Or you can stick around and learn something. Your choice really
-
Might be a swap with Tomlinson. Saints then take Cordy. Dees pick up Lienert. Under that situation I can tolerate Hunter
-
B+ mid who doesn’t fit with our best mids B- wing B+ half back who isn’t tall enough to be an elite interceptor, isn’t quick or disciplined enough to defend and can’t hit targets, can’t play in the same side as Lever Could’ve kept Harmes and Hunt to provide the same output mid/wing and half back who compliment in some ways our best players. Then used the currency of Gus to find a long term midfield answer. Instead it could be Lachie Hunter and Joel Smith, yay
-
Yes, we panicked and overpaid the guy who doesn’t fit in our structure and had guaranteed currency so are now losing 3 best 25 guys who have far less value. I predicted this at the time.
-
Who do you like out of Mitch White, Jimmy Munro or Dunstan to step in to our midfield?
-
Langdon was playing great footy at Freo and just hitting his prime. There’s a myth the demons created him. Much different to trying to turn back the years on Hunter
-
The other difference is Spargo’s a good pressure forward who doesn’t have to kick long. Hunter’s a wing.
-
Can only kick it 30m at a time. Accurate, but doesn’t get over zones
-
Hunter and Grundy! You beauty. Now if you we can just trade for Jack Darling, Tim Kelly and Daniel Talia we’ll be certainties for the 2019 flag.
-
So we go back to what didn’t work in 2018 with slow, on way running mids, and replace Gus/Harmes with JJ on the wing? Then replace our only midfield depth with what exactly? I don’t like this at all. Need an upgrade in if Harmes is out.

Was reassuring after Jason Taylor got a little bit creative trying to sell Bowey and Laurie as first round picks when we took them in the 20's
-
5:35 if you want a good laugh. Lamby not mucking around.
-
Tim Lamb today: "We've got some other options with the talls on our list, so Goody and the coaches are really open to being quite creative with some of the talent we've already got there" Whilst that might mean J. Smith, Howes or even Turner at CHF to me that's as strong as an indication as we've seen of Petty forward 2023.
-
GWS lose Taranto, Hopper and Bruhn and their midfield is now down to Green, Coniglio, Kelly, Whitfield, Ash, Perryman, Callaghan, Ward plus Stone and Angwin as developing players and draft picks. They'll be fine, they can now stock up on forwards and backs which need work. 19's a stretch for sure. I'd love to see 16, but the bigger issue is spreading the talent around.
-
Depends on what order we want to do things. If we’re confident we can eventually shuffle picks around we might accept the Jackson deal early.
-
The following top 10 picks I think are more gettable than the others: Pick 5: currently at Adelaide, on the way to GC who seem keen to spread their list with future picks Pick 7: at GC, on the way with Bowes, possibly open to Ess or Geel downgrades. Bombers need more picks, Geel could use more to get trades done Pick 8: at Port, possibly on the way to North who could do better with multiple picks to restock their list Pick 9: St Kilda, think they’ll value multiple picks to restock their youth With 3 of those picks set to move hands I don’t think a Jackson deal will be quick if we want to make sure a top 10 pick comes with it

Knightmare not the best or worst, but surprised he doesn’t get more data on testing times and insight from clubs

I posted the clips so I feel a bit responsible for them. Please note they aren’t highlights but are game compilations, there’s an important difference. Tsatas’ best highlights are no doubt incredible. He’s a big talent. A full game clip when he’s had an interrupted year won’t be nearly as pretty. And his second half was very strong. I’m not in a position to say whether he’s going to be a star or not I just don’t think he’s the type of player that you trade up big time for. If we get pick 9 he looks a good option, if we trade the farm for pick 5 or so, not so much. So far I’ve only seen 2 of the top prospects (apart from Ashcroft) who id put in that category. One is clearly Cadman because if he’s really good he’ll be super valuable and rare. The other, I’m waiting for a thread on.
-
Spot on. And given his forward pressure is awful Geelong will probably make him work for a game on the wing or half back before unleashing him as a goal kicker anyway. Big loss for the Pies, but they’re losing guys who aren’t in their 22, and McStay fills a far more important need. Ash Jonson is a better version of Henry and teams generally down play 2 medium goal kickers. And the other 3 they’re bringing in will cover gaps as Howe, Pendles and Sidebottom age out. All very cheap and capable, smart recruiting.
-
Dogs taking Liam Jones might indicate they’d get Lobb in a year. If their young talls still aren’t ready. Personally can’t see Lobb taking no cash or Freo taking nothing for him. We could offer Freo one of our not very good talls if they’re so desperate for an ageing tall who doesn’t want to be there.

A draft profile of a top 5 pick who can’t get a game doesn’t interest me. A lot of recruiters had some doubts on Dow and given his athleticism and ability to kick goals from the midfield that tells you something is missing. Nibbler’s special with his off the ball running. JJ’s incredibly coachable and hard working, he’s quickly adapted to the positioning on the wing. Gus has flaws on the wing but a lot of strengths too. Not sure we can just list off our unfashionable players and assume others can do what they do. Certainly would be happy to have Dow as competition for spots. I’m just not sure he’ll be a match. Last I heard he was linked to the Crows where he’d get a lot of opportunity.
-
Would like him if he’s cheap but I think he’d still command a little cash, and I don’t think he’d want to leave Carlton only to be stuck behind our mids. Whilst his pace would be something different the biggest issue with his game is he’s a very ‘see ball get ball’ player without smarts. That means he struggles on the wing or forward. He gets lost and doesn’t defend. We aren’t shifting our main mids out of the way to let Dow play an attacking on ball role. And I don’t think he’ll develop as a player unless he’s given the chance to do that.
-
North very much may look at trading pick 8 if the accept it. Makes more sense for them than Port in some ways. They’ll have pick 2 for an elite talent to replace JHF, they can slide 8 back for a pair of good picks including banking another future pick. Giving they’re getting Logue and Tucker this year they won’t want to bring in too many kids, especially if Clarko’s on a years ban. They probably need to replace some recruiting staff too, having too many high picks this year isn’t a good idea for them.
-
The most important thing to drop young players for and protect them from is cutting corners. He was caught out cutting recovery and earlier sneaking home. They did a lot of bad stuff, gave him easy games, put him in an awful position (half forward in a [censored] team), but he deserved getting dropped.

If we’re desperately seeking an outside mid I think Ollie Holands is a nicer kick and cleaner through the contest
