Is it a million dollars for the NT game? I thought it was a million for the 2 games we used to play including Darin game so presume it is half that now, $500k. Still a decent whack obviously but less of a hole in the finances if we give it up.

When he can take an uncontested mark he looks good. As soon as he has to use any strength/bodywork he is all at sea. Even when he gets front position he gets too easily worked underneath the ball. He plays 3 or 4 good games a season as a forward. He either moves back to defence or is dropped to the VFL. Watching a guy his size get outbodied again and again is infuriating.

Even without injuries he's borderline AFL level.

Which part of the gameplan sucked today?

This game felt like a horrible replay of the very worst games from 22-23 including those two finals losses in 23. Teams clogging our forward line while we banged it in again and again kicking points from low percentage chances and getting cut up on the rebound while our opponent gets easy goals 10m-20m out in an open forward line. Will this team ever learn? I thought we were developing a new gameplan but we still seem to come unstuck against teams that want to "park the bus"" and kill us on transition. The pressure rating shows the team was just not up for it again, expecting to turn up and let it happen. It has been an MFC constant that whenever we string a couple of good wins together the players start drinking their own bathwater and expecting the result based on form instead of hard work. Different players, same culture.

Petty has to be dropped, he is completely ineffective as a big body up forward. For a guy his size to get outbodied again and again is a joke, he is just too soft. Drop him to the VFL. I thought the same last week but took the word of other posters that he "did a job" on McCartin. Not this week, he was horrible. Had enough of his pea heart efforts, he can go.

That's only part of the story, look at our work around stoppages. Looked at the number of broken, slipped or ineffective tackles. Look at the easy possessions they got out the back because players weren't running hard enough to cover space. Our pressure was deplorable.

I don't know where to find it but that's what they said on Kayo. They may have only been talking about the last quarter but I thought they meant the whole game. They said it was the 8th lowest rated pressure game under Goodwin and the last quarter was the worst quarter under him.

Pressure rating in the 130s. Kicking straight may have seen us win but the lack of pressure was the reason we lost.

He seemed more annoyed about the pressure,end to end goals and losing contested possession by 13 in the 1st quarter or so. And so he should. Missing goals is frustrating because it is basic skill execution. Losing contest is unacceptable because it comes down to effort and desire, a non negotiable.

But that last bit is the whole bit 🤣

Wanting to win and doing what you need to do to win as a professional athlete are two completely different things. Did they want to win? Of course. Did they want to work their arses off to make sure of it? It's pretty obvious they didn't. Losing I can handle, especially if the other team brings the heat. Last week Sydney brought the heat early and we rolled over them due ot our hard work. This week our pressure rating was 130 something. One of our lowest ever under Goodwin apparently and the last quarter was the worst quarter for pressure under Goodwin (the kayo commentators said). That is inexcusable and shows me the players thought they'd turn up and get the win without having to bust a gut.

Loading only happens/works if you can make finals. If you start 0-5 you don't have the luxury of loading. We turned up expecting to win and played arrogant footy. The players got ahead of themselves AGAIN and didn't want to do the hard work, thinking they deserved to win on form. Giving them an out for that disgraceful performance is ridiculous. And IF they were loading (which I doubt) the fitness team should be sacked. Wins now are more important than fresh legs in September when our players will be in Bali/Europe.

Goodwin can't kick it for them, when Melksham, Turner and Lindsay (all this quarter alone) are missing sitters what do you want the coaches to do? Pressure factor of 132, now that's another matter. Absolutely deplorable.

100 per cent and it's been the way since I've been following (late 80s). We win a few games and think we're world beaters, have no idea how to win when playing as the hunted. You knew in the first 5 minutes the mindset they turned up with today and it is an embarrassment to the club and a slap in the face of the supporters.

This is the angriest I've been watching a game since we lost to the Essendon rejects about 10 years ago. Can't believe the mindset we turned up with today and the basic skill errors/missed goals. It is inexcusable, good luck to anyone who turns up next week Collingwood will destroy us.
