  1. Which compo pick did Adelaide receive for Davis? And which one of ours did we offer? GWS probably rate Adelaide's compo picks higher than ours, because (you would hope) we will continue to finish higher than them on the ladder, meaning our compo picks woll be later in the draft than the Adelaide one.
  2. I find it disturbing that my comment was open to interpretation. I sincerely feel sorry for nutbean, if you read something other than what was intended. In my view, having a dip and making an offer is the same thing. It's just the size of the splash that varies.
  3. What is wrong with saying that we had a dip?
  4. Sorry nutbean, what was it that I actually wrote?
  5. We had a dip... http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/suns-land-omeara-crows-in-box-seat-for-crouch-20111012-1lkew.html Pic 12 & a compo for Pick 2 in the MD and a top 25 pick.
  6. Regardless of how shallow the draft is this year, the Scum Jnr have an absolute stranglehold on it now don't they? We would be better off trying to offload pick 12 and get a decent midfielder. I'm not saying we will get a star, but if we can get someone in their early 20's, that would easily be in our best 18, you'd have to consider it. Hopefully what Harrington said yesterday (or MOnday - can't remember), about the people they have been speaking to for a few months, with a bit of luck one of them gets landed.
  7. One would think pick 10 would've been used, which means GW$ have got picks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11. A total of 9 picks inside the top 11. Wowee.
  8. Would love to know what Adelaide paid for pick 2 in the MD.
  9. GWS = The new Collingwood Football Club. The team that every other team hates.
  10. If our coach doesn't act on it, he's not a required player at the MFC.
  11. Let's not forget that O'Meara wouldn't be a lock in for Pick 1 for the ND in 2012. If the GC win less than 5 this year, they will get a priority pick next year, so in essence, have pick 1 in the draft (meaning they will get the true number 1). A lot of the hype for O'Meara and Crouch is because they are the best available in the mini draft. If there were no such beast, and both boys were in the 2012 National Draft, they will obviously be taken high, but not necissarily number 1.
  12. The first part of it is possible (not remembering what compo picks they have). It's bloody hard to work with the compo picks. One we got for "the [censored]" is straight after our first pick (when we choose to activate it), so hypothetically if it were this year, it would be worth pick 13. Next year, if we finish finish 13th again, that same pick would be worth pick 7. An amazing difference.
  13. I believe and support all decisions the MFC make Old55. Some call it fence sitting, some call it keeping my head up my ar$e, I call it supporting my Club! Like you, I haven't seen Lisle, and if we picked him up, obviously we see something in him and I'm going to support that. And, if we don't pick him up, it means the CLub didn't see enough in him and I'll be grateful that we dodge a bullet!
  14. Maybe we gave traded Warnock and Pick 12 to the Gold Coast, in exchange for one of their comp picks, which we have on traded with one of our compo picks to the GWS for Pick 1 in the mini draft.
  15. I'd never seen Bailey coach, and because we hired him I thought that meant we rated him, and becuase of that, I was very happy too.
  16. Wat do you think we SHOULD get? Don't get it confused with what you WANT!
  17. You would imagine that Watts will take the best defender. I still have great belief that he will develop in to our best forward, and will play more time in the F50 than out of it. That said, I would expect Martin to take the 2nd defender, resting ruck will get the 3rd, ehich means Jurrah gets the 4th. However, if you don't believe Martin gets the 2nd best, from a Demons point of view I'm stoked with that! We'll use the Geelong defence as a math-up. Watts v Taylor, Scarlett v Martin, Jamar/Gawn v Lonergan. I'd be isolating Lonergan in the goal square if that were the case. I have no bloody idea when our time will be! You would think given the teams above us, and where we are at, it would be minimum 2014. BUT...if we can get that midfield sorted, and I have no doubt they will be targeting someone in trade week, there's nothing to say that we can't do a 2008-Hawthorn in 2013. Our backline is fine, and I believe we have the cattle for our forward line (especially when I'm not taking Cook, Fitzpatrick or even Troy Davis in to consideration). I think Howe or Petterd will fight for that HFF role for a long time. Howe has that Stevie J X-factor that I'm not sure if Petterd has, but, as we've seen, Petterd can kick bags against weaker defenders.
