  1. We can get 4 time All Aus Robbie Gray for a pick in the 80’s
  2. In 2016
  3. Franky Evans and probably Esava are both on their way out. I don’t think a couple of extra games would’ve kept Toby. Opportunity is one thing, cash is the other and GWS should be offering more of both. I think we should’ve rested our injured players because they were injured. And one of the reasons we didn’t was our coaches lacked faith in them. Now we’ve lost 2 of our better ones it’s a worry.
  4. My point is 3rd rounders and later, there’s no point splitting between just 3rd rounders and excluding rookies. Either way, Miers and Kolo plus 5 rookies I named above = 7 in their flag side. More when you add Blicavs, Bews and O’Connor. We had Harmes and he’s the only one still on the list who’s played regular footy now Hunt is gone. I don’t know why this is confrontational. Late picks are all low success dice rolls but we keep striking out.
  5. Maybe we wouldn't have kept patience with Guthrie, but I don't buy that we needed Filipovic. We had Gawn, Spencer and a break in case of necessary 3rd ruck in Pedersen on the list, plus Mitch King as a developing prospect. We're up to 5 years of Oskar Baker, who was 19 when drafted, on the list with very little return. And on the matter if you don't want to accept Stengle which I get, then go with Gryan Miers over Oskar Baker in the same draft. Gryan's played 80 at the Cats, he would've got at least 40. 30+ in 19/20 and 10+ this year even if our 2021 guys are better. At the end of the day I'm not expecting us to draft and develop late picks as well as the Cats. Wells is a master of finding talent. And they get inside knowledge to local players - Henry, Miers and Atkins 3 of them. Plus they've had a heap of late picks due to having so few early ones and that allows them to churn through them. My issue is we're at 0 late picks developed and there's absolutely been room to get guys some games if they were good enough. Goodwin isn't coaching for his job like a young coach in a rebuild desperate to play the top 10 picks, he can pick who he chooses and he just hasn't been compelled to choose anyone. The only non early pick that he chooses somewhat consistently is Joel Smith! It might also be a resources thing. JT and co probably focus on the early picks. We might need to change out personnel or invest more in the depth of our recruiting department.
  6. I don’t think we were running out of legs
  7. Really good size and athlete and looks confident in the air. Positioning, disposal and decision making all look good enough, even if she’s not quite there yet it’s close
  8. Duff man!
  9. Since when do you get to take a down field that goes out on the full from the pocket?
  10. She moved in to the tackle/to ground rather than disposing of it. It’s a vibe thing. Still an awful decisions
  11. It was, but she so consistently tries to take on tacklers and drops her head, sometimes the umps are going to punish it
  12. That was a gorgeous passage of play until the Bannon dropped mark. One the best I’ve ever seen from the girls

    Vikings, Browns, Bills
  14. Another awful Birch effort gives up a goal. Mids need to lift big time here
  15. Geelong. Henry - A combination of B Brown/Melk with Petty forward this year, Tomlinson and Oscar in 20/21 or this year Lever take your pick Close - ANB this year, various half forwards in years prior Atkins - Sparrow, Vanders, Nath Jones, Dunstan Zuthrie - Might’ve struggled to get many games until this year but Rivers (2022 version) Stengle (hasn’t got to 50 Geelong games yet) - Spargo this year
  16. 3rd round or latter, none have played 50 games or left with genuine trade currency. Bedford played 10 games in 4 years. Yes, he’ll probably turn pick 75 in to pick 45-50ish if it’s a straight up trade. Whilst not a fail when we never nail picks in that range that’s not a success, just a lateral move.
  17. Remember we have to combine every 3rd round or later pick we get in to 2nd rounds or better because the so called Architect hasn’t nailed a 3rd round pick in the best part of a decade.
  18. Looks a wing or inside/outside midfielder which I think is a position we need - whether we need it enough to go up and get him or if he falls to us I’m not sure. Good frame that should fill out. Think there’s some questions about his contested game, power and I think how his disposal holds up if his first option gets taken away. For instance in this first game as the game goes on he has some lovely disposals but when it’s hot early he’s a bit messy. Absolutely racks it up and uses it with ease on the wing in this NAB league game, but there’s a few shaky moments mixed in as well.
  19. 4 smalls was never going to cut it. Worth trying but we needed at least Melk as a medium. The one thing we never tried with Toby at afl level was 5 minute bursts per quarter on ball. His defensive speed and burst form the centre are both potential assets. As a junior he used to swap between forward pocket and centre bounces at Dandy and it wasn’t something I’ve seen a lot before.
  20. I don’t want to be mean to him but I guess you could say he’s very slow?
  21. I’d be shocked if we didn’t offer Hunt at least 1 and most likely a 2 year deal on depth player money. At a minimum the contract Smith signed and likely more. It’s not like we’ve delisted him. His management team probably went and got the best offer available and said to the Dees get within a reasonable amount of this and I’ll stay. If we didn’t up our offer or even pulled the offer knowing we couldn’t get anywhere near his market value then that counts as ‘pushing’ him. Doesn’t mean we didn’t want him on the list, just not at the salary spot he could demand.
  22. Laurie’s not a small forward though, he’s a midfielder. Too slow to be classed as a forward. He’ll be a high half forward at afl level. But he has to start playing full time midfield at Casey from round 1 next year or we should’ve just delisted him.
  23. Sad to lose him because there’s still some upside to his game but it’s hard to keep guys who can’t get regular game time. He makes a lot of sense for GWS
  24. Sorry I should’ve said in my personal opinion. Take out factors like team success, crowds, post footy media careers and family and go by what the cities have to offer - anonymity, climate, activities, beaches - I’ll take Sydney any day. As long as you can afford the $6 lattes.
  25. He’d become the first GWS player to live in Western Sydney if he did. Players leave GWS for generic go home factor, cash and opportunity. Sydney (either club) is still the best city to be an AFL player if you have a good career
