in the next phase of his football journey and, unlike C & B, I salute him for his contribution to the club. I note that he has one more Bluey Truscott Memorial Trophy at home in his cabinet than most posters on Demonland.

There's no doubt that Aaron's career took a turn for the worst when he broke his foot in that fateful game against Hawthorn late in 2010 that robbed him of his greatest asset - his pace. We rarely saw him at his best after that and he was later embroiled in that awful controversy involving the Mifsud/Neeld racism allegations which, like many of the AFL's fiascos, was never satisfactorily resolved. He saw out the season and his contract with a patchy year in 2013 in which he showed some glimpses of his past self and I think both he and the club handled his final year well.

The venture at Richmond VFL sounds interesting and just to add to the interest is the suggestion made overnight on twitter that Austin Wonaemirri could be joining him.

    LIKE.

Good luck Flash. A terriffic contribution to the club.