  18. My premiership forward line would look like this; HF - Jurrah Watts Tapscott F - Gawn Martin Aussie/Davey/Jetta * Petterd and Howe would be on the bench and would rotate HFF as Tappy rotates through the guts. * I still believe Aussie can become the small forward we need, but time's ticking sorry.
  19. Where our disagreement is hard is that you can't see Martin being a KPF, and I can. While you state that he is a ruckman, and yes, he played his best footy there this year, that was becuase he was allowed continuity in one role when Jamar went down. When he was rested up forward, he did excatly what I'm crying out for our Full Forward to do - he made contests and brought the ball to the ground. I'd love to see him play all season a Full Forward who can go in to the ruck if required. Have a KPI on him where he has to kick 20-30 goals for the year, and be directly involved in another 20 goals from our crumbers roving off his packs. I have no doubt whatsoever that Martin would certainly fulfil that role, and mean we have he and Watts as our KPFs, with Jamar & Gawn rotating through their. It would stretch a lot of teams, especially considering sides are starting to put a bit more time in to Watts - there were a number of games this year where he had the oppositions best or 2nd best defender. Imagine Jurrah with the oppositions 4th defender. That's what he'd get if we had Watts, Martin and resting Jamar/Gawn in our forward line. Bloody hell we need to get Aussie right don't we?!
  20. Just dobbed in my 9 week old (still in the factory!). Geez, the Mrs will love it when I receive that in the post (she barracks for Geelong!).
  21. Stef Martin/Mark Jamar/Max Gawn? I'm hearing hte cries now - "we can't play all 3". Tell me how many rucks/pinch hitters did Collingwood have in their premiership 2 years ago, and Geelong this year? To say we need a power forward is absolute rubbish. We just need to look at how the best teams operate with the amount of big guys they have, and we'll be fine. Lisle may be behind Franklin, then Roughy, then Hale, but how many games did Roughy miss this year due to his injury, and how many did Lisle end up playing? He had ample opportunity to make the senior side, therefore, I would offer a 3rd rounder only, and if not, our 2nd rounder if they included their 2nd rounder too. Nothing more.
  22. Thanks Jordie. My point is that almost every player has flaws in their game, heck, even Chris Judd is only around the 73% efficiency or something. People's expectation of having all these players on our list with elite everything is totally unrealistic. No team has had it, and I'm doubtful that any will (especially with the game played at the pace it is). Where we need to tidy things up is making sure that of the 75% of our efficient disposals are dangerous. This can be done. Toovey is a very good footballer, but the only reason I wouldn't pick him up would be because of his price tag. His disposal, while not 100% efficient, is not an issue. But, I feel that way about Jones, and to some extent Bartram, which is against what is written in teh Code of Conduct for this site!
  23. Don't know if GC will pay Pick 4 for Crouch. We're not out of it by a long shot.
  24. Can someone please tell me which players in the AFL have "elite" disposal, that run at 90% efficiency or better. And of all these players that have elite disposal, which of them are up for a potential trade. Every bloody player mentioned as a trade possibility has disposal concerns. Surely the AFL can't be full of blokes that can't kick or handball???!!! Or is it that maybe the 70-75% efficiency rate is quite the standard (which mean a lot of pur blokes, including Jones and Bartram, are well within industry standard?).
  25. Well RR, you're obviously agaisnt it, and I'm obviously for it. Unfortunately for you the AFL are also for it, and reality is, it doesn't matter a stuff what you think, it wont change in the immediate future. I'd like to know what the players actually think. Maybe they see it as a great way to start some form of training, and get the jump on the "match fitness" that you don't get in the gym. Neeld has made it public that as of 31st Ocotober, the players are expected to start training hard. This may be a better way to get in some acceptable condition as opposed to running laps of the Tan.
