  1. He'll be 34 next season. A bit late for the leopard to change his spots, especially when there are no real consequences. He plays out his last year at Casey, pockets his $900K, and sails into the sunset. But heh, good luck to him.
  2. Either: Taylor definitely has something in mind, or we wouldn't have accepted it. Or ... We're not really interested in 7 & 8 and we'll be doing pick swaps to get a higher pick or something more in 2026
  3. Head of football isn't a forward-facing job. CEO is the face of the club, and given the scope of the changes it's understandable that he should front up. Remembering also that the mail-out was only to members. This is aimed at the GP and wider supporter base - at a time when memberships are due to be renewed.
  4. Not just FA, there are lot whose contracts run out next year. May, Campbell, one of Jefferson or Johnson, Laurie, McAdam, Tom Mac, Jake M, Henderson, Mentha ... We could just about make it to double figures again, which would be like turning over half the list across 2 seasons.
  5. I wouldn't. He's only got a year left and he would just take the place of one of our younger forwards who need game time and experience. Having a forward line built around players well over 30 (May, Mihoceck, Melksham) is how you make yourself irrelevant going forward.
  6. It was 13, 15, 20 with two second rounders coming back. If we'd got similar we would have been worse off. Also, Cameron was 27 at the time, with his best footy still to come. The reverse of Trac.
  7. Of course. I meant earlier on, before Oliver decided.
  8. afl.com.auDees 'thrilled' as veteran joins late, club secures huge...Melbourne list boss Tim Lamb discusses the departures of two club greats and what the future holds after a seismic trade period for the DemonsWherein Lamb blows out of the water the notion that we weren't interested in this draft: "We thought it was important to jump into these drafts as heavily as we could." "In the early part of this draft we're super excited, there's some elite talent."
  9. Lamb isn’t our recruiting manager. And that’s not the only thing you got wrong.
  10. Might be a different vid. Max was talking and there’s an odd angle, as if someone’s shooting under their arm.
  11. There’s a video doing the rounds of May during a post match pep talk from Gawn, where May is not only not paying attention but talking to players around him, or trying to. It’s an appalling look, and the opposite of what you’d expect of a senior player. If it’s the kind of thing that’s going on behind closed doors, you can understand why they’d try and move him on. Though intriguing who filmed it and then leaked it, seems to be one of the players sitting near him.
  12. These are not King’s moves to make. He’s but one voice in list management, and in the case of Oliver, Trac and May, it’s a club-wide decision. He said himself he wasn’t part of the Trac discussions and that they happened in GF week before he arrived.
  13. And to reply to my own post … He basically confirmed that Oliver was pushed out (though perhaps not in as many words), and that crucially, we weren't taking him back.
  14. Interesting interview with Jason McCartney, GWS manager of football. I’m paraphrasing, but after the meeting with Clayton, Melbourne knew what they were doing but they didn’t have any strength in the negotiations. He was very complimentary about Tim Lamb, but said that sometimes these situations arise, and that he’d also been through it before. IOW, they worked out what they were prepared to pay and it was take it or leave it. He only had 2 discussions with Tim Lamb, it was mostly done through Clayton’s manager. He also said that you have to look at the whole trade and draft period, not just individual trades. If anyone else was listening and wants to expand on or correct the above, feel free. Clearly, the main thing working against us was that there weren’t rival bidders to push the price up. As it was, they had us over a barrel.
  15. Straight out of Moneyball! Now we just need to find another 28. 4 extra per game from 7 players?
  16. Word on Hawks' boards seems to be that he's better as a defender with the game in front of him. Doesn't have the footy IQ for the wing.
  17. (From Lore over at BF):
  18. Not that we'll hear about anyway ...
  19. But still not as much as when Gus was forced to retire.
  20. He's been playing alongside Sicily ...
  21. Sure, but these are still kids, and there's a lot of water to go under the bridge. Lachie Neale was taken pick 58. Even in a weak draft there will be 200 gamers.
  22. Not necessarily. Even when you do all you need to, things don't always work out. Just the way it is. People.
  23. Dynamic will be very different with Mihocek and in particular, Steele around.
  24. And we tried to move Steven May.
