Time to go Goody?
Come on, guaranteed when we're 5 goals down with 10 minutes left he'll shift Turner to the forward line 🙄

Time to start a rebuild?
Agree although I remember hearing we were after Amon, we just haven't identified the right players to bring in.

PODCAST: Rd 19 vs Carlton
Great pod guys, Andy I agree with your sentiments wholeheartedly re the coaching situation. Binman makes some good points about stability, the high performance program and the culture if good governance but I don't think any of that can excuse the performances we've seen since round 2. Goodwin has been there long enough and the playing group is experienced enough to lead the team infield and ensure they front up each game. Is it high performance or poor governance that sees TMac dropped after being one of our best earlier this year? Is it high performance or good governance that sees Goodwin persist with the same mids and then bemoan our "lack of forward connection"? If we were losing while trying new things it would be easier to take but losing while trying the same thing over and over is insane.

Time to start a rebuild?
Yep, he's still racking up touches for the most part (though more 25 than 35) but he's just not as damaging as he was. Looks like more of an accumulating plodder than a damaging top 5 in the comp mid.

May to Tribunal
After what he did to this club he should be barred from having anything to do with us! Why the hell do we engage him on our behalf, surely there are other options. Or was this one of the punishments from his tanking investigation?
-
May to Tribunal
100% it did! As did the fact he is not in Brownlow contention.
-
May to Tribunal
Except if someone is concussed by a knee to the back of the head in a marking contest?
-
May to Tribunal
Maynard shoved Murphy Reid into the bench this week. Nothing. Moore drops his knees into an opponent's back this week. Nothing.
-
May to Tribunal
Thats completely irrelevant for me, it's not about games missed I honestly couldn't care at all. It's about the principle, what the AFL is turning the game into and the fact we are always made an example of while other clubs get away with stuff scot free. It's completely [censored], the club has to appeal this even if he will miss 3 weeks with concussion anyway.
-
May to Tribunal
What a [censored] joke. We must appeal.
-
May to Tribunal
Exactly, so considering it was a split second between May getting to the ball first or second and considering the predictability of the bounce if the ball how could they possibly argue that May is culpable for the injury to Evans? It's a farce.
-
May to Tribunal
What would happen if May got to the ball first and the exact same collision happened?
-
May to Tribunal
If it's not a bump there's no case to answer. If the ball can bounce unpredictably then how is May to predict if he will get to it first or not? The AFL is a clown show, I'm really growing to hate this sport/competition. Amateur hour all round. Can't wait for the NFL to start again, so much better than the AFL these days.

POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Carlton
They don't want to talk about that

Time to start a rebuild?
I hope Clarry has enough insight to be able to reflect on why that may be. Without wanting to say anything that will get me in trouble on here, a 27/28 yo mid should be in their prime and ripping the competition apart. It is a disservice to himself, his teammates, the club and supporters that this is not the case.

POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Carlton
Twomey is more reliable than any spin coming out of the club the last few years.
-
Joe Daniher
Along with Hipwood whose nose is too small for his face it was a disturbing combination for sure. Daniher always reminded me of Doofy from Scary Movie.
-
Joe Daniher
Why live in Byron Bay when you could set up shop in sunny Cranbourne?
-
The List Manager Tim Lamb
The real question is how come we didn't identify him as a potential recruit at the end of 2023?
-
Joe Daniher
Yep, or in other words "it's the midfield, stupid"

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Oliver's value is in freeing up cap space. Even if we move him on as a salary dump that gives us cash to look at luring a free agent over at the end of next year. We also rid ourselves of some of the off field baggage that comes with Oliver and the unreliability of not knowing whether he'll go off the rails again. Viney may be retiring but not too soon. He has another 3 years on his contract. The club blinked offering him that contract, should have been a year by year extension and put the ball in his court. Hopefully he can continue delivering.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Trac can go forward though, Oliver is midfield or bust. I think we keep Trac and move on Oliver. For me it's either Oliver or Viney and the club does not seem willing to move on from Viney despite being older and more injury prone.

Joe Daniher
At first I rolled my eyes - I was never a huge fan of Joe, way too goofy for my liking. But if he didn't cost much (picks wise), despite being a year retired and one of the more unreliable players even at his best he would still be better than what we have now. If it meant JVR could stay forward while Daniher pinch hits in the ruck and he takes the oppositions best defender while playing forward leaving JVR, Fritsch, Melksham (?) space to work it would be worth a stab. We don't need a superstar KPF, we need a solid, big body that can take a mark and play backup to Gawn. If Daniher could be got for basically nothing then it's worth a shot, not like our list is bursting at the seams. There's about a quarter of the list we could cut tomorrow to free up a spot and no-one would notice.

POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Carlton
Sounds like Demonland after we beat North last week 😉

Time to start a rebuild?
Agreed, didn't we used to have a policy of only offering one year extensions to those aged 30+ or did I imagine it?
