  1. Yup. And the point of this thread is not to blame maric but to think how when we had a chance to attack today we had no clue. This a coaching issue as much as a playing issue. And things need to change. This incident happened midway through the first and pretty much sealed it.
  2. Ok so this wasn't meant as a maric bash but more about how indicative that piece of play was for where the team is. Apologies to AM that it just happened to be him. But it was bad and this sort of thing's been happening for years throughout the team. And nothing looks like changing.
  3. On his own, looked slow, possibly no one to kick to: got tackled & gave away the free kick. Indicative of the dees this year, just awful to watch.
  4. I do wonder why play an extra man in defence when we're down by 40. Not going to win doing that are we? That's what you do to stop oppositions scoring (albeit ineffectually in this case) but to win you need to score not just stop the opposition. This is very poor strategy and something Bailey should be held accountable for.
  5. 4th season in- playing as badly as we were at the start of Bailey's reign. Surely something's got to give?
  6. i say we see what else is on offer before we re-sign. if we can get a malthouse then we should act. i feel that we are worse than this time last year (the 2 hawks games are the barometer) which potentially means we are not improving under him.
  7. can we play Jamar, Gawn and Martin in the same team? 2 tall forwards plus Watts / Jurrah? Hey why not? IN: Gawn, Jurrah, Scully, McDonald (if fit) OUT: Bate, Maric, Dunn, Nicholson
  8. anyone know what trengove is getting paid?
  9. i think moreso they smashed us at clearances all night, our young mids were outmuscled by a gun midfield who nearly made the GF last year. not a great night but lets think longer term - we have a young team that can play well but wont against the older midfields ie dogs and pies until next year at least.
  10. I cannot understand how anyone can seriously think Warnock comes in for Jmac. Not only is Warnock not very good, but he plays nothing like Joel Macdonald. Warnock should only be used if 2 of Rivers, Frawley or Garland are injured. If jamc is injured my feeling is they'll bring in either Tapscott or is he's a bit dodgy then Bartram. Dunno if Blease can play the same role as Macdonald - if he can might be worth a try over Bartram. Think they'll give Morton another go he was pretty bad against the tiges but showed a bit against freo IMO (controversial i know)
  11. Haha who's the bambi now? I think Bartram has been dropped because if you're a defender and you turn the ball over 4 times a game, against a decent side, you will get 4 goals kicked against you. And that makes you a massive liability, no matter how good a 'defender' you are. This also goes for Warnock who might be good against a gorilla, but is no good for anything else and will often turn it over. Rivers was once like this but managed to stop doing it too often.. If Bartram can fix that part of his game then he will be back in the team. But at the moment he's behind Strauss and Tapscott for the same position. Regarding Morton - i can only comment on what i saw and that was he ran with the flight into a contest a couple of times and was very dangerous on the wing. Did screw up one kick but apart from that I thought his disposal was good. Ah god OK he probably wasn't in the best but would've come close........
  12. Ah god some of the drivel getting posted this week! Were we watching the same game!?! BARTRAM - turned it over like a pancake. OUT WARNOCK - didn't play and shouldn't because he's a spud. STAYS OUT MORTON - outclassed his opponent all day, set up play, kicked well, was hard at it, one of our best - STAYS IN STRAUSS - had a crack, showing something - STAYS IN JURRAH - another quiet day but always looks on the verge, too talented to play at Casey - STAYS IN OK thats my rant over. In summary: IN Jamar, Tapscott, Gysberts OUT: Bartram, Gawn, Bennell
  13. Wrong - one of our best on Sunday.
  14. agree - sorry was a bit drunk and emotional last night after reading that article! Last night showed what great things could happen if we can keep that team together - here's hoping we can keep em all ie Scully, Watts, Trenners, Mckenzie, Gysberts, Jurrah, Frawley and Morton.
  15. Scully returns to produce a classy display
  16. yep there'll be a massive crowd - need to keep THAT TEAM on the park and really apart from Jamar & grimes & davey (as a forward) we shouldn't touch it. next week will save bailey if we win. we are a good team but it shouldn't take a hiding from the press to generate that sort of performance. NOW IS THE TIME DB the team has to step up or we'll have Paul Roos as our coach next year! I would rather us win with DB but it's up to the players, the coach , Jimmy, the coaching staff, and the supporters! tonight the bombers crowd helped them when they thought they had a sniff - we all need to be there to help the club & become a force again.
  17. Actually most played OK yesterday and we would have won but for 4 actions: Davey squib cost us a goal Juice missing the easiest goal in the world MacDonald playing on Davey 50m penalty although the last 2 only cost us one goal so actually by this rational we still lose by 2 points.. the other part of the day was lost by our poor delivery into the forward line ie bombing it long when we need to kick to a lead..... did it 3 times when we should be passing to Green watts/ jurrah etc.. thats sylvia and Moloney to blame mainly. Also the Chunk Special needs to go - he does that once a week ie takes em on and is tool slow - please no more Chunk!
  18. Biggest difference was we played a forward press for once. it was great - so much pressure on their defense! Please Bailey (and I'm sure you read this site) do not change this! Who cares if we're copying everyone else - if we can continue with this forward defensive pressure then we will make a lot of other teams turn the ball over. Seems we did learn something from west coast eh.
  19. So while this is not really as important as winning games etc, it seems we are now magenta and blue and no one has even noticed. Does anyone care that our jumpers look pink? When people I meet find out I'm a Melbourne supporter they ask me about it and I have to agree they look pink AND there is no uproar or discerning comments on here. Its just weird!! Its funny how sometimesthey look red ie on ads after colour correction has been applied but lets be honest here the jumpers are pink, the club said they'd be fixed and they haven't been so i think we need to apply some people power pressure on this site and get us back to the RED and blue. I mean the socks are right. every other team can get their colours right. wtf is happening?! PS id rather wear pink and win than red and lose but pink + lose = rubbish.
  20. glad to see no one defending him. each week we just don't look ready for the pressure of afl football. time to go DB. thanks for the draft picks.
  21. i am going to be sick. or cry. or both at the same time.
  22. We are looser than a hooker on new years eve....
  23. yeah very worried about dropping petterd for the game - he killed them in this game last year. I reckon he'll play TBH. Also I have a bad feeling about this match like you know whenever everyone expects us to win we lose - ie west coast last year..... sorry to be pessimistic folks but who can blame me right? jones will stay because he is a tough bugger and bailey likes that - grimes another one lucky to keep his spot IMO. would have thought joel mac to get a run against his old side for grimes (who needs to refocus in the 2s) (all a bit too late from me i know)
