how about forming your own POV based on what you see OK = average = half better, half worse. I think that's a fairer assessment than Chippy's massive exaggeration I'm no Byrnes fan but I wish people would use more objectivity rather than going off their preconceived notions about a player -

not a bad spot to be in -
I can't dispute that. It's in my signature. The thing that makes that stat even more worrying is that the scoring shot comparison matches it also. What we are dealing with right now is some sort of statistical anomaly. At the moment it seems like we have a solid defense (as we had last year) we have the ability to win the contested ball (bolstered most prominently by Vince and Tyson) we have the ability to share and retain the ball, and we have a very high rate of converting inside-50s to goals (and this is even without Clark and Dawes). So it looks to me that the only ingredient we are missing is that ability to get inside 50 at a competitive rate.

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-03-02/we-shouldve-defeated-cats-georgiou just a tiny thing.. it is nice to see someone at the club saying 'we should have won' the reality is that most of us are content with a narrow lost with an undermanned side against a top team, but you don't like to see that defeatist attitude coming out of the club, like we have seen on occasions in the last few years -

What's the story with the Russian, I haven't heard anything about him -
fair points clearances 30-31 cont poss 115-118 stoppages 18-19 so almost a complete dead heat in the stats that indicate who was wining the hard ball I guess i'm saying that the reason we had so many more disposals is in part for the reason you suggest (we shared around it a much more indirect manner) but also because we won a hell of a lot more of it than we are used to seeing the MFC do. So I agree with you in that it is a promising stat, but it is somewhat misleading

so..... who can bring me up to speed with the expected ins and outs this week? By my count, last week we were missing our spine , plus viney, out of our best 22 (some other possibilities also like JKH, Strauss, Kent etc): Chip Garland Jamar Dawes Clark Viney what is the latest disinformation from the club on Garland and Clark? -

really liking the look of this kid so far.. didn't realise how good he was against the cats until the second viewing.. one of those players that is just so strong, agile and clever in the congestion, he does all these little things that just win us contests and possession of the ball.. even when he is being gangtackled he seems to get it to our advantage every time.. Roosy would absolutely love him -
Whatever way you cut it though, that stat, in isolation is a very positive one
-
christ I really like that stat

next weeks's post: I'm waiting for the Saints game until I get any sense of confidence. Their were patches of our old self against Hawthorn that we turned around. The Saints game will show us where we are at. Any kind of competitive effort and I might start getting a bit excited. two weeks's post: I'm waiting for the Eagles game until I get any sense of confidence. Not having a go at you specifically just the prevailing attitude around here. Let people get excited if they want.

Byron Pickett would have got 10 weeks for that -
fit is fit if he is cleared by the medical team he is up for selection on his merits like everyone else when did this attitude develop in the footy world that you can be 'fit' but not really, and that is some sort of excuse not to play or play poorly oh that's right the cliche is 'underdone' FCS it is black and white, you can play or you can't

the media as an entity is just a weak, spineless mess with no substance whatsoever. The moment we start winning a few they will be kissing our arses and praising Roos as a deity with just as much ridiculous fervor they have enjoyed kicking us while we were down for so long... and somebody else will have their turn to be the whipping boy. -
I really wonder sometimes if people around here are paying any attention at all How can you suggest he is 'not ready'? He played 13 games last year and we all saw him be totally ready when he was: Ranked 1st among rising stars in Clearances Per Game Ranked 2nd among rising stars in Contested Possessions Per Game Ranked 6th among rising stars in Tackles Per Game Ranked 10th among rising stars in Disposals Per Game This was in a side getting flogged with pretty much just Nathan Jones around to help him in the midfield I agree with you in general but there are some players for which an exception is made and clearly JV is one of them. I think having a bloke who is part of the fabric of the club and plays harder than anyone else makes everyone walk a bit taller too

if you are talking about fitness you did not make that clear if viney is declared fit, there is no way he takes a backseat to michie
