  1. Geeze they don't muck around on footywire. Went to look up his stats and he's already been moved to Melbourne's "Past Players".
  2. Hope they get offered a lifeline. Haven't had the best of luck, Strauss especially.
  3. Massive bonus if we can turn him into a bona fide AFL player. Signs are sounding positive.
  4. Winnable. They don't even know who their coach is at this point.
  5. Agreed. I wouldn't be overly disappointed if his name was called out after Brayshaw's.
  6. I liked him early on but he seems to have stalled in his development. On the balance of what I've seen of him recently I'd say no.
  7. Was looking at Aaron Edwards but had no idea he was 30 years old. I was going to guess 25-26. Anyone but Leroy Jetta. Seriously, anyone at all.
  8. The forwardline will also be +Howe +Garlett +a fully fit Dawes.
  9. Where is the interview on the club website? It's not every day the club signs up royalty. Get your act together Burgo.
  10. Naked, I assume. The full moon shadow.
  11. The only other one I'm seeing is St Kilda take McCartin and we take Petracca and Wright (best midfielder and best available KPP), which would be kinda funny given Brayshaw is the one that everyone assumes will be a Demon next season. I hope we take the two best mids in this scenario though. They are the two best available players, both ready to hit the ground running, so we should take them.
  12. I agree. If I was to tip one player to have a career best year it's Howey. Will be a welcome return to the forwardline. Needs to work on his consistency but he has all the tools to become an A grader over the next couple of years. He also brings people through the gates and keeps the younger generations mildly interested in the club. Absolute keep unless the offer couldn't be refused.
  13. He loves the club as much as anyone, and I don't mean a Mitch Clark type of "love". The only way he will be given pause for thought is if we go backwards next season, which seems unlikely. I'm not worried... *wringing hands out of view*
  14. It may sound like I'm making excuses for him. Not my intention. What I'm saying is a) I don't know the bloke, and b) every individual incident has its own set of circumstances that I don't know. Look at the comments in this thread. Is it really unthinkable that he has a target on his back when he goes out? Some cretinous thug would thump him and have a story to tell his cretinous mates for the rest of his life, to a round of high fives. The guy who thumped Robbo! Buy that man a beer! I'm not going to join the chorus of torch bearers in labelling him a DH. If that's excuse making, so be it. He's a young guy whose obviously made some questionable decisions along the way. He has a young family now and people deserve a chance to mature and make good. Including him.
  15. I've been involved in a nightclub fight where I was anything but a willing participant. We don't know the facts. Bottom line. The discussion should focus on what he can bring ON the field, but I realise that's a vain hope.
  16. Gee Laverde looks a likely type. Explosive speed, evasive and an excellent kick. The write up that says he could become the next Crameri seems to be underselling him. A lot.
  17. Many footballers are out til the early hours during H&A. It's naive to think otherwise. They don't all seem to attract unwanted attention though, so Robbo becomes the villain again. If he finds a new home, and for his sake I hope he does, I'll say again that I'd be surprised if he doesn't modify his going out habits under pretty strict instruction.
  18. He isn't the first to have white line fever and won't be the last, but that I can accept a bit more. I just don't buy into the off field villain image. There are two sides to every story. I care about whether he'd make us a better side. The rest verges on being a non-issue. He'll be 25 next year. I'd be surprised if he hasn't learned from the incidents he's been involved in, and whichever club picks him up would be making absolutely clear what is and isn't expected of him.
  19. So just to be clear, when he is assaulted he is not entitled to defend himself, or he is not entitled to be out in nightclubs? Or both? Saying that the fact he is not the instigator is "besides the point" purely because he's a sportsman is, on its own, a crazy thing to say.
  20. It's honestly bewildering reading comments lambasting someone I would wager none of you have met in your lives. And for what, exactly? A comment he never actually made himself ("bruise free"). What a DH! Defending himself when physically attacked at a music festival. What a DH! His greatest crime was not being upfront with the club regarding his involvement with Garlett, who reportedly was also attacked. But of course let's assume the worst cause it's Robinson. Did I mention..what a DH!!! I'm sure none of you have ever touched a drop of alcohol or gone out and found yourself In a situation you'd rather not be in. A bunch of pristine angels. His on field value is what matters, and that is debatable. He didn't have the most inspiring season but Malthouse was clearly never a huge fan. Any off field stuff is a bunch of overblown tripe. This idea that he could corrupt the club is absolutely ridiculous.
  21. Ideal best 22 by season's end. B: Jetta Dunn Frost HB: Garland McDonald Lumumba C: Vince N Jones Toumpas HF: Howe Dawes Watts F: Garlett Hogan JKH R: Gawn Tyson Brayshaw Int: Viney, Michie, Salem (Kent) E: Grimes, Cross, Pedersen, Riley, Barry
  22. Agreed. After watching it I felt a lot more at ease with the decision. We will continue to improve next season. We've added a bit more dash from the back which has a flow on effect, and the injection of two forwards in Garlett and Hogan will improve the scoreboard pressure. The extent of improvement may end up being moderate, but it will be enough to convince Jones he should play out his career at this club (which I'm sensing is the main fear people are having..). Comfortable pass mark for me. Giving up picks 2 & 3 for Kennedy would have been a short sighted move and I'm glad it wasn't made. I look forward to adding two elite young talents to an increasingly exciting list.
  23. And Hogan (effectively).
