  1. Used to love Schwarz, but this year he has shown some true colours in my view. He is NOT Melbourne, he is no longer a part of the Melbourne Football Club. He is a member of the media circus. All year he has been critical with how things are down at the Club. But, unlike Lyon, he has decided that it's easier to kick a Club while it's down, rather than get in there and help get things back on track. For all we did for him as a player, he really has $hit in our faces since leaving.
  2. Ah, an expected reply from the arrogant, keyboard hero himself. So, in your view, we sit back and wait to see who enters the marketplace? I'll give you a bit of a hint B59, and if I have worked this out with my minimal intellect, it must be pretty obvious. Chances are, we are taking Matt Warnock, Matt Bate and perhaps Morton to the trade table. We are not taking Trengove, Watts or Frawley. Do you see the common theme here? We are getting rid of players who are no good, just like what most other Clubs do at this time of year. But, when there is a bit bigger fish being offered, we would need to have some pretty decent draft picks, which, perhaps our number 10 selection for this year might get something, but the compenation from Scully will get us frig all. So, what's the alternative? We need to target an out-of-contract star from another team, which I'm sure you will agree with. So, if you think we have all this extra money that we saved by $cully leaving, and we can use this during trade week, what player do you want, and what are you going to offer? Not too difficult to answer is it? Especially for such an intelligent man like yourself.
  3. I agree with what you are saying PSD, but this is the bit that a lot of supporters are saying, but I just can't understand it. To win a premiership, you need stars of the game. We don't really have any at the moment, we have a few potential ones, and when we should expect our window to be open, Scully would've fit that mould. I understnad that we need players playing for the jumper, but gee, we also need quality players. I don't think Judd plays for the jumper.
  4. Ok genius, start naming names - who are we going to target and what are we going to offer?
  5. I trusted the words of a kid that plays for my club, so shoot me. B59, your arrogance is sickening. So what if you could see the writing on the wall and chose to disbelive, as opposed to some of us who chose to believe. What do you achieve by getting this right? What does the Club achieve by $cully leaving? Are we better off without him? Anyone that says we are are kidding themselves. We have lost our Number 1 draft pick after 2 seasons, a pick that we "earned" from finishing on the bottom for 2 years in a row. A player that, in the year he was drafted, was judged the best young talent in Australia. A player that many believe will be the next superstar, which time will tell if this is correct. And in return, we are looking at a pick 15 and 25 or something? You think that's a win for the proud Melbourne Football Club? Do you now think we are better off?
  6. The playing group should not accept this. It is not just one game next season that they will need to make a stand, it is seasons to come. He did the best thing for himself, which in turn, has hurt the Melbourne Football Club, MY football club. The current playing group MUST draw this "line" in the sand. While the sky is still well above us, and will be in the same spot tomorrow, this is a very dark day for the Melbourne Football Club. We need to get Ross Lyon or Mick Malthouse, otherwise I strongly believe we will hit rock bottom for the next decade.
  7. The Club just announced it on Twitter. Will respond later in the day. I'm shattered.
  8. I think that 30+ rule was a Bailey idea (could be totally incorrect), but I wouldn't be surprised if this was no longer around due to the backlash from our dealings with Junior, etc last year. And, IF we can get Lyon or Malthouse, they have history of picking up mature-aged recruits. If I made the big decisions, I'd be offering Green 2 years, no hesitation. Next year, it's going to be another tough year - we will need his experience again (that's frightening isn't it!!!???). The year after, 2013, all of a sudden he may not be required to play "that" role, as hopefully others underneath him have stepped right up. I think a 2013, 32 year old Brad Green, playing forward pocket with a better, more developed midfield will be quite a handy option. We need Green to step up next year. Reality is, we NEED him.
  9. Sorry Old Dee - didn't check the %. There is still a lot of support for Moloney, not quite as much as JT, but daylight between the next favoured. I'm sure the new coach will have his own ideas, but I can't see at least Moloney not being in it (wipes out our 23 and under rule). Even if we get a current assistant coach (ie Sanderson), most out there will be coming from successful clubs that all have that even spread of young and mature. Where we stuffed up this season is bascially putting our senior players in, which was confused with senior leaders. While 2011 wont really support my case, I still have confidence in Moloney and Green as being our senior leaders. My thoughts on Green's contract status - he will accept a 2 year deal. The difference between he and Cam Bruce is that Green is captain and I believe he will seek redemption for a poor season. Getting rid of Green is a total knee-jerk reaction. I have to ask - what is on hold? We have offered Scully a new contract, we offered Syliva a new contract, and wasn't there an article saying we were getting closer with Martin and Green? I don't think the footy club shuts down just because we don't have a coach...
