  1. getting over the luke ball debate... at the end of the day we couldn't get him to the club for an interview. has the club even done a medical on him? any player that gold coast don't want the following year is going to be pretty dirty cheap...they will be 25 going 26....say we take a decent one next year.
  2. cough mooney is a very average forward who gets the ball delivered laces out in front everytime by elite midfield....Tomahawk is ok...but hasn't really lived up to what they thought he would. Steve johnson played 16 games and kicked 39 goals....VS cam mooney 21 games and 41...that's your full forward vs goal sneak Mattew Lloyd would have kicked 100 plus a season at the cats...
  3. Apart from who we draft,,,i'll be interested to hear the reasons how we choose pick #1 over pick #2...these boys are both superstars...i think whoever goes number 1 isn't going to feel the pressure as much as jack did. don't know any players but i'll consider the following: 1 - Trengove 2 - Scully 11 - best available KPP 18 - best available KPP 34- best available 50 - best available psd - thorp. pretty pumped about this draft. it's been a bloody long year!
  4. richo seems like a good bloke but can't kick for [censored]
  5. Do we only get the one pick in the in the PSD?
  6. getting luke ball is not the culture i want at the club...pick a young kid who can see that coming to us now..working hard is going to equal sucess...luke ball is bitter with the saints, is at the cross roads of his career,,,clearly to emtional to make a rational decision about his future...given we could have paid him a large amount of money. and has no confidence in his body. personally i feel he doesn't want to be apart of rebuilding phase at any club. just fit straight into the pies because they have the football department to keep his body going longer than melbs. i say front load a few more contracts and pickup kids,,,who are best availble to fill some holes. even though gold coast will be around....hopefully we could snag someone who doesn't want to leave melb/come to melbourne next year. when do we let go of ball?
  7. are people saying butcher will be gone before 11...so we should take Talia @ 11 & carlisle @ 18...??? never seen any of em play..but from what i've read....i'd be happy with trengove, scully, butcher & carlisle.
  8. lets roll the dice on two new players on the main list and rookie some guys who need a kickup the bum.
  9. i think melbourne have taken the approach of putting the best available players on the 'rookie list'...that being meeesen and newton...doesn't matter we need a key forward...Newton is best available to go on the rookie list. In my opinion..
  10. whats the chances Hawks (or somebody looking for a ruckman) could pickup meesen? or is his injury that bad...
  11. HI FIVE DEMONLAND!!! everyone is a winner here. i like the fact we can get two new players on contract for another two years...and meesen and newton get another year to prove themselves...
  12. maybe no players want to do the travel to casey
  13. strauss,,,keep this stuff coming! he's last years 3rd pick at 19,,,i believe
  14. my earlier answer to this thread were spot on....every post after it is a watste of time
  15. you could say LJ is a star...but some stars shine brighter than others. ie., davey vs LJ...davey is a shining star compared with LJ! LJ being just star...and you would say Ablett is a super star!
  16. i've read much your talking on miller and watts,,,in other posts...jack watts is a number 1 draft pick,,,jack seems like the kinda guy who likes to stand on his own two feet. jack is not going to need protecting.
  17. don't underestimate the three games watts played this year,,,three games would give him a taste. and hopefully a full preseason will give him confidence.
  18. Melbourne have appointed Scott West as fulltime midfield coach...we now have two full time midfield coaches.... http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...37/default.aspx i can't help but read into this...good move,,,more guideance for scully and trengove
  19. i don't think it's important what he's going to cost the club a year,,,but rather we can get him for nothing via the PSD. if he of course chooses. I think of it this way...we get luke ball and pick 11 for trading brock mclean....so i think that's a great deal for us. brock would probably be worth 400k,,,ball 500k...he's probably going to want 4yrs on 550k...at a bad guess.
  20. improbable Rhino ---- but it would be good if it was true,,,then we'd have a lot of fantastic players to choose from for captain
  21. i agree on not getting excited...but melbourne has pick 1 in the psd and plenty of room in the salary cap. so i'm still hopeful. on paper melbourne can offer everything he wants. Game time, money, contract length, potential captain... at the end of the day...my melbourne membership would have more value this year if Ball was at the MFC.
  22. i'm all for scully and trengove,,,1 & 2,,,it will be debated for a long time who should have been number 1. i'm just saying u need to watch the whole group to know wat a pick 11 and pick 18 could be...and how it could change if something random happens in the draft.
  23. he's bullshittin',,,you would need to review all tapes and watch as many games as u can. that's his job.. how could u spend time picking 11 and 18 if you couldn't rank them against 1 & 2? ie.., you'd need to know all the numbers through to 18...to know how to draft from 1 - to - 18...i would think...
  24. ok,,,according to this link...we are meeting wit ball next week. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/demo...f-1225791493885 so we need to brain storm some suitable presentations to give ball, first we should rename this thread...next we need to come up with some reasons why he should come to melbourne... lets get our thinking caps on! ha
  25. some progress with ball...we are meeting with him next week http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/demo...f-1225791493885
