  1. Thanks for the reports guys. Bummer now is that they have 2 weeks off. Terrible for the likes of Cook, Strauss etc. etc. Perhaps Jurrah still needs another run to get his match fitness up. Perhaps they might rush him back in for Sydney, presumably would add something the likes of Petterd don't seem to be able to for the moment.
  2. Yes - perhaps those constantly calling for him to be included should watch that first half. Has done some great things in the past, but well off the pace this year. Sylvia not much better.
  3. ... and not just that. We're losing games because LJ got into a stoush in Alice Springs, TS left, we cut Energy Watch, and Neil Craig isn't doing enough interviews?
  4. And here we go again. Speculation, exaggeration and hyperbole. Who here has said Jack will go at one? Everyone? Really? And since when did 4-6 weeks become half a season? Though just to add, it's a jaw injury that won't stop his general training, and Casey have 2 of those weeks off in any case.
  5. Getting mentioned on Demonland as speculation makes it a fact?
  6. In: Junior McDonald. 26 possessions, 3 marks, 6 tackles against Carlton. Earned a spot I would say.
  7. Exactly. So no need to put words in people's mouths. Once again no-one here has said that they were "happy" or "satisfied", which is what you keep coming back to for anyone who doesn't agree with your one-dimensional view. As for your description of our opponents ... put it this way. I'd love for Melbourne to become as "second-rate" as Geelong were today.
  8. As usual with your posts ... where did anyone say they were satisfied? Just because people aren't bitching and moaning and laying into the players every chance they get doesn't mean they're "easily satisfied".
  9. Just about. Out: Sellar, Bail In: Fitzpatrick, Couch I'd be looking at Bennell as well.
  10. Is it pre-season again? Nothing else to post about? How about we critiicize Watts for his hair-cut or choice of after-shave? Inane.
  11. Probably all we can ask for at the moment. Will be interesting to see what/if any changes for next week. Sellar/Fitzpatrick, Bail/Couch? Wouldn't mind Bennel given another chance, has had a couple of good games at Casey it seems, and we could use some leg speed. Sylvia? Has been ordinary for his first two games, but he's exactly the kind of player we need doing well.
  12. No-one's saying it's happy days - but I agree with the earlier post, I checked here at half time and can't believe how unrelentingly bleak many of the posts are. Clark great, Tapscott better than he's been all year, Davey getting going, McDonald showing a bit ...
  13. a) who's to say we'll be paying overs and B) what's not to be optimistic about getting one of the standouts of this year's draft? You, and others here, continue to refer to some kind of "market value" when in reality there isn't one.
  14. No it's not. We don't bid at all, we only nominate him as F/S. It's the other clubs that bid (or not). We then just have to match those bids to get him. If there are no bids on a nominated F/S player, he's automatically taken by the nominating club with the last pick in the draft. Once he's nominated F/S, we have no choices and no say in the matter. All we can do is match bids, not match bids or take him last pick if there are no bids.
  15. It's not a potential outcome. Viney, first pick Melbourne. It's already done. Get used to it. And enjoy it.
  16. What would you call it if we take a top-10 player with a pick in the top 10? Like quite a few posts on this thread, yours is riddled with assumptions. Firstly that GWS or GC wouldn't want Viney with their first pick, secondly that only GWS and GC will finish below us this year, and thirdly, that all clubs will keep their first picks and not trade them. We Just Don't Know. If Viney does play for Casey on Saturday, someone should camp by the pie-stand to see if Big Phil Scully drops past for his customary half-dozen.
  17. Just what is the problem here? Jack's a future star, he's ours, we'll get him with a top 10 pick. This idea of "market value" is just conjecture, and irrelevant even 6 months down the track. If not, the number 1 draft pick would win the Rising Star every year. He's clearly one of THE standout players in this year's draft. Win win win. No-one's dictating terms, hard to see just what you're getting so worked up about.
  18. Agree - but then again, we don't know that we will be paying overs, even at Pick 3 (if that's where we get him). I agree with Emma Quayle re this, I just do not understand the consternation expressed by some here. One of the easiest drafting decisions we'll ever have to make, whatever pick he goes at. And the idea that we can somehow "hide" someone who's already racking up under-age BOG nominations is a bit beyond me. Every man and his dog knows about Viney and his capabilities - which is why Adelaide were sniffing round when he was only 16.
  19. Surprised no-one has quoted one of the best in the business, Emma Q ... Emma Quayle ‏ @emmasq Why am I seeing Dees fans freaking out over what they'll pay for Viney? The season has barely started. He could well be worth top three. Emma Quayle ‏ @emmasq Viney strikes as a "safe" pick but so did M Murphy. Talented player, aggressive, brilliant, professional attitude, 2 years of prep #relax
  20. There's nothing stopping you looking optimistically into the future. You don't need a Casey thread to help you in that regard.
  21. What's honest about mindless player abuse? And why not give us some examples of the 'hey boys lose by as much as you want we love you anyway hurrah!' types. I can't say I read every post on every thread here, but where on this site has anyone ever said that? Be good for you to back up some of what you're posting. As if it matters.
