  1. Sure but it’s a new rule and preseason, someone has to stuff up so the others have seen it
  2. Baker in a different role was worth a go but the backline isn’t it. Half forward next (at Casey)
  3. Jordon stiff. Free kick was rubbish and we’ve got away with walking up as we returned the ball for years. Viney is Viney.
  4. Not a great start for the ‘Fritsch is a top 50 player in the game’ fans
  5. I’d give him a run in the last quarter with a few stints in the ruck. Otherwise the first choice guys need 3/4’s of solid work
  6. Who you taking out from Jackson, McDonald and Fritsch?
  7. Laurie and Dunstan sightings
  8. Carlton fans would've been elated to see Juddy back kicking goals at Princes Park.
  9. Yes, but they pretty clearly just slotted players in to open spots to fill 26. Would've been very weird to see him actually play given the tall forwards and rucks are all settled. Unless they were finally going to roll the dice on him down back. Can rule out Bedford too by the sounds of things. So down to 24. One of Baker, Chandler or Turner plays, the other 2 are probably the emergencies who might come on late or for injuries.
  10. It’s very Geelong for their new CEO to have started a scheme that pays women outside the soft cap then to sign up the best available (by a mile) woman. I see works are underway at the stadium but they must nearly be due to announce another phase to the upgrade there.
  11. You’re correct, I was just keeping it brief. Protocols is all I know
  12. We played our best available side last week. 2 players (Lever, Fritsch) were sore and 1 had covid (Viney) We’ll play our best available side now, a week later. 3 players (May, Hibbo, Salem) pulled up sore, 1 is injured. Then in round 1 we’ll pick the best side possible and of course a lot of fringe players will miss out. 4 of the 26 likely won’t play tomorrow unless there’s injuries or need for fresh legs late. May, Salem and likely Hibbo (Smith and Hunt a chance to pinch his spot if he’s not cherry ripe) will come back. Just as Viney, Lever and Fritsch came back this week.
  13. You mean a repeat of last years strategy of picking our best possible 22 without risking injured/sore players? We’ve picked our first choice midfield and forward line, unfortunate a few defenders pulled up sore otherwise we would’ve picked them too.
  14. 5 of our premiership backline out! Tomlinson, Hunt and Smith fill 3 spots. Harmes listed back, but it might be Brayshaw come game day. Weideman, Turner or Baker perhaps the 7th defender.
  15. Our first choice midfield is all fit and healthy. Maybe a surprise he’s not an emergency but hardly a surprise he isn’t in the team.
  16. It’s a back 7. And 5 of them are now out injured. Baker may well get his chance
  17. From the grand final last year Hunt is next in line at half back, then it’s untried kids I guess. Yes there’s options with Petty and Smith and a different make up but we’ll always have 2 and often 3 back flankers. JJ is next in line for a wing. So he’s not next man up in either role. Might as well give him a different look at it. Given he’s never been an endurance freak and more of a burst speed guy half back suits that more.
  18. Have to imagine he'll be an emergency off the extended bench rather than be part of the 22 but I'm still a bit intrigued by Baker. Glad he's at least around the mark. If he's down the pecking order in terms of getting games on the wing I wouldn't mind seeing him used on the flanks at Casey. Got to keep an open mind towards team changes and how we could adapt and encourage fringe players this year.
  19. What about Hibbo, he pulled up early against North.
  20. The reserves are playing v Carlton pregame on Thursday so I assume he’d be training with that group and playing a full game
  21. 1. Do we actually need more members? I don’t like sharing. 2. Are there many people in Casey who really have any interest in Aussie rules. I’m not convinced. Are Richmond really just bringing their outer suburban fans out of hiding. Especially with 3 flags. 3. I’ve maintained that the new training base requires new business opportunities. Or charities. Or charity/business. Richmond’s indigenous centre is a great example. As are Hawthorn’s plans. 4. I’ve had many wacky ideas on how to grow side businesses. Demon dinners - meal kits or ready made meals that resemble afl players diets is my best one IMO. Demon dating - online dating only for demon fans is my favourite. Overall I’d say covid and the lack of a home base has made things tricky. As those things hopefully progress positively we might get more of an idea of the clubs plans.
  22. Is it between games on a Saturday? Because fox have a very limited window there. Or is it after games? In which case 10:30 on a Saturday doesn’t seem like a rating winner. Fox can’t ever seem to produce a decent post game highlights evening show, with a player interview and then recap of the round so far. You’d think that’s the easy and obvious thing to do.
  23. Interstates almost certainly a non starter. And let’s sideline Melbourne for the point of discussion. Hawks: rookie coach, no Carl: as above but worse Saints: I like Ratten but is he even secure? North: I very much like Noble but also no Pies: pretty much the same as North Bombers; maybe, Rutten and Mahoney are a good pair, but they’re also new to AFLW and a one club alignment. Every second online troll is a bombers fan Dogs: maybe, but Bevo’s not everyone’s cup of tea Rich: maybe, love Peggy, Balme and Gale but Hardwick seems volatile Chris Scott is a premiership coach with an incredible winning percentage. And he speaks about the game as well as anyone. Even when he’s making excuses they are thoughtful! And when you hear Daisy commentate she absolutely idolises Joel Selwood.
  24. The article just says 2022. It’s not specific about when. Have to assume it’s late 2022 once this AFL season is over? I’m not sure she should take an assistant coaching job whilst commentating Friday night footy. She’s already compromised by her Melbourne playing career, immediately adding in a coaching job only makes that worse. I also have my doubts about joining a coaching line up in late March/early April. When the players and coaches have busted their backsides for close to 6 months it’s tricky to join in the middle of that. Otherwise I’ve long thought the best pathway for female coaches is to be mens team assistants to learn from the full time professionals. Then go to women’s head coach if they desire. And eventually mens head coach - one day it will happen. If it’s coaching not media Daisy wants then good luck to her. Geelong are a reasonable choice. They’ve landed Eddie Betts and might land Daisy. That’s a coup.
  25. Scanning the QR code these days is only useful as a way of authenticating that the subsequent green tick you’re displaying is legit. The app shows the tick and lists the location. It’s going through that process that authenticates you’re showing something legit. They may well let you just show the green tick on your phone without QR coding if they are feeling lax. But one way or another I’m guessing they’ll be trained to see green ticks and be fairly stringent early in the season.
