  1. There are also more non-MCC members here, and most ideas are not related to the MCC.
  2. What makes you say that? I read Demonland pretty regularly and can't see why people would get that idea.
  3. What makes you say that?
  4. Katich is under-bowled and I don't really understand why. Given that Clarke has a bad back I don't see why we over-bowl him while virtually refusing to throw the ball to Kat. It's worked out that way sans the declaration. We bat fairly deep so we're still in the game...but it'd be an amazing win. We'll need to come up with something better if they decide to try and choke us with an 8-1 off-side field again though. I think Jaques is out for a while, so a more likely replacement would be Marsh or even Rogers. That said, I think that - providing he's fit - Hayden will play versus NZ regardless of what happens this innings. If he fails in that series he may be in trouble, particularly if we somehow lost. It's a shame Oram's going to miss the tour. Given the conditions I think Clark's performed okay. If we had played a decent spinner Clark would have been able to tie up the other end and keep the pressure on even if he wasn't claiming wickets himself. If that's the reason - and I can't see any other explanation - it's a disgrace. It'd be interesting to see who came up with this idea, assuming it was to avoid Ponting being suspended.
  5. Why do you think it would be silly? The MCC owns the ground, not just the stand. If it's with regards MCC members, I don't really understand why MCC members would care. If you go to the rooms there's plenty of time to get back to your seat after you're booted out pre-match, and there'd be ample time to get down there after the final siren too. If it's about the race the players use that seems pretty trivial - other members seem to manage okay without having the players run out next to them.
  6. I'm not sure if that'd be comfortable viewing for many - I'm sure some had a somewhat impeded view at the Dees v Kangaroos game which you suggest was less than half that crowd. With 15K most people would be behind a fair few people in what's mostly standing room only.
  7. Was it Gardner's idea? I seem to remember McNamee spruiking it. I'm not sure about having it in round one - interest should be relatively high at that point - and making it happen twice in a season might be pushing our luck. The MCC seemed pretty adamant it was a once-off. Having it versus an interstate side is good - they are the games we need to try and boost the crowds with something novel like this.
  8. It's something a few others have imagined too - there was a big thread on a boutique stadium at Casey a while back.
  9. Who are the key posters? How do you know they are MCC members? Obviously a few are, but many aren't. It's more likely that there's a correlation between posting lots on a Demon supporter forum and showing a reasonable level of interest on the application IMO. Btw, I agree re: the rubbish comments about country members, but I hardly think that's a reflection of most Demonlanders' views. Didn't a few people pull the poster up re: the comment? It might be with the many MCC-related events. Do you think that Club staff check a membership database before replying? Around the time that Stynes became President he talked up the fact that the MFC had to reach out to people like himself and give them a sense of belonging. I wouldn't say that a young immigrant was part of the MCC Range-Rover stereotype. PS. I agree re: the Club reserved seating areas - MCC/AFL is much better.
  10. Are you sure about that? Is this a direct link (ie. get to the next level of sponsorship and you get xyz feature)? That sounds very odd. I would have thought sponsorship was simply revenue, although even if that was the case I guess you could argue an indirect link there (ie. the Club will only spend x on the site and would spend more if we sold more advertising). Are you sure it's the AFL? I seem to remember reading something on the Mates of Melbourne site that gave me the impression it was Sensis (or some bigpond-affiliated company) that sold the advertising on our site.
  11. For Rivvo's sake I hope it is.
  12. Yes. It was clear that we were in for some tough times post-2006. Do you blame DB for 2007 as well?
  13. Or that the appeal would have been delayed until after the next Test - pretty surprising.
  14. Haha PS. So, even though it was mentioned in the forum footy post-match thread, there's a new topic to let us know nothing new about the one guy that doesn't even read this site? Rollinson_65, you could have at least held off until you'd heard about the news from the Doc
  15. What these guys said.
  16. Did you have any qualms about putting it up here?
  17. I'm not a fan.
  18. Haha, cheers. Not a good look at work.
  19. Hehe I think the email provided may have been [email protected]
  20. You know that you can contact the Club directly, and that when the Club sent out the email re: Demon Summit they in fact requested that people send in their ideas?
  21. I'd be happy for us to pay the fare
  22. What do you mean by that? The only posts I've seen include text and links - no images. It's not a good idea to click random links, and particularly when you're at work etc. Forum moderators have limited access, so - in addition to spam - the main tasks seem to be dealing with user issues such as problems, complaints, rule breaches, merging/moving posts and threads. Given this forum's relatively quite, there's not too much on. I'd guess that there's not terribly much day-to-day admin work involved, but you'd have to ask Nasher. Things like chasing up hosting issues and dealing with forum upgrades are an occassional thing.
  23. Were the poor crowd figures of Hawthorn a few years ago (and St Kilda a little longer back) due to destructive fixturing by the AFL targetted at the Hawks and Saints back then?
  24. Sure, but - it seems - our intention is to re-contract him for one year, rather than to delist him (a la Holland, Yze, White). If we don't agree to terms we will need to delist him, but - it seems - this isn't our preferred option. When you are typing a reply you'll see a variety of buttons and dropdown boxes above the text entry box (above where you're typing). There's a 'quote' button, which puts the [quote] tags around text you have highlighted. These quote tags make the forum software display text within the quote tags in a quote box. # Reply to post # Highlight text you want to quote and then click the 'quote' button (located just above the text box, below the fonts dropdown). Text that is going to be shown as a quote will look like this: [quote]quoted text[/quote] Voila! NB: There are a few other ways to achieve the same aim, but this is probably the easiest.