  10. Of the leadership group that I proposed, I have included (left in) the likely top 2 in our B&F, so form-wise they didn't have a bad year, and I would expect most at the Club say that Moloney and Jones' leaderhsip wasn't that bad either. Moloney was made to re-earn his spot after his early year incident, and from all reports, he did it very well. I've included Frawley (23 years old), Watts (20), Trengove (20) and Jones (currently 23). 4 out of 6 that meet your criteria, with 2 senior players, I think it's a terrific spread. If 2012 is like 2011 for Green, then he will be replaced by the next Under 23 that puts his hand up like Watts and Trengove did this year. I'll put it this way, what happens to the player in the "Under 23 only" leadeership group that has a bad year next year? Hopefully it wont happen, but what if Trengove (in his 3rd season) can't shake the tags that he is likely to get each week and has a crappy season? We have seen our team lacking in experienced players, but the handful that we have, we want to get rid of all of them out of the leadership group. We want to demote our most senior player, even after the uproar of how we treated our senior players in 2010? It's an opinion-based arguement, but I just can't see the logic of stripping all over 23's of their leadership title, especially when a majority on here hope that Moloney will be the next skipper?
  11. Ha ha, thanks CJJ, but, I can't really remember the last time any Club made massive wholesale changes to their leadership group, especially in the way some people are suggesting we should. The main change is getting rid of 2 Vice Captains, and totally removing both those guys from the leadership group. Davey doesn't handle the extra responsibility of an officail title, he should be left as the indig' leader and that's it. Rivers' on-field leadership, in my view, was more disappointing than anyone this year. In a number of games, his body language was a disgrace. The game against Collingwood topped it off for me - he put the white flag up (more than what some claim Davey did in Round 2), was getting a hiding so he ran off the ground. Pathetic. To crucify Green through all this is understandble, but I just don't think is the right move. In 2010, his leadership qualities were obvious, and as such, was voted by his peers as the next leader of the Club. BG is a very proud footballer, who would be just as disappointed as the rest of us with his efforts in 2011. It would be expected that he does a lot of leadership work over the summer, and we get to see the Green of 2010 taking the field next season. The other guy I left out of the leadership group is Grimes. The amount that he gets pumped up in here is scary. From all reports, he has leadership qualities that not many have, but FFS, I just want to see him play footy for the time being. My view is by leaving Grimes out makes some statement of "work your ass off, get your body right, play consistent footy, and the seat will be there for you". At the moment, he is bloody near getting a free ride which is the attitude that I want changed at this footy club.
  12. It's just a game they play at family reunions - they didn't realise it actually had a name... Sorry SA readers, couldn't help myself!
  13. So am I correct in assuming you are hinting that the most recent news article, where it is bascially saying that Scully hasn't signed with GWS, you are not agreeing with that, because you still believe all the other articles saying that he has signed, even though the man himself says he hasn't? Sorry if I'm misreading your post.

  15. The amazing part - Brendan Fevola 191cm...
  16. Cancel the watch part, just let nature do what's best. So, should we barrack like hell for the Swans this week? MFC call a presser next Wednesday to announce Ross LYon as coach and Scully hass signed a 4 year deal.
  17. Gold!
  18. The original article from Robinson and Ralph had a bad smell to it in my opinion. For the umpteenth time in this saga, it was full of absolutely nothing, other than Sheedy trying to create more exposure for his brand (which is what he is getting paid to do), and journo's stupidly taking the bait and running with it. There was absolutely no proof that Scully was going to "check out the facilities", and the only one that was claimed to advise him to do so was Sheedy himself! Now we have some words in the press conference from their CEO that are starting to confirm what Tom has been telling us all year. Is their CEO lying? Who knows. But going by the quotes in the SMH, I am growing with confidence by the hour. But I still think one thing is certain, Tom hasn't made up his mind. Credit to the kid if he walks away from what the GWS are offering, and unless it is made public from the MFC what it actually is that we are paying him, it is quite unfair to suggest that we are paying him way over the odds. What was Trengove's recent contract extension worth?
  19. It's a bit like betting Red or Black on roulette, until bloody 0 Green comes up! I'm 98% sure that 100% of the people on this site have absolutely no idea if he is staying or going.
  20. What is YOUR definition of "people close to the Club"? Are they people that would any inside knowledge of what is going on with Tom? Becuase how I see it, unless the people that are close to the Club are in fact Tom Scully himself, or his parents, or his actual manager, I would think they would have absolutely no idea. Schwarz is close to the Club, he's fairly sure (about 98% that is), perhaps he is your source.
  21. Which category do you fit in to Sue - it will help me evaluate your future posts! I'm in the last category fwiw.
  22. Cue HG45's comment regarding the above post...
  23. I just wonder what a new year, a new coach, and an extensive review of what went wrong will change Brad's attitude next year. I can see where you're coming from, and I have at times wondered if that (young leadership group/captain) is the best option. But I can't help but think that we still need an experienced player at the helm for at least one more season, and have no doubt Greeny will improve significantly as a captain next year. But, we can only see what happens out on the field in terms of leadership - if only we knew what happened behind the scenes.
  24. You can speak for me too Nutbean. I've been of that opinion all season.
  25. I wonder if GWS have actually put a deadline on it? Sheedy would know the longer he goes un-signed, that the $$$ may not have been the deal-breaker that they thought, so all of a sudden he's telling him to come and look at our facilities, and that in 10 years blah blah. Could it be a late attempt to get him to sign? If it doesn't, it could free up more money to throw at someone else. Time's ticking for GWS - if the move hasn't been anounced by this time next week, I think there will be a lot of red faces in the media circles, as well as a majority of posters here.
