  1. To answer your first question, it's because that's how it has been in the previous 10 weeks (and will likely be in the next 10).
  2. I'm sure he'd try and spruik whatever he felt was best for his team, like he's doing now. I think Sheedy was the master of diversion, but now that Kevin has retired, perhaps you're right.
  3. She writes opinion, not 'facts' (aka hard news)...
  4. A couple of points - Firstly, I think Malthouse's swipe at our inconsistency is valid. Compare how we've played vs Hawthorn - Neitz - in round nine (?) and Collingwood on the weekend with the rest of our games. DB has commented on the same thing, commenting that we can't rely on external factors in order to be 'inspired'. Secondly, it's in Malthouse's best interests to have this game - and any similar 'blockbuster' that he feels doesn't work in his favour - canned, if we and others do indeed 'get up' for these type of 'blockbuster' matches versus Collingwood. His comments that Collingwood get little out of the QB clash seem valid, considering our recent track record versus the Pies on QB, and the fact that we always take the gate.
  5. vanlo - cheers. I don't think he necessarily deserves a game if he won't chase etc. His workrate and defensive efforts for the Dees hasn't been great.
  6. Unfortunately he's battled injuries the last couple of years, and he's not far off 30.
  7. They missed plenty too.
  8. Good to see CJ put in yet another good performance, and really demand selection. Valenti's report has come at a bad time, considering Moloney is injured. Hopefully he's available for selection, as there may be a spot in the midfield available. What was Buckley's workrate and defensive pressure like?
  9. Bell had zero options when he turned the ball over to Davis, when trying to hit McDonald(?). However, if you're going to kick to a contest, surely you should kick it to the boundary line, 55 metres from goal. I'm not sure the huddle is the answer, but I thought it was more effective than when we did nothing. I also think that the huddle could be more effective if we get closer and then break quicker, instead of milling around and then jogging off.
  10. Totally. I hope Bell isn't reading this. I have faith that he can be worthy of a spot in our best side, but he's not playing as well as he can at the moment.
  11. As others have said, Moloney's injury is definitely a shoulder, despite it looking like he was holding his wrist when he came off. That's what we tried to do towards the end of last year, wasn't it? It's a shame Rivers can't get out on the park.
  12. Where's the MFC reserve area in the Southern Stand?
  13. Is he still that type? Perhaps with an ageing body he can't quite make the distance these days. He's an experienced footballer who knows how to get into dangerous positions, but he's fairly frustrating to watch at times. It's a shame he didn't square it up to Morton at one point in the last.

    The Walk

Yeah, that was a nice touch. Looking towards the 'G from Fed Square, it was a mass of red and blue snaking its way down the path. I thought the gates opened at ~12. It's only a short walk from Fed Square to the 'G.
  15. From what I saw, there was a very good turnout from Dees fans. After we kicked a goal there was a heap of red and blue, all the way from the Southern Stand around to the MCC via the Olympic stand. It was good to see, considering the Melbourne support isn't normally that obvious.
  16. I'm really surprised with some of the inclusions. Some inclusions have shocked me, but I liked most. I guess I'm surprised that many of the 'modern day' players that I've watched have made the list, but - as with most things - I suppose being fresh in the memory helps. One of his marks, running back with the flight of the ball, is etched into my memory forever.
  17. Considering Distance Demon looked at the last 15 years, your point is (mostly) moot...
  18. I think you're probably on the right track with your latter statement.
  19. They're some impressive stats for Naitanui considering his age and experience, yeah - thanks for the info. I wonder what Cox's stats were in 2000, when he won the Simpson Medal. Picking up ruckman seems to be pretty speculative - Cox was rookie-listed, and many of the senior AFL rucks these days have come via the rookie list or a low draft pick. I imagine it's pretty tough to guess how young talls will develop.
  20. I can't see that West Sydney would embrace a relocated team.
  21. The changes aren't so bad. Bode for Buckley isn't terrible considering we need smalls in defence, and defensive workrate is one area where Buckley is letting himself down atm. Morton for Robertson isn't exactly like-for-like, but I've enjoyed watching Morton this season. Rivers for Frawley is a win.
