  1. The fact that most of the players we’ve brought in are forwards speaks volumes as to where the FD think we are.
  2. The fact that he has played actual games in the actual AFL would tend to contradict that I would have thought.
  3. No longer one of us, but perhaps of interest in the context of current discussions re “culture” at the Dees, given that he was moved on. Hope he finds a good place. https://houseoffooty.com.au/i-was-crying-myself-to-sleep-watts-reflects-on-his-toughest-period/
  4. Also footy smarts and experience when it mattered. So many of those close Collingwood wins were driven by Pendles and Sidebottom. That fateful minute against Carlton that lead to the Acres goal was a succession of poor/unnecessary decisions that cooler and smarter heads wouldn't have made.
  5. Also smart, or smart enough - would much rather Oscar kicking out of the back line than Lever or Tomlinson.
  6. WC are not trading 1 for anything less than 2 single-figure picks, one of those higher than 6. And no matter what they're bundled with. Also, future picks aren't going to help, they need new talent ASAP. Not to mention they've already effectively rejected our 6+11+F1 offer.
  7. The only reason to consider this would be who might be available next year at pick one or two. If there's someone there that the club is really, really into then maybe they'd look at it.
  8. Worked really hard, made vfl team of the year at FB, earned another chance. Was already discussed mid season, with teams interested, so not a surprise. Good luck to him.
  9. They haven't said no, they just haven't accepted it for the moment. Equally, there's no rush. They can just sit on all this until draft night. Equally equally, they're not going to accept that in any case. It's pretty clear that they want 2 single-figure picks, as you would.
  10. Geelong are not doing that, even with a future sweetener. All this is going on because everyone's jostling to get into the top 10, the quality really drops off after that.
  11. Can't see Geelong or anyone inside the top 10 wanting to move lower. Agree re North, was just looking at what might get WC to move. But in reality, I don't see any of these scenarios playing out. No one is prepared to pay enough, even if they have the picks.
  12. Not necessarily, perhaps only one of those. 2 + 6, or 2 + 11 + 15 (or one of their late first rounders). Both v. good for WC I would have thought in terms of rebuilding.
  13. Who knows, but from everything we've heard WC want 2 single-digit picks to even pick up the phone. Everyone keeps saying that there's a real gap this year between the first 8 to 10 and the rest.
  14. WCE have apparently made clear that they would want two single-figure swaps, and one of those would need to be 2 or 3. So 3+9 minimum, though you'd think even that wouldn't be enough to give away Reid.
  15. In regards to North, I think Clarkson's comments were revealing after North won the last match and so dropped from 1 to 2 in the draft. He said that at the very top end of the draft you were going to get a really good young player no matter which pick it was. (or something like that). He didn't seem all that fussed to miss out on 1. I think they'll hold their hand, not only because two picks is better than one, but because they already have a lot of good young mids and need key position players, which Reid isn't.
  16. I do too, but I don't see how we get there. I don't think any of the solutions proposed in this thread are going to be enough to get it done. The one slither of hope would be that Curtin could still be there at 6, and if that starts to seem likely, maybe they could be turned. I also think we'd prefer 6 + 11 than 2 or 3 plus a late first round pick. Two bites at the cherry and all that.
  17. In terms of trading for pick one, I think we have the strongest hand. North are always going to keep one of their first two but I don't think their 15 is going to be all that interesting for WC. Like North they need multiple picks as high as possible. Against that, I don't think our 6+11 is enough either, especially the 6. If WC are going to forego 1, you'd think that they would want at least 3 or 4 coming back, plus another pick in the first dozen. All that to say I just don't see that WC are going to trade out 1 because I don't see how it gets done. Maybe Tim Lamb can pull a rabbit out of the hat with some left of field trading, but what and with who? ... hard to see.
  18. North need as many of the best players as possible. I just don't think they're going to move from 2 and 3. That's an incredibly strong hand for a team rebuilding.
  19. His desire to spend more time with his family seems genuine and was addressed by Tim Lamb in his press conference. "We'll work with him to make sure that's a better situation for him."
  20. I don't see any of the other clubs with picks in the top 10 wanting to do a trade unless it was really unbalanced.
  21. Cheap back up, will be more than useful at Casey and for the rest who knows. You always hope that these kind of trades turn into something even though on evidence that's not usually the case. At least he has time on his side.
