  1. "Mistakes don't matter!" I understand what he meant by this but you had to have a chuckle. For me it showed him up. It was just...bad.
  2. All legitimate questions.
  3. Kinda feels like the end for me. Sorry, just being honest.
  4. Has to walk. Surely.
  5. It's either a massive clean out or the club folds I think.
  6. I will not be missing the post match presser. Will be more intriguing than the game that's for sure.
  7. Dunno about mid year. Would like to see it happen before then.
  8. He himself must surely be questioning whether he's the right man to take the club forward. On no level is this defendable. If he can't lift the team for their customary bounce back after a flogging, he's done.
  9. Port 63 GWS 51, playing in Adelaide
  10. Jamar...wow. Just wow. Ryder made a mockery of him. You'd have to think Neeld won't see out the year at this point. C'mon boys, some respectability needed. By that I mean under 100 points.
  11. Jamar can't play next week. He can't.
  12. I love you Flash!
  13. Well done to Grimes on this. As a Melbourne fan as well as a player, he "gets" it. To the OP, a well known Melbourne troll (ex Melbourne fan who now supports Adelaide but has continually hung [censored] on the club) has posted this story on the Bigfooty site. For what reason I don't know, but thought you should know.
  14. Pre-season predictions were that forward potency would again be an issue for the Dogs this year and despite their strong start I still think that will be the case. With the re-emergence of Cooney, they actually have one of the better midfields going around, hence their dominance in those key stats. It is at the opposite ends of the ground where they will struggle again.
  15. The extent of David King's stupidity never ceases to amaze me. How one man can consistently talk so much nonsense is amazing. He was actually criticising using high draft picks to bring in Clark (yes..Mitch Clark), and Dawes. Said that there should have been a view to the future. So essentially stockpile high draft picks hey Kingy? Kinda like how we did under Bailey? That worked out pretty well. Then criticised the "moneyball" approach. Fair enough to question the selections but a total failure to acknowledge the need to fill the mature player void. Put up a list of new players and asked the question "is that how you build a club?". The list had names like Viney, Toumpas, Kent, Terlich and M Jones. Players who are all but completely untested as to what they can bring with the exception of Viney. Notable absence on the list was Hogan which helped his "argument". Once again talked up Blease as being the only real standout, an opinion he has based on the one, single intra-club match he watched where Blease did well. Melbourne is the easiest of targets to criticise right now and yet King still manages to talk crap when applying the blowtorch. The only thing he can take solace in is that he talks more sense than McClure - the undisputed king of making judgements based on zero actual knowledge.
  16. Thanks again for the responses. I decided to forward this onto the club on the back of them. I've always said this is a real community and I think that's evident in this thread. Our stories are important. What footy represents and what it can achieve, regardless of the result, transcends the game itself. Let's hope the boys have a dig this week.
  17. Best wishes LS.
  18. Humbled by these replies fellas. Much appreciated.
  19. I think Gerard Whateley summed it up best when responding to Watts' comment that Melbourne doesn't have a Joel Selwood or a Sam Mitchell who can stand up when the team is losing and refuse to accept it: "Jack...Jack....it's you mate. It's YOU! They're waiting for you! We're all waiting for you!"
  20. Hehe, I'm guessing it was anything but? Mark Beretta. He may as well have been interviewed by Barney the dinosaur.
  21. Fellow Demon faithful, This week we lost one of our own. My old man passed away at the age of 87. At 33 years of age myself, a quick sum in your head will tell you that there was a unique age gap between dad and me. Indeed it’s fair to say that as interests and hobbies go, we didn’t share alot of common ground. One thing we did share however was our mutual love of Australian rules football. It took until my teens for the love affair with the game and the club to truly begin, and it was at this stage that dad and I found that extra bit of common ground we always searched for. As a boy from Ballarat, dad had followed Melbourne ever since he was a lad. He would tell me about his trips to the G and the many suburban grounds, reeling off names like Mueller, Cordner and Barrassi when speaking of some of his favourite memories. Needless to say, I was impressed. Some of my fondest memories of him will be the simple pleasure of a Sunday afternoon, beers in hand, screaming at the tv in unison, be it in anger or jubilation. In the latter years as dad’s mind started to fail him, his interest waned. Some would consider him fortunate considering the plight of the club. But even during this time, he would sometimes turn to me and ask a question like... “Simon, whose that player with the long “Oooooo” name?” “Yze?” “That’s the one. Oooozey”, he’d say with a grin. The smile on his face would tell me that passion still flickered inside. As the man ultimately responsible for me being a Melbourne Demons supporter, the guy has ALOT to answer for. But I wouldn’t change it for the world, and I’m going to miss the old bloke enormously. Many of us have vented our pure disdain for the state of the club as it stands. I’ve been a prime offender. But as I watch us take on the Bombers this Saturday, for the first time in a long time, I won’t be focussing on every misdirected pass or every poor tackle, of which there could be plenty. I will be thinking about my old man, and the times I enjoyed with him just watching the footy. I don’t write this post to draw attention to anything other than to remember, this weekend and beyond, that whilst this sport and this club can form a big part of your life, it is not the be all and end all. At the end of the day, it’s a game. Cliched, but true. It will bring highs and low, maybe more lows than highs for all of us, but let’s not lose sight of that. As for Johnny, looking down, his Demon spirit will always live on through me. Cheers guys and girls. Go Dees.
  22. It's going to be a massacre to the tune of god knows how many. But in the almost impossible event that it isn't, and the lingering doubt in the mind's of Essendon players about our unbeaten little run somehow gets us over the line, I'll enjoy it. Christ knows it's not often we get to enjoy a win. An actual win.
  23. There were many things he said in that presser tha made me think "wtf?", but that was near the top of the pile. We were puss during the NAB Cup.
  24. Webber said he would use the surf as his remedy after the Vettel incident. You may have a point.
  25. Jens, I have absolutely zero interest in engaging in a game of 20 questions with you, only for you to turn around with your stock standard, childish insults. It's not a discussion. It's your attempt at oneupmanship. I only discuss footy with those I respect and your conduct on this forum has done nothing to earn that. I've made my view clear enough. You sit there and be content with your footy side. I'm taking a different route.
