  1. I'm glad we get to see Toump in this game. Got a bit of it last time and gets a chance to build some more confidence at this level.
  2. P-man

    Sidebottom

He jumped, raised the elbow, made contact with the head, and had other options. Should go for sure, but given it's Collingwood it is by no means a certainty. . If he does go that is a great out.
  3. I take your point and don't wish to sound dismissive, but you might be overthinking it in terms of focussing on race. As you've acknowledged, it is a celebration of culture. Not just of Aboriginal culture but of Australian culture. I don't see any harm in occasionally reminding the wider population about the history and traditions of the original inhabitants. It is part of our collective history, and in that sense is very unifying. It is also celebrating what football has done and can do in bringing people of different colours and backgrounds together. Statistically, we still have a long way to go in terms of racial divides and achieving higher living standards for all, but this is an opportunity to focus on the good. In football we have an arena where everyone is truly, wholly, equal. That should be celebrated. And then, yes, there is celebrating the contribution of indigenous players. This is the element that opponents tend to focus upon in questioning why indigenous players should be singled out in this way. But pause to think of what the game would be missing over time without the unique skills of your Riolis or your Krakeours. They bring a rawness in their style of play that is unique and has helped to shape the game. Overall, there is a lot to celebrate. Rather than focussing on why we shouldn't be doing it, think about the reasons that we should, and take a moment to feel proud about it.
  4. They look fantastic for the most part and the artists involved should feel very proud. Well done to all the clubs on this one.
  5. The midfield isn't travelling as poorly as that at present. The absence of Jamar at the beginning of the season is reflected in the overall results. We've actually won the least three clearance battles: Richmond (41-32) Bulldogs (46-45) Adelaide (40-37) Even against the much fancied Swans midfield, the clearances were 29-35. A quality tap ruckman makes a massive difference, and with Russian in form, we have that. Still a few more quality inclusions needed, but the midfield has come a long way from the black hole of the last couple of years.
  6. Unless it is something absolutely ridiculous, I'm not sure you can pay overs for a player like Cameron. I would want the club to go all out. He's not the final piece of the puzzle, but he would be an enormous get, especially for a team at our stage of development. Re Sam Reid, not interested unless it was bargain bin. Wouldn't be nearly as hyped without his brother being the player that he is. Very underwhelming player.
  7. If he goes on the market, several clubs will be moving heaven and earth to get him. With due cause. He is definitely worth a million a year and we should be placing ourselves well and truly in the mix.
  8. Found it interesting that he was quite forthright in his expectation that Chip will stay. Hopefully his confidence is well placed.
  9. Jonesy's review is up. The admiration I have for that man knows no bounds. What's going on with the background music btw? It sounds like something you'd hear at a massage salon.
  10. Hartlett will get rubbed out for his behind the play strike on Hill. Every little bit helps.
  11. I'm actually really looking forward to next week, which in itself is amazing.
  12. Posts like these are a rarity on here. Kudos GNF. Keep up the good work with your insider reports.
  13. I don't think Neeld's approach can in any way be defended. Jamar's recent comments about how refreshing it was to be "treated like men" could not have been more blatant in its message. I don't see Allison's comments as being in the same ballpark as Neeld's inadequacies as a communicator.
  14. I get where you're coming from rpfc, in the interest of fairness etc. I do however think this type of feedback is arguably more important for the fringe players as they are the ones trying to break into the side and have been given instructions on what they need to do to achieve that. The outstanding majority of us don't get to watch Casey, so this is our means for tracking performance and the appraisals provide the story behind the stats. They are just more honest than they have been in the past, and I don't think they are tipping over into the area of ridicule (which is how I interpreted Welsh's comments as they were printed). Watching MFC games, we can use our eyes to determine if players are or aren't working hard enough defensively. I also doubt the Casey boys would have much of an issue with theirs being made public. They have bigger fish to fry.
  15. Good enough for me. Sign him up Roosy.
  16. Nah it's fair enough. I'd boof him.
  17. This is how I look at it. By the end of 2016 there is every chance we'll be giving things a real crack. Will he just hand over at that point? It would seem unlikely, to me.
  18. It really is like they are totally detached from "ordinary" Australians. I couldn't believe people were satisfied with Hockey's response on Q&A to the education reforms. Saying that people still only pay once they start working. Of course they do, that's never been the issue. The issue is that they are going to end up paying a hell of a lot more, with a whopping great interest bll heaped on top of it. That creates a FURTHER disincentive for people to attend university. Meanwhile morons like a Bolt are still towing the company line as strong as ever. I read his blog the other day and the state of delusion with him and his followers is honestly amazing. Sanity has to prevail here. Grit the teeth for 2 years and then send them packing, not to return until they get a leader who isn't a whack job.
  19. I was laughing out loud at that piece of play. The sort of thing only the VERY good players are capable of doing.
  20. Right now he's a lot better than top 50. 5th for clearances 4th for disposals 6th for effective disposals 9th for contested possessions He's in the top 10 midfielders in the game right now.
  21. 1. 9/10 - could have more scoreboard impact but other than that.. 2. OUR top five? Clearly yes. Top five in the league, no. Probably top 20 though, the way he's playing.
  22. Not only that, it is a temporary measure. It is nothing more than a transparent ploy enabling Abbott and Hockey to keep peddling their lies about everyone doing the "heavy lifting".
  23. That is the greatest understatement in Demonland history lol at anyone who says differently p.s. Watts is a culture killer and all his teammates must hate him. He is also the best set shot in the league and our most important re-signing.
  24. for the first time in a long time I think there is a convincing argument for re-signing, outside of love for the club. I would be quite surprised if either of Dunn or T Mac don't re-sign with gusto.
  25. It's in stark contrast to the fluffy reviews of the past which have basically said nothing at all.
