Our backline is the key and once we get that right we will fly. No one expected Hibberd, Hunt and Lever to have bad starts. We all know they have the talent and once Frost comes in the whole dynamic will change.

6.Hogan 5.Garlett 4.Oliver 3.Petracca 2.Jones 1.Melksham

Nothing surer than Frost coming in. Our backline desperately needs rebalance to allow Lever to intercept and we need insurance for Ben Brown. Maybe for Wagner. Take your pic on who comes in for Bugg out of Hannan, Stretch or Brayshaw. Kent needs another run in the magoos

26 point win in greasy conditions on their turf? Ill take that any day of the week. Hogan 5 and Jeffy 4? In the 8? Plenty of improvement to come with Viney , McDonald, Brayshaw, Hannan and Frost who could be possibly injected into the side, and a first class return by the forgotten Kent. We will get better, just needed a win today.

No it was just a typo which I just fixed lol. My own selections , but just the way I think they will roll.

Out Hannan, Maynard, Wagner In Tyson , Brayshaw , Frost. Frost to give us another big body option down back and free up Lever

Are we the worst marking team in the league?

This is where we really miss TMac -
Goodys record at the G wouldn’t be too good. So much for home ground advantage
-
Bugg is also very smart near goal

We still don’t have any brutes in the backline, maybe Petty, Kielty or Frost can be that person as we really were out bodied in a lot of marketing contests . Lever played a lot one in one and he looked like a skinny 12 year old kid to me. -
No concern here . Apart from the centre bounces, yesterday’s game was played mostly in the air. There was hardly any ground ball to pounce upon for our small forwards, we constantly got outmarked, or players like Fritsch Hogan or Pedersen marked it. All part of Geelong plan to keep our small forwards out of the game, which is why Garlett, Melksham and Hannan had poor games. Just limited opportunity , and bombing it in long and high didn’t help. We couldn’t get any goals out the back like we usually do. Really good game plan by Geelong

Do you mostly have all your own teeth?

I’ve seen a lot of players come and go over the last 50 years and believe me when I say Young Fritsch has star qualities.

I thought Geelong did a great job in making our dangerous smalls in Garlett, Melksham, ANB and Hannan almost redundant in the game by marking everything that came their way.
-
Salem didn’t get a touch in the second half after his knock, and was playing well before that. We missed his pin point passing when we started to get more of it in the second half
-
In the end it was a tale of two defenses. Ours was very poor and theirs was very good.
-
In hindsight, if we aren’t playing Tyson and Salem is just ok, we could’ve had Josh Kelly.
-
Gee the back line was poor. I thought Lever was supposed to be an intercept marker? Spent most if the game as a one on one full back and continuously got out bodied. Hibberd also much quieter than usual.
-
You reckon shills aren’t important? Wattsy would’ve been handy wouldn’t he? I just don’t know what Goodys doing with this team. Leaves out high possession winners in Tyson and Brayshaw and includes plodders in Maynard and Wagner . Lever looked like a skinny 12 year old. We would’ve lost that by ten goals had Danger played
-
We seemed very sluggish today and skills were poor. Still have a long way to go.
-
Brayshaw and Tyson would have given us more zip
-
Soft and slow the usual Melbourne. Believing their own press
-
Lewis makes me angry, it’s like he doesn’t care

Do we have a backline?
